Background/Aims: Identification of novel biomarkers to identify acute heart failure (AHF) patients at high risk of mortality is an area of unmet clinical need. Recently, we reported that the baseline level of circulating miR-30d was associated with left ventricular remodeling in response to cardiac resynchronization therapy in advanced chronic heart failure patients. However, the role of circulating miR-30d as a prognostic marker of survival in patients with AHF has not been explored. Methods: Patients clinically diagnosed with AHF were enrolled and followed up for 1 year. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reactions were used to determine serum miR-30d levels. The univariate logistic regression analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to determine the predictors for all-cause mortality in AHF patients. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis was used to analyze the role of miR-30d in prediction of survival. Results: A total of 96 AHF patients were enrolled and followed up for 1 year. Serum miR-30d was significantly lower in AHF patients who expired in the one year follow-up period compared to those who survived. Univariate logistic regression analysis yielded 18 variables that were associated with all-cause mortality in AHF patients, while the multivariate logistic regression analysis identified 4 variables including heart rate, hemoglobin, serum sodium, and serum miR-30d level associated with mortality. ROC curve analysis showed that hemoglobin, heart rate and serum sodium displayed poor prognostic value for AHF (AUCs not higher than 0.700) compared to miR-30d level (AUC = 0.806). Kaplan–Meier survival analysis confirmed that patients with higher serum miR-30d levels had significantly lower mortality (P=0.001). Conclusion: In conclusion, this study shows evidence for the predictive value of circulating miR-30d as 1-year all-cause mortality in AHF patients. Large multicentre studies are further needed to validate our findings and accelerate the transition to clinical utilization.

Background/Aims: Irisin is a peptide hormone cleaved from a plasma membrane protein fibronectin type III domain containing protein 5 (FNDC5). Emerging studies have indicated association between serum irisin and many major chronic diseases including cardiovascular diseases. However, the role of serum irisin as a predictor for mortality risk in acute heart failure (AHF) patients is not clear. Methods: AHF patients were enrolled and serum was collected at the admission and all patients were followed up for 1 year. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to measure serum irisin levels. To explore predictors for AHF mortality, the univariate and multivariate logistic regression analysis, and receiver-operator characteristic (ROC) curve analysis were used. To determine the role of serum irisin levels in predicting survival, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used. Results: In this study, 161 AHF patients were enrolled and serum irisin level was found to be significantly higher in patients deceased in 1-year follow-up. The univariate logistic regression analysis identified 18 variables associated with all-cause mortality in AHF patients, while the multivariate logistic regression analysis identified 2 variables namely blood urea nitrogen and serum irisin. ROC curve analysis indicated that blood urea nitrogen and the most commonly used biomarker, NT-pro-BNP, displayed poor prognostic value for AHF (AUCs ≤ 0.700) compared to serum irisin (AUC = 0.753). Kaplan-Meier survival analysis demonstrated that AHF patients with higher serum irisin had significantly higher mortality (P<0.001). Conclusion: Collectively, our study identified serum irisin as a predictive biomarker for 1-year all-cause mortality in AHF patients though large multicenter studies are highly needed.

Introductions to The Problem: Zakat is one of worship which is often mentioned in the Al Quran. It's just that the potential for Zakat, Infaq, Alms (ZIS) is not comparable to the actual actual figures. Many factors influence muzakki in paying ZIS.Purpose/Objective Study: This study aims to analyze the factors that influence muzakki to pay ZIS in zakat institutions, namely Yatim MandiriDesign/ Methodology/ Approach: The sample in this study amounted to 200 respondents. LAZ Yatim Mandiri was chosen because it is an Amil Zakat Institution that is consistent in collecting ZIS funds from the smallest amount to the large amount. This study uses logistic regression analysis and the data used are primary data. Based on the analysis that has been done, it is found that 61% results can be predicted correctly in the logistic regression model in this study.Findings: The consistency of muzakki in paying ZIS at the Yatim Mandiri Amil Zakat Institution is influenced by the variables of religiosity, income, trust, shariah compliance, knowledge, justice, data publication, financial accountability, motivation, the role of ulama, the role of government. And the consistency of muzakki in paying ZIS at the Yatim Mandiri Amil Zakat Institution is not influenced by the variables of shariah compliance and financial accountability.

This chapter seeks to identify the variables that influence the demand for a product or service considered as collaborative consumption, particularly, which are the factors that most affect the choice of a hosting or another in AirBnB. The chapter starts with an overview of collaborative consumption and how it is positioned in the sharing economy as a technological phenomenon. Then the authors present the role of digital platforms in this context, and finally, they present the theoretical model with the aim to identify what variables influence the demand of a product or service considered as collaborative. To validate the model, a logistic regression analysis was performed. The results obtained show how some of the predictors have a significant importance in consumer purchase. The chapter ends by presenting some conclusions of interest to those web users, who decide to use it as a platform to advertise their accommodations.

Several risk factors have been used to predict preeclampsia. The role of some risk factors as predictors associated with preeclampsia among Iranian women was analyzed in the present study using logistic regression. 610 women attending the obstetric ward of Mustafa hospital in Ilam were enrolled in this study. Demographic variables such as age, Body Mass Index (BMI), medical and obstetrics variables such as education, number of pregnancy, abortion and parity from May to September 2010 were analyzed. We used the unvaried and multiple logistic regression analyses to predict preeclampsia. The history of preeclampsia, hypertension, and infertility showed to be good independent predicator variables for preeclampsia using multivariate logistic regression analysis (OR was 5.46, 2.34 and 3.07 respectively). Area Under the Receiver Operation Character (AUROC) was estimated to be 0.67 (95% CI 0.59-0.67, p

Abstract Background Despite the growing body of knowledge about TM6SF2 and PNPLA3 polymorphisms in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, their influence in the spectrum of HCV liver disease is not yet fully defined. Besides that, admixed populations, such as Brazilians, were not included in most of the studies. Methods This cross-sectional study enrolled 365 treatment-naïve patients with HCV and 134 healthy individuals. TM6SF2 (rs58542926 c.499C > T) and PNPLA3 (rs738409 c.444C > G) polymorphisms were evaluated regarding their association with clinical and laboratory data, histological liver steatosis and fibrosis, and with components of the metabolic syndrome. Results In HCV subjects, the frequencies of TM6SF2 CC and CT + TT were 89% and 11%, while PNPLA3 frequencies of CC and CG + GG were 51.4% and 48.6%. In the univariate logistic regression analysis, the TM6SF2 CT + TT genotype in HCV was associated with significant liver fibrosis (p = 0.047; OR 1.953; 95% CI 1.009–3.788). In comparison to the CT + TT genotype, the TM6SF2 CC genotype in HCV was associated with older age (p = 0.002), higher frequency of arterial hypertension (p = 0.032), obesity (p = 0.030), metabolic syndrome (p = 0.014) and lower total cholesterol levels (p = 0.036). The PNPLA3 GG subjects had lower body mass index than CG/ CC individuals (p = 0.047). None of the polymorphisms, or their combinations, was independently associated with hepatic steatosis or fibrosis. On the other hand, older age, lower serum levels of total cholesterol, and higher serum levels of alanine aminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase were associated with liver fibrosis in the multivariate logistic regression analysis. Conclusion In this evaluation of an admixed HCV population, neither TM6SF2 nor PNPLA3 polymorphisms were independently associated with hepatic steatosis or fibrosis. Other factors seem more influential than these specific polymorphisms in isolation. More studies are warranted to clarify the role of the TM6SF2 and PNPLA3 polymorphisms in Brazilians with HCV.

Abstract Funding Acknowledgements Type of funding sources: None. Background Infarct size (IS), area at risk (AAR) and microvascular obstruction (MVO) are well known predictors of adverse remodeling (aLVr) following acute myocardial infarction, while the pathogenic role of left ventricular (LV) hemodynamic forces (HDFs) is still unknown. Recent evidence suggests the role of HDFs in negative remodeling after pathogenic events.  Purpose To identify LV HDFs patterns associated with aLVr in reperfused ST-segment elevation MI (STEMI) patients. Methods Forty-nine acute STEMI patients underwent CMR at 1 week (baseline) and 4 months (follow-up) after MI.  The following parameters were measured: left ventricular end-diastolic and end-systolic volume index for body surface area (LVEDVi and LVESVi), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and LV mass index, AAR and IS. LV HDFs were computed at baseline from cine CMR long axis datasets using a novel method based on LV endocardial boundary tracking. LV HDFs were calculated both in apex-base (A-B) and latero-septal (L-S) directions. The distribution of LV HDFs were evaluated by L-S over A-B HDFs ratio (L-S/A-B HDFs ratio %). All HDFs parameters are computed over the entire heartbeat, in systole and diastole. aLVr was defined as an absolute increase in LVESV of at least 15% (ΔLV-ESV ≥15%). Results Patients with aLVr (n = 18; 37%) had significant greater value of AAR (32 ± 23 vs 22 ± 18; p = 0.03) and slightly larger IS (23 ± 16 vs 15 ± 11; p= 0.07) at baseline. In patients with aLVr at FU, baseline systolic L-S HDF were lower (2.7 ± 0.9 vs 3.6 ± 1; p = 0.027) while diastolic L-S/A-B HDF ratio was significantly higher (28 ± 14 vs 19 ± 6; p = 0.03), reflecting higher grade of diastolic HDFs misalignment. At univariate logistic regression analysis, higher IS [Odd ratio (OR) 1.05; 95% confidence interval (95% CI) 1.01-1.1; p= 0.04] L-S HDFs (OR 0.41; 95% CI 0.2-0.9; p= 0.04] and higher diastolic L-S/A-B HDFs ratio (OR 1.1; 95% CI 1.01-1.2; p= 0.05) were associated with aLVr at FU (Table).  At multivariate logistic regression analysis, L-S/A-B HDF ratio remained the only independent predictor of adverse LV remodeling after correction for other baseline determinants. Conclusion Misalignment of diastolic HDFs following STEMI is associated with aLVr observed after 4 months. Antenatal care is a service provided to pregnant women to monitor, support maternal health and detect mothers whether normal or problematic pregnant women. According to the WHO, globally more than 70% of maternal deaths are caused by complications of pregnancy and childbirth such as hemorrhage, hypertension, sepsis, and abortion. Based on data obtained from the profile of the North Sumatra provincial health office in 2017, in the city of Padangsidimpuan in 2017 the coverage of ANC visits reached (76.58%) and had not reached the target in accordance with the 2017 Provincial Health Office strategy plan (95%). This type of research was an observational analytic study with a cross sectional design. The population in this study were independent practice midwives who were in the Padangsidimpuan, the sample in this study amounted to 102 respondents. The technique of collecting data used questionnaires and data analysis used univariate, bivariate and multivariate analysis with logistic regression analysis. Based on bivariate analysis showed that there was a relationship between facilities, knowledge and attitudes of independent midwives with compliance with the standards of antenatal care services with a value of p <0.05. The results of the study with multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that the factors associated with the compliance of independent midwives in carrying out antenatal care service standards were attitudes with values (p = 0.026).
