Modelling the Enablers of e-Trading Adoption in Agricultural Marketing: A TISM-Based Analysis of eNAM

Purpose: This research study identifies the enablers of adoption of e-trading of agricultural produce in India. It also proposes an adoption framework for promoting e-trading of the agricultural produce. The total interpretive structural modelling (TISM) method is used to develop hierarchical relationships among enablers. It brings the suggestions to improve the critical enablers for the use of policymakers, e-trading managers and market makers. Methodology: The research conducted in two phases, identification of variables, using literature assessment and analysing the relationship between the identified enablers using TISM. A case study of the National Agriculture Market (eNAM) project was undertaken to understand the enablers of the adoption in a common pan-India e-trading platform. Further, cross-impact matrix multiplication applied to classification (MICMAC) analysis explores the driving and the dependence power of the identified enablers. Findings: This research proposes an e-trading adoption framework for the Indian agricultural supply chain. The ‘perceived ease of use’, ‘facilitating conditions’, ‘social influence’ and lower ‘cost’ are identified as significant enablers in this study besides ‘trust’ and ‘perceived usefulness’. A few suggestions bought out in this paper are expected to improve these enablers, which are expected to help in enhancing eNAM adoption, thereby improving the supply chain of agricultural produce. Research Implications: The well-structured analysis in the hierarchical form helps to get more insight into the influence of the seven enablers identified by TISM technique on the adoption of e-trading in the Indian agricultural marketing and supply chain. The e-trading in Indian agricultural has significant economic and workforce value for the country. The suggestions of this study provide insight into practical improvement step considerations for policymakers and e-trading managers in the agricultural sector and micro, small and medium enterprises.

Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) is an important tool to understand the dynamics of acceptance of Information Systems in an organization. The model posits that perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are key factors in the adoption. This study extends TAM for investigating the user rejection of technology by reversing the two key factors into perceived difficulty of use and perceived uselessness. The study was conducted by surveying the customers of an e-banking application in Turkey who disuse the system. The results reveal important hints for the organization that wants to get an insight into the causes of the system disuse.

This study investigated user satisfaction when a new interorganizational information system (green supply chain management system; GSCMS) was introduced to a supplier by a leader in the Taiwan electronic industry. GSCMS providers, according to the requirements of the supplier network leader, trained the representatives of suppliers. All suppliers of two sample vendors (manufacturers of electronic products) were surveyed. Five putative influencing factors were considered: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, training, computer anxiety, and computer self-efficacy. We find four factors significantly affect user satisfaction. The results show that the training provided by focal vendors will influence the satisfaction of users. Next, the anxiety and uncertainty experienced by users decreases when they acquire more knowledge about the operation of the new GSCMS. Finally, user satisfaction can be increased by designing the functions and interfaces of a GSCMS in accordance with the user perceptions of usefulness and ease of use, moreover, implications and suggestions are also discussed.

The major challenge in India’s agricultural sector is to create and improve the existing agriculture infrastructure which can improve the livelihood of rural masses. Penetration of mobile phones in India in the last 10 years has grown tremendously. Many service providers have emerged as players in this market providing a portfolio of services to consumers. Mobile-enabled information services have been introduced in agri-business to empower farmers with updated information related to farming and marketing of agricultural produce. The objective of this paper is to explore the potential of mobile phones and mobile-enabled agricultural services in improving the agricultural performance of farmers. Farmers are benefiting from better access to information through mobile phones on seed variety selection, weather update, crop diseases and getting a better market price for their produce. Farmers equipped with information have a stronger bargaining position within existing trade relationships. The study adopted the constructs of Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) such as perceived usefulness, ease of use, self-efficacy, attitude of the respondent (farmer) and behavioural intention to measure mobile adoption behaviour of farmers in agriculture. Factor analysis and regression analysis are used to identify factors significantly affecting behavioural intention of adopting mobile technology and reach an effective conclusion.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore: the actual usage of generalized audit software (GAS) features among Egyptian external auditors, through the technology acceptance model (TAM); how the conceptual complexity of GAS features impact its actual usage; and what factors influencing the GAS use by Egyptian external auditors. Design/methodology/approach External audit professionals at 12 international audit firms, including the Big 4 and eight medium-sized firms, in Egypt were surveyed. Findings The results show that the basic features including database queries, ratio analysis, and audit sampling were higher in GAS use, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use among Egyptian external auditors than the advanced features: digital analysis, regression/ANOVA, and data mining classification. The structural equation modelling analysis by GAS features suggests that perceived ease of use has a stronger effect on GAS use when the conceptual complexity of GAS features is high. The analysis also support that the use of GAS by Egyptian external auditors is more affected by co-worker, supervisor, or organization through perceived usefulness, but not by job relevance, output quality, and result demonstration. Research limitations/implications Although Egyptian external auditors participated in this study may limit the extent to which the findings may be generalized, the responses provide an insight into the actual usage of GAS features by external auditors and the impact of conceptual complexity of GAS features, which is consistent with the literature concerning the relatively low level of utilizing the advanced features of GAS by internal auditors, suggesting that the issues revealed should be of concern. Practical implications The results reported in this paper are useful to audit software developers and audit firms in their understanding of factors influencing GAS usage in a different audit context. Originality/value The study adds value to prior research by providing context-contingent insight into the application of TAM in an unexplored audit context.

Abstract. Mobile payment is generally a payment tool in the form of software available in smartphones to make it easier for its users to make transactions anytime and anywhere his research aims to give empirical evidence of the influence of perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness, trust, and security on the interest in the use of mobile payment in Garut University students. We collect questionnaires from 100 students that are selected using the proportionate sampling method. The data is then analyzed using multiple linear regression. The analysis’ results show that both perceived of benefit and security variables partially has a positive effect while the perceived ease of use and trust has an insignificant effect on the interest in using mobile payments. This study provides an essential insight into how academic users in rural areas in Indonesia adopt electronic payment technologies. Blockchain has evolved as one of the disruptive technologies in the landscape of business. The study aims to investigate drivers of consumer adoption of blockchain for product origin and track to trace history before making a purchase. An extended technology adoption model (TAM) has been proposed to examine the consumer perspective for blockchain adoption in the food supply chain. Based on the survey of 208 retail consumers the proposed model was validated using variance-based structure equation modeling. Findings of the study emphasize the significant role of perceived security and privacy in developing trust, ease of use, and usefulness of blockchain-enabled systems. The relationship between perceived ease of use and attitude is mediated through perceived usefulness. The strong influence of attitude on adoption intention represents the consumer interest for blockchain to understand the product provenance. Study provides vital insights for successful blockchain implementation to enhance supply chain effectiveness.

The current research was carried out to investigate the correlation of educational background, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, socialization and quality of human resources with (SAK-EMKM) Implementation by reducing variables to several factors using the factor analysis method. Data  collection in this study with a questionnaire given to the  owner of the by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMB) in Mataram city and 40 UMKM samples were obtained using purposive sampling technique, factor analysis aim to reduce the dimensionality of a set of data and  clearly designed with the objective to identify certain unobservable factors from the observed variables. The results of this study were formed into two factors: 1st factor is these factors are termed the perception of the owner of the by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMB) formed from the perception and variables using SAK EMKM perception then against SAK-EMKM implementation has a positive effect. 2nd factor is these factor was human resources factors formed from the educational background variable and the quality of human resources variable and against SAK-EMKM implementation has positive correlation.

Online trading by farmers is a critical component of the agricultural supply chain. Perceived ease-of-use and perceived usefulness of a digital marketplace enhances trust and then farmers’ intention to use that digital marketplace. This study, by leveraging a mediation model, explores the usage drivers of digital marketplaces by farmers in India. Indeed, farmers' intrinsic propensity to trust generally is a moderator of the relationship between trust and intention to use a digital marketplace. We assert the relationship between (a) perceived ease-of-use of technology and trust and (b) perceived usefulness and trust is moderated by perceived self-efficacy by farmers and the digital marketplace platform provider’s reputation who is offering the digital marketplace service. This study contributes to the field of smart agri-food supply chain literature, by exploring willingness of Indian farmers to trade their produce on digital market places and potential factors of influence.

Purpose In the ever fast-changing modern world, through the use of digital banking services (DBS), the old concept of banking in a traditional way has been completely changed. It was made possible through the use of modern artificial intelligence embedded technologies. It was done to meet the ever-growing demands of customers through more user-friendly and time-saving uses of technologies. This paper aims to uncover and analyse the factors affecting the adoption of digital banking services by rural micro small and medium enterprises (MSMEs). MSME is one of the most active sectors in India. It plays an important role in the economic development of the country through exports and domestic supplies and by creating employment opportunities. Design/methodology/approach The study was conducted using a questionnaire survey. In total, 148 rural MSME owners were considered for the analysis in this study. Rural MSMEs in India are way behind in using digital banking services than their urban counterparts. The present study uses IBM SPSS and AMOS to shed light on the prevalent factors that influence the attitude to use digital banking services. Findings It is found out that convenience (which includes perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use), perceived self-efficacy, demonetization, performance expectancy and pandemic effect have a significant effect on the attitude to adopt DBS. The findings of the study will provide deeper insights for the banks as well as different government agencies to revamp their strategies in changing the financial landscape of the country through a “cashless economy”. Practical implications Demonetization, a boom in eCommerce in India, pandemic-related lockdowns or restrictions and the government’s push for the digital economy will aid the use of DBS at a faster pace. The outcome of the study will help both the government and the financial institutions to chalk out strategies to cater to the rural MSMEs in embracing DBS. Originality/value The use of digital services for banking in India is in a nascent stage, but the rate of adoption is increasing at a cyclonic speed. Affordable electronic devices, cheap internet and different medium of using DBS are fuelling the rapid increase; yet, limited research focuses on the differences in the rate of acceptance of digital banking services concerning rural MSMEs.
