In two studies, we examine how objective complexity—in terms of numbers of negotiable issues—affects negotiators’ aspirations, perceptions, actions, and ultimately, the quality of agreements they reach. We hypothesized and found that when negotiators had a greater number of issues to resolve, they were less ambitious for their own outcomes and developed less accurate insights into their partners’ interests.

This article presents the results of research on the value and target priorities in the quality management process in higher education. It is determined that the quality of education is a mean of development of the individual and society, a condition of trust in the educational sphere, it reflects the degree of conformity of the properties and results of educational processivity to certain norms and standards of education. It is established that the quality is traced in the presence of competencies that characterize the ability of graduates of the institution to effectively pursue professional activity in modern socio-economic conditions.Each specific historical level of the qualitative parameters of higher education is the result of determining the goal, or the spontaneity and purpose of indifference, or the symbiosis of the two previous possibilities. It is necessary to take into account the fact that in the absolute majority of cases the quality of higher education does not have a self-sufficient target status, but rather becomes the context and prerequisite for achieving some other strategic goal of individual or supra-individual (social, cultural, civilizational, global) value. The totality of these circumstances exacerbates the need to analyze the quality of higher education through the lens of a hierarchy of targets. Goal setting is the process of justification and goal setting. And the goal can be achieved by combining objective factors and ways and actions to do so. It is also proved that the structural components of personality, value orientations are the most important component of an individual's organization, his ethical-psychological and intellectual activity. And worldview is a set of views, principles, understanding of the world and program of action and forms the foundation of human consciousness. The acquired knowledge and beliefs, combined in the worldview, form a system of understanding by the man of the world and himself.Therefore, the quality of education can be ensured if the management system is in place, which involves the organization of a continuous process of influence of the management entity on its object and the appropriate coordination of their joint activities. The process of quality assurance in higher education should be systematic and include monitoring of the educational environment, comprehensive analysis of the factors influencing the quality of education and developing models of quality management of educational services.Keywords: value, purpose, target priorities, quality management of higher education quality, quality of education

Since the invention of DNA sequencing in the seventies, computational biologists have had to deal with the problem de novo genome assembly with limited (or insufficient) depth of sequencing. In this work, for the first time we investigate the opposite problem, that is, the challenge of dealing with excessive depth of sequencing. Specifically, we explore the effect of ultra-deep sequencing data in two domains: (i) the problem of decoding reads to BAC clones (in the context of the combinatorial pooling design proposed by our group), and (ii) the problem of de novo assembly of BAC clones. Using real ultra-deep sequencing data, we show that when the depth of sequencing increases over a certain threshold, sequencing errors make these two problems harder and harder (instead of easier, as one would expect with error-free data), and as a consequence the quality of the solution degrades with more and more data. For the first problem, we propose an effective solution based on "divide and conquer": we "slice" a large dataset into smaller samples of optimal size, decode each slice independently, then merge the results. Experimental results on over 15,000 barley BACs and over 4,000 cowpea BACs demonstrate a significant improvement in the quality of the decoding and the final assembly. For the second problem, we show for the first time that modern de novo assemblers cannot take advantage of ultra-deep sequencing data.

Context Individuals with a history of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) demonstrate persistent reductions in physical activity (PA) volume that are not being addressed during rehabilitation. Currently, it is challenging for clinicians to prescribe exercise interventions that extend beyond in-person rehabilitative care in a manner that is responsive and acceptable to patients. Objective To investigate the feasibility of using a novel, technology-driven, personalized goal-setting intervention over a 2-month period among young individuals with a history of primary unilateral ACLR. Design Single-blinded feasibility study. Setting University community Patients or Other Participants Ten women and 2 men (age = 22.0 ± 3.0 years, time since surgery = 56.0 ± 36.3 months) with a history of primary unilateral ACLR. Intervention(s) All participants completed a 28-day PA observation period immediately followed by a 28-day individualized PA goal-setting intervention period delivered via a commercially available PA monitor. Main Outcome Measure(s) Primary feasibility outcomes were days of PA monitor wear compliance and days of goal achievement during the intervention period. Participants also completed the Knee Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) at study enrollment and after the intervention period, and the individual change in the KOOS Quality of Life subscale was compared with the minimal detectable change (7.2 points). Results Average PA monitor wear compliance was 95.5% ± 7.3% during the observation period and 97.7% ± 2.9% during the intervention period. Median goal achievement was 31.5% ± 6.8% during the intervention period. Five participants demonstrated meaningful improvements in the KOOS Quality of Life subscale during the study period. Conclusions Individualized goal setting via mobile technology appears to be a feasible approach to PA promotion. However, based on the low rate of daily goal attainment during the intervention period, continued refinement of this intervention aproach would be beneficial before broad clinical implementation.

The analysis of the results of a questionnaire survey of heads of institutes, departments and members of Academic board of the State University of Management on a set of issues related to goal-setting in teaching managerial personnel has been presented. It has been revealed, on the one hand, a variety of respondents ‘ points of view, on the other hand, the presence of a sufficiently high degree of unanimity in goal-setting and ways of exit of the University to the trajectory of effective development. It has been concluded, that it is necessary to take serious measures to improve the quality of higher education using, first of all, rich domestic experience and strategic guidelines in the socio-economic development of the country.

Our research team implemented and evaluated a 12-week manual-based intervention focused on sustaining recovery for youth with psychosis, as they transitioned from Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) to community-based care teams. The study employed a mixed methods prospective cohort design. Statistically significant improvement in functioning was observed for the intervention group participants only; as well as observed improvements in self-esteem and quality of life (SQLS), compared to the comparison group who demonstrated a significant decline in functioning. The qualitative findings revealed a sense of optimism about the future and the value of realistic goal-setting in the intervention group.
