The choice of best gestures and commands for touchless interfaces is a critical step that determines the user- satisfaction and overall efficiency of surgeon computer interaction. In this regard, usability metrics such as task completion time, error rate, and memorability have a long-standing as potential entities in determining the best gesture vocabulary. In addition, some previous works concerned with this problem have utilized qualitative measures to identify the best gesture. In this work, we hypothesize that there is a correlation between the qualitative properties of gestures (v) and their usability metrics (u). Therefore, we conducted an experiment with linguists to quantify the properties of the gestures. Next, a user study was conducted with surgeons, and the usability metrics were measured. Lastly, linear and non-linear regression techniques were used to find the correlations between u and v. Results show that usability metrics are correlated with the gestures’ qualitative properties ( R2 = 0.4).

AbstractObjectivesFibromyalgia is a chronic widespread pain (CWP) syndrome of unknown etiology with substantial burden of illness and functional impairment. Pain acceptance has emerged as an interesting target of therapy in chronic pain populations, but few studies have yet been done on the effect of pain acceptance on patients with fibromyalgia. The aim of the present study was to examine the relationship between pain acceptance and its impact on function and symptoms in fibromyalgia with both a cross-sectional and longitudinal design.MethodsThree hundred and sixty five participants aged 22–70 with fibromyalgia were recruited from the Norwegian Fibromyalgia Association (NFA). They filled out a questionnaire containing the Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire (FIQ), measurement of function and symptoms, and Chronic Pain Acceptance Questionnaire (CPAQ), measurement of pain acceptance, in addition to sociodemographic and clinical variables such as degree of fibromyalgia, depression and pain duration (T1 measures). One year after, 87 of the participants filled out the FIQ and clinical measures once again (T2 measures). Unadjusted and adjusted linear regression analyses were performed both for cross-sectional measures at T1 and for longitudinal measures from T1 to T2, with FIQ score as the outcome variable and CPAQ score at T1 as one of the main independent variables.ResultsHigher CPAQ score was significantly associated with a lower FIQ score at T1, also when adjusting for age, education, work, depression and Fibromyalgianess Score (p<0.01). Lower FIQ score indicate less impact of fibromyalgia on functioning. In addition, two adjusted linear regression models found higher pain acceptance (CPAQ score) at T1 to be associated with lower negative impact of fibromyalgia on function and symptoms (FIQ score) at T2 (p<0.01).ConclusionsHigher pain acceptance is associated with better functional level and less symptoms in fibromyalgia, both cross-sectionally and when measurements are separated in time. Further research should include experimental studies with acceptance-based interventions for this patient group.

The aim of this paper is to present the statistical criteria and models used in a school effectiveness research carried out in the Basque Country Autonomous Community using as outcome variable the mathematics, spanish language and basque language scores. These scores come from the Diagnosis Assessments applied for five years. Four school effectiveness criteria are defined: extreme scores, extreme residuals, scores growth and residuals growth. Multilevel regression techniques have been applied using hierarchical linear models (HLM). Results have permitted a selection of both high and low effective schools based on four different and complementary school effectiveness approaches.

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Students Economic Literacy, the results of the economic study, and peers on consumption behavior of students of SMP Negeri Surabaya Western Conference. The research population was students of SMP Negeri 28 Surabaya class VIII as many as 369 people and students of SMP Negeri 40 Surabaya class VIII as many as 330 students, with a total sample of 254 students. The data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. Methods of analysis using multiple linear regression techniques. The results showed that the students economic literacy, the results of the economic study, and peer partially has a positive and significant effect on consumption behavior. The students economic literacy of students, the results of the economic study, and peer simultaneously positive significant effect on consumption behavior of students

The objective of the study is to examine empirically the likely association between the level of disclosure and various profitability attributes. In order to identify the determinants of disclosure, regression analysis, multiple linear regression techniques have been used. The analysis and discussion of the study have already established the fact that the extent of disclosure varies across pharmaceutical company and across various sections of pharmaceutical company annual reports. The paper has been prepared having in minded the significant corporate attributes that are significantly associated with the level of disclosure.

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of good school governance on the effectiveness of the management of elementary school operational assistance. The method used is descriptive analysis method with a quantitative approach. The sample used saturated samples by showing all treasurers of primary school operational assistance as many as 48 people, data collected by questionnaire techniques while data analysis used multiple linear regression techniques. The results showed that participation had a positive and significant effect on the effectiveness of the management of school operational assistance, transparency had a positive and significant effect on the effectiveness of the management of school operational assistance, while accountability separately did not have a positive and significant effect on the effectiveness of the management of school operational assistance but together participation, transparency and accountability have a positive and significant effect on the effectiveness of managing school operational assistance.

This study aims to determine the effect of Administrative Sanctions and Forced Letters on Optimizing Disbursement of Tax Arrears at the Pratama Tax Office North Makassar. Data collection uses secondary data obtained from the Pratama Makassar North Tax Service Office. The population is 36 tax payers and the sample is 36. The data analysis method uses multiple linear regression techniques. The results of this study indicate that administrative sanctions show a positive and significant. This means that administrative sanctions have a positive effect on optimizing the disbursement of tax arrears. The forced letter shows positive and significant. This means that forced letters have a positive and significant effect on optimizing the disbursement of tax arrears.
