Do adult learners participate in discussions differently than non-adult learners? This is a question that can only be defined through the eyes of the learner. Of course, there are conclusions that can be drawn but the learner should start the thinking process by asking the following questions: Are the questions to be addressed accurate and well-defined? Is the situation one where the conclusion can be assessed and determined by the learner? This article will take a look at how adult learners learn and will focus on some thoughts and ideas regarding how a person learns. The key factors that will be addressed are: the environment, the decision-making process, and the leadership process. These factors will be used as part of the process for an adult learner to develop or nurture his or her leadership style.

The article addresses the concept of organizational culture, the role it plays in the leadership process, the direction it imprints on the leadership style, incorporating organizational values and specific common principles. Organizational culture defines the style of acting of the manager within the school organization favoring change or preventing it through resistance, due to certain factors. The normativity of the organizational culture is given by the marking of a democratic-participatory school leadership style, of interest and participation in the decision-making process of the school, by the continuous training of teachers, of responsibilities defined in a planned and organized system.

Abstract This analysis is based on the dissertation The Mexican Army decision-making process: The role of Military Intelligence. The original research is applied to the case of the Ovidio Guzmán capture operation in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico. First-hand sources of military intelligence are confronted with information from open sources to evaluate the possible intelligence and counterintelligence failures that can explain the Mexican government´s decision to release Ovidio Guzman after members of his cartel committed acts of extreme violence and exploited social media. Based on the sources consulted, the author concludes the key factors that led to the failure of the operation were the lack of inter-agency cooperation and deficiencies in the decision-making process by the Security Cabinet of Mexico.

The present study aims to contribute to the discussion regarding the possibility of conceptualizing a religious diaspora. It proposes a new way of defining it, namely in relation to religious and not to ethno-territorial realities, but without editing the territorial dimension out. After sketching the definition on this theoretical basis, the study refers to six case studies, pointing to the way in which the definitory traits of a religious diaspora are actualized in each situation under study. The evaluation unravels the strengths of the concept as well as certain aspects that still need to be addressed in further research. The inference is that the capacity of religion to generate diasporic feelings and attitudes should also be acknowledged and that the concept of religious diaspora ought to be treated as an analytic instrument useful both in the research and in the decision-making process.

Leadership style adopted by a leader in educational institutions, will mentukan atmosphere and climate in the next educational institutions also determine the effectiveness of health efforts in the purpose of education. Abstract Given the continuous aging of pipeline infrastructure buried underground, water utilities need to make a strategic plan on how to maintain the entire water distribution systems (WDSs) to ensure the required standard of supply. This paper investigates the nexus of three key factors that have a significant impact on the decision-making process of the rehabilitation plan for WDSs. The factors considered include the problem formulations, the pipe selection methods for identifying critical components of WDSs, and the multi-objective evolutionary algorithms (MOEAs). The nexus was revealed by considering all the combinations of two variants for each factor. The optimal rehabilitation problem of the Exeter network was used as a case study. Results exhibit that the problem formulation determined the range of Pareto fronts essentially, which should give the highest priority in the decision-making process. The pipe selection method played a secondary role, mainly affecting the shape of Pareto fronts. Optimization algorithms also had a considerable impact on the optimality of solutions, subject to their characteristics and parameter settings. This paper also highlights that breakthroughs need to focus on these key factors to facilitate a more cost-effective solution to the rehabilitation of large WDSs.

Aside from honey’s sweet and distinctive flavor, it can provide various human health benefits, which makes its market value favorable compared to those of other sweeteners. In the study, the purchase decision making process is examined through sensory experiments. The results are based on sensory analysis of 600 adult consumers, which show that, consumers’ demand for honey varies significantly according to the flavor, aroma, color, texture and price. The geographic location of the honey’s production and the product packaging are key factors for some consumer segments. Sensory differentiation and the evaluation of honey quality are different in the analyzed consumer segments, which are described in the study.

Culture is defined as a society’s system of values, ideology and social codes of behavior; its productive technologies and modes of consumption; its religious dogmas, myths, and taboos; and its social structure, political system and decision-making process (Coombes, 1985). The cultural environment in which an individual is raised is thus fundamental to the life view with which he perceives his world. Since his world view encompasses ideas of space and time, it is therefore not surprising that his understanding of astronomical concepts is inextricably bound to his cultural envelope. This paper sets out to examine some of the ways cultural complexities affect the understanding of astronomical concepts and thus to make the case for a more realistic approach to the teaching of astronomy in a multicultural society, recognizing the importance of culture and the way students learn (Burger, 1973; Teynolds and Skilbeck, 1976).

This article builds on the idea that senior tourists’ decision making is a staged process in which the different choices are sequential, interrelated, and interdependent. These decisions are “whether to take a vacation," “whether to opt for an international trip," “whether to use an organized tour," and “whether to use publicly subsidized travel.” Considering the social character of many trips offered to seniors, the fourth decision of the proposed process makes it unique. No research has empirically considered using a staged decision making in the context of senior travelers, and the proposed model quantifies the effect of each variable based on the decision the individual is dealing with; also, the way a variable changes its effect even within the same decision stage depending on the individual is analyzed by including heterogeneity into the modeling. The results find that senior tourists follow the proposed four-staged decision-making process rather than the basic two-stage decision-making process.
