Because the use of very large numbers of small hair-grafts has become the norm in hair transplantation, the surgical assistant who cuts and places the hair-grafts into the recipient sites has become a key figure in the operation. Because this activity requires tremendous dexterity and patience, hiring the right individuals to perform this work can be a formidable task. Recently, the author has researched the topic of dexterity tests and discovered an invaluable hand-eye coordination test (The O'Connor Tweezer Dexterity Test) that accurately determines whether or not an individual will be able to perform the task of hair-graft placement with speed and precision. Since utilizing this test during the interview process, it has been found to be a highly invaluable screening tool.

In recent years, there has been growing interest in the development of mental number line (MNL) representation examined using a number-to-position task. In the present study, we investigated the development of number representation on a 0-10 number line using a computerized version of the number-to-position task on a touchscreen, with restricted response time; 181 children from first through sixth grade were tested. We found that the pattern of estimated number position on the physical number line was best fit by the sigmoidal curve function–which was characterized by underestimation of small numbers and overestimation of large numbers–and that the breakpoint changed with age. Moreover, we found that significant developmental leaps in MNL representation occurred between the first and second grades and again between the second and third grades, which was reflected in the establishment of the right endpoint and the number 5 as anchor points, yielding a more accurate placement of other numbers along the number line.

A 15-y-old castrated male Maine Coon cat was evaluated for an ulcerated soft tissue mass on the right hindlimb that had been observed for 4 mo and had grown rapidly. A 3 × 3 cm soft, raised, amorphous, and ulcerated subcutaneous mass was observed on the lateral right metatarsus. In-house cytology via fine-needle aspiration was nondiagnostic. Incisional biopsy of the mass and further staging was declined, and amputation was elected. The amputated limb was submitted for histopathology, which revealed severe chronic nodular granulomatous dermatitis and multifocal granulomatous popliteal lymphadenitis with large numbers of intralesional fungal hyphae. Fungal PCR and sequencing on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue identified Chalastospora gossypii. No adjunctive therapy was elected at the time. The patient has done well clinically 1 y post-operatively. C. gossypii is a rare microfungus found worldwide and is considered a minor pathogen of several plants. To our knowledge, infection by this fungus has not been reported previously in veterinary species. Features in our case are comparable to other mycotic infections. Nodular granulomatous mycotic dermatitis and cellulitis, although uncommon, should be a differential for soft tissue masses in veterinary species; C. gossypii is a novel isolate.

The Effects of Teaching Style and Hand-Eye Coordination on Basic Forehand Tennis SkillsAbstractThe purpose of this study was to determine the effect of command teaching style with inclusion style and eye-hand coordination on the basic skills of tennis forehand. This research is an experimental research with a 2 x 2 factorial design. The sample consisted of 48 male students of sports studies programs that are in accordance with criteria capable of making a forehand, then conducted a hand-eye coordination test, then sorted by the highest and lowest scores taken 27% of the upper group and 27% of the lower group, each divided into four groups, each consisting of 12 students. Data analysis technique used two-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and then followed by Tukey's test at the significance level α = 0.05. The results of this study indicate that (1) the command style gives a greater influence than the Inclusion style, (2) there is an interaction between teaching style and eye-hand coordination, (3) on high eye-hand coordination, the command style gives more influence greater than the inclusion style, and (4) in low hand-eye coordination, there is no significant difference in influence between the command style and the inclusion style. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the teaching style and eye-hand coordination are subject to field tennis forehand skills.

Felons are characterized as a hard-to-employ population who have limited educational achievement, so large numbers of them remain unemployed. This chapter explores educational policies inside and outside of prison, and how the expansion of statutory limitations and tough-on-crime policies prevents prisoners and reentering felons from securing funds to go to school. Participants were unable to go to school when they were imprisoned, and upon coming home are pressured to get a job by parole and/or family rather than to go to school; however, most are denied employment opportunities due to statutory restrictions denying felons the right to work. As a result, individuals view education as a nonstarter, and this chapter argues that as a result of public policies, a vicious cycle develops as felons remain undereducated and unable to secure funds needed to get their GED or attend vocational schools, so they resort to criminal activities to live.

Advances in computers design and communication technology have lead to introduction of global, dynamic and intelligent e-business models and new tools for e-commerce. These models use artificial intelligence techniques and web2 technologies to perform online transactions between businesses and customers. As the number of clients over the Internet grows rapidly advanced intelligent e-business models are needed to efficiently respond to clients with an optimum selection for their requests. In B2C models there are a large numbers of buyers and sellers where buyers specify their preferences and sellers specify their products and selling prices. The major role of AI techniques in B2C e-commerce is to come up with the best match between a buyer and seller. In B2B the major role of AI techniques is supply chain management to help clients taking the right decisions. Modern tools used by intelligent E-commerce models include: algorithmic trading, decentralized autonomous corporations (DAC), crypto-currency systems, smart contracts, Internet of Things, cloud computing and big data analytics.

This report describes a 14-year-old Pit Bull dog presenting with a soft tissue swelling of 3-month progression in the right sublingual region. Histopathological analysis of the surgically resected specimen revealed large numbers of mature adipocytes and islets consisting of mucin-containing atrophic acini and dilated ducts surrounded by a thin fibrous capsule. Findings were consistent with sialolipoma of the sublingual salivary gland. To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first case of sialolipoma affecting the sublingual salivary gland in dogs.

72 Background: The IOM 2013 Report recommends that supportive oncology care start at cancer diagnosis; the Commission on Cancer (CoC) standard 3.2 requires distress screening and indicated action. Screening tools are not standardized across institutions and often address only a portion of patients’ supportive oncology needs. Methods: A collaborative of 100+ clinicians, funded by The Coleman Foundation, developed a patient-centric consolidated screening tool based on validated instruments (NCCN Distress Problem List, PHQ-4, PROMIS) and IOM and CoC. The screening tool was piloted at 6 practice improvement cancer centers in the Chicago area (3 academic, 2 safety-net, 1 public). Patients, providers assessing each patient’s screening results (assessors), and providers receiving referrals (referral providers) were surveyed after each use of the screening tool. Descriptive statistics were used to assess effectiveness of the tool. Results: Responders included 29 patients, 81 assessors and 26 referral providers (SW, chaplain, subspecialist). The majority of patients (22/29, 75%) completed the screening in < 10 minutes without assistance and will complete at every visit. Most assessors (59/77, 76%) spent < 5 minutes reviewing screening results. The majority of patients, assessors, and referral providers reported that the screening tool asked the “right questions”. Assessors reporting partial relevance of some screening questions for 34% (26/77) of patients, uncovered ≥ 1 relevant needs for 96% (25/26) of those patients (p = 0.002). Conclusions: Use of a consolidated supportive oncology screening tool across multiple institutions is feasible, discovered unmet patient needs, and was beneficial for assessors and providers. As the tool is adopted by collaborating institutions, variations in supportive oncology screening may decline, thus improving access to supportive oncology care with implications for national dissemination. Let us begin with a drawing, depicting the river mouth of Batavia. We see a lively scene. Europeans and Asians are fishing, peddling, rowing, riding, walking, and sitting along the waterway. A small prauw on the left appears to be manned by Javanese and Chinese. Behind the Waterkasteel, on the right, large numbers of oceangoing vessels are anchored before Batavia. In the middle of the drawing, we see three men on the path along the waterway, the “jaagpad,” pulling a flat cargo boat. The clothing indicates that these are “Moor” sailors. On the boat, we see three other sailors with turbans. This scene, drawn by Johannes Rach in 1764, places the Dutch East India Company (VOC) in its Asian context. In previous decades, increasing attention has been paid to the structure of the “Asian” or overseas organisation of the VOC. Even more so, research has shown the importance of the Company's participation in the intra-Asian trade. From 1500 onwards, European trading companies not only became important in intercontinental European–Asian trade, but they came to dominate maritime trade within Asia as well. The VOC was one of the largest merchants active in intra-Asian shipping for much of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. For the VOC, however, it was not only its presence overseas that built the link between the Company and its Asian context. The VOC and its Asian context became intrinsically interwoven. Leonard Blussé, for example, emphasises the character of Batavia, the headquarters of the VOC in Asia, as a “Chinese colonial town.”
