Background Protection motivation to practice preventive behaviors is necessary for sustained mitigation during coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); however, limited research exists on the ecological sources of influence for COVID-19 protection motivation. Aim To explore sources of influence (family health, media consumption, and loss of work hours) on COVID-19 protection motivation. Method An online quantitative survey of U.S. adults ( N = 501) aged 18 years or older was administered using Qualtrics with participants recruited through Amazon Mechanical Turk. Data were collected on constructs related to the protection motivation theory and theory of planned behavior as well as sources of influence and intention to socially distance and socially isolate during COVID-19. Constructs were further defined through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Structural equation modeling was used to determine relationships between constructs. Results A two-factor model was identified with threat appraisal as one factor and subjective norms appraisal, coping appraisal, and behavioral intention loading as another factor. Higher news media consumption and loss of work hours due to COVID-19 were both significant predictors of increased threat appraisal. Family healthy lifestyle and family health resources were significantly related to increases in the subjective norms, coping appraisal, and behavioral intention appraisal factor. Conclusions Family health, news media consumption, and loss of work hours are associated with COVID-19 protection motivation. COVID-19 protection motivation might be enhanced through policies and messaging that can affect ecological sources of influence.

This study is designed to examine the behavioural intention of micro enterprises to use the Integrated Cash Waqf Micro Enterprise Investment (ICWME-I) model as a source of financing in Malaysia. The primary data are collected from the survey administered to micro entrepreneurs in the Klang Valley and the analysis is conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). Furthermore, the model has validated its acceptance in the field by adopting the Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA). This study has revealed that both the attitude and subjective norms are found to have a positive impact on the intention of micro entrepreneurs to use the ICWME-I Model in the context of Malaysia.

This study examines how household composition and news media consumption and trust are related to attitudes towards two minority groups—immigrants and refugees—in a representative sample of the adult population (n = 6000) in Belgium, Sweden, France, and the Netherlands. We find that Swedes hold the most positive attitudes towards both groups, while the French are found to be most negative. The Belgians and Dutch hold moderate attitudes. There is also evidence that attitudes on refugees are more negative than attitudes on immigrants in Sweden and France, but not in Belgium and the Netherlands. Using structural equation modeling, we find that household composition is not directly related to attitudes, but indirect effects through socio-economic status and media consumption indicate that singles hold more negative attitudes than couples. Public television consumption, popular online news consumption, and trust in media are positively related to attitudes, whereas commercial television consumption is negatively associated with them.

Place emotion is an important factor in studying the behavioral intention of tourists. Based on the planning behavior theory and goal-oriented behavior model, this article combines the actual situation of rural tourist, expands the behavioral theory, and constructs the tourist behavior of place emotion. This paper takes the World Cultural Heritage Sites Xidi and Hongcun as research cases and uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) research methods. The results indicate that the constructed behavior intention of tourists traveling in rural areas gives a good explanation and goodness of fit. The influence of place emotion on behavioral intention is stronger than attitude, subjective norm, and perceptual behavior control. Through multiple mediation analysis, attitudes have partial mediating effects on place emotions, perceptual behavior control, and subjective norms, and the place emotion has the most significant among the indirect effects, followed by subjective norms and perceptual behavior control. The results provide reliable advice for the sustainable development of rural tourism.

The purpose of this research study is to analyze and empirically prove the effects of attitude towards behavior, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on behavioral intention related to accepting the financial aggregator technology of CekAja.com. It is a quantitative study of Pangkalpinang society using an incidental sampling technique. To determine the sample size, the Maximum Likelihood Estimation (MLE) method was used. To collect the primary data used in this study, this writer conducted field research (by means of online and in person questionnaires) as well as a review of relevant literature. To analyze the data, this writer used the Covariance Based Structural Equation Modeling (CB-SEM) approach using the Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS) Version 22 and Statictical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) Version 25 analysis tools. The results of the research showed that attitude towards behavior positively and significantly influenced the behavioral intention of Pangkalpinang society in accepting the financial aggregator technology of CekAja.com; subjective norms did not have significant and positive influence on the behavioral intention of Pangkalpinang society in accepting the financial aggregator technology of CekAja.com; while perceived behavioral control positively and significantly influenced the behavioral intention of Pangkalpinang society in the accepting the financial aggregator technology of CekAja.com.

The study assesses the feasibility of vaccine tourism. Psychological factors, such as perceived stress and fear of COVID-19, were treated as the antecedents of the constructs of the theory of planned behavior (TPB). Data were collected from the respondents from India, and the partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) method was employed for the analysis. Results reveal that perceived stress and fear of COVID-19 positively and significantly influence attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. Furthermore, subjective norms predominantly influence behavioral intention. Likewise, perceived behavioral control and attitude influence behavioral intention.

The current study investigated what influences college students’ behavioral intention and behavior towards sports gambling using the theory of planned behavior (TPB) as a theoretical framework. The study also explored the moderation effect of problem gambling severity in the relationships between TPB determinants, behavioral intention, and sports gambling behavior. Data were collected from 334 college students from four different universities in the U.S. and analyzed through partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) and multi-group analysis. The results indicated that attitude was the most critical determinant of college students’ sports gambling intentions, followed by the subjective norms, while both behavioral intention and perceived behavioral control were significant predictors of sports gambling behavior. The study also found some meaningful moderation effects of problem gambling severity. Subjective norms were influential on college students with greater problem gambling severity, while attitude was the strongest predictor of recreational sports gamblers. Suggestions on prevention and treatment programs regarding sports gambling and problem gambling are discussed.

This study aims to analyze the acceptance of junior high school e-Rapor users using Extended Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by including Subjective Norms factor in the model. The research subjects were 60 e-Rapor users at public junior high school in Banjarmasin. Data collection instrument in the form of questionnaire consisting of 17 points of statement and using 5 point-Likert scale. The research data was analyzed using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with the assistance of SmartPLS 3.3.2 software. Based on the results of the study, it is known that Attitude towards Using Technology has a directly significant influence on the Behavioral Intention to use e-Rapor. On the contrary, Subjective Norms do not have a directly significant influence on the Behavioral Intention.

Governments have designated national parks to protect the natural environment against ecosystem destruction and improve individuals’ emotional and recreational life. National parks enhance environment-friendly awareness by conducting ecotourism activities and individuals with environment-friendly awareness are inclined to continue to visit national parks as ecotourism destinations. The New Environmental Paradigm (NEP) is a widely used measure of environmental concern, suitable for measuring the environment-friendly attitude and revisit intention of visitors of national parks. Therefore, the study carried out structural equation modeling (SEM) to investigate the relationship between the NEP, national park conservation consciousness and environment-friendly behavioral intention. Based on the results, an implication is presented to induce national parks to cultivate individual environment-friendly awareness and for visitors to pursue sustainable, environment-friendly tourism behavior. The findings indicate that national parks are to expand educational programs and facilities for eco-tourists visiting national parks to maintain a balanced relationship between themselves and nature and have a strong environmental awareness to preserve the natural environment.

Taiwan began to implement a new high school syllabus nationwide, in 2019. The Ministry of Education has also established a high school student Academic Portfolio System (APS) to collect the learning process of high school students for future university admissions references. However, during this period, high school students and their parents had many opinions on the implementation of the new system. There were even groups of students protesting. The main purpose of this research is to explore the factors that affect the system usage intentions of high school students. Based on the theory of reasoned action (TRA) and the technology acceptance model (TAM), this research established a research model. The research variables include system interface design, usefulness, ease of use, attitude, subjective norms, and usage intentions. A total of 712 questionnaires were collected from high school students in northern Taiwan. Data analysis is carried out in three stages: descriptive analysis, measurement model verification, and structural equation modeling. The results of the study found that system interface design has a significant impact on the perceived ease of use. Factors such as ease of use, usefulness, attitude, and subjective norms also have a significant positive impact on usage intention; ease of use and usefulness positively affect attitudes toward using. Finally, according to the results, some practical implications were proposed for implementation references from the perspectives of education authority, high schools, teachers, and students.

This study investigated the relationship among tourists’ perceived sustainability, aesthetic experience, and behavioral intention toward reused heritage buildings by employing stimulus–organism–response theory. There were 354 valid questionnaires collected from the Sputnik Lab in Tainan, Taiwan. A positive correlation was found between tourists’ perception of sustainability and aesthetic experience. When tourists perceived higher aesthetic experience, they also had stronger behavioral intention. Structural equation modeling analysis verified that the aesthetic experience of tourists had mediating effects between perceived sustainability and behavioral intention in the reused heritage space. The reuse of space should be attached significantly to the aesthetic display of space and service so as to promote such scenic spots and increase tourists’ intention to revisit through word of mouth.
