Usability tests often include recording of users' behaviors as they interact with a computer; unfortunately, these data are often underused for design due to their complexity and the difficulty in interpreting them. In recent years, a variety of methods have been proposed for analyzing user behavioral sequences. In this paper we propose five criteria for evaluating the quality and effectiveness of any such method – (1) standardization and repeatability of the method; (2) simplification of the data; (3) validity; (4) interpretable visual representation of the data that suggests design implications; and (5) output that is amenable to additional analyses. We describe how the PRONET method – an analytical method that uses the Pathfinder algorithm to produce network representations of behavioral sequences – successfully addresses these five criteria. Finally, we argue that test design should be conceived of in a framework of usability engineering, thereby leading to the creation of more usable test methods.

In the thoughts and beliefs of Iranians, kingdom has had a history of the creation of human beings on the earth. Accordingly, Iranians believe that the first creature and human being on the earth was the first king of Iran. Iranians connects the history of their mythical royal dynasties to the creation of humanity. For Iranians, the mythical kings of Iran are the creators of the royal institution and the functions and duties of the royal institution have been established, developed and transferred to next generations by the measures of these kings. The objective of the present study is to investigate the establishment of the royal institution and the development of royal institution in ancient Iran by a descriptive-analytical method. The findings indicate that Iranians had specific sacredness for their kings and called the first creature of Ahura Mazda as the King. In addition, they believed that kings should perform particular tasks whose formation was attributed to the mythical kings of Iran. Further, they believed that only those persons had the right of being a king who were from the race of kings and were approved by Ahura Mazda. to examine Lessing’s elucidation of authentic knowledge in Shikasta. The methodology appropriated in the paper entails depiction of visible world as an illusion of the Real pointed in Plato’s allegory of Cave and Nagarjuna’s Mundane Truth. We clarify emotion as the main motivator of such illusionary status stressed in both Plato and Nagarjuna’s thoughts. We argue that while the importance of reason and eradicating emotion cannot be ignored, what adjoins people to Truth is mindfulness and intuitive knowledge which is close to Nagarjuna’s non-dual patterns. By examining ordinary life as the illusion of Real, and emotion as the main obstacle to achieve the Truth emphasized in both Nagarjuna and Plato’s trends, we depart from other critics who undermine the eminence of essentialist trace in Lessing’s works and examine her approach towards Truth merely under postmodern lens. This departure is significant since we clarify while essentialism has been abandoned to a large extent and supporters of Plato have become scarce, amalgamation of his thoughts with spiritual trends opens a fresh way to earn authenticity in Lessing’s novel.

Test dose methods have been used to predict the maintenance dosage of lithium carbonate tablets in bipolar patients. These methods require a lithium analytical method that is accurate to the second decimal place. Successful use of these test methods has employed the atomic absorption spectrophotometric method, yet many hospitals use a flame spectrophotometric method. We evaluated a two-point method to predict lithium maintenance dosages of slow-release lithium carbonate tablets in 20 bipolar patients using both assay methodologies. No clinically significant differences were found between the two sets of predictions, suggesting that either assay methodology has requisite sensitivity and accuracy for use in test dose predictions of lithium maintenance dosages.

Abstract A critical consideration shows that the test methods in current use for vulcanizates often fail to make possible a reliable decision about different rubber compounds out of a series of development formulations with respect to their evaluation for subsequent use. The tester by himself is not in a position to bring about an improvement in this unsatisfactory state of affairs, since this cannot be accomplished by the improvement of existing methods alone or by the creation of a new apparatus. A closer cooperation between the fields of testing and application is necessary.

This paper presents an analytical method on the investigation of the motion characteristics of a class of spatial mechanical components involving the ball-and-trunnion type of joint, namely, the multiple-pode joint. Algebraic derivations of the input-output equation and explicit relations for motion parameters are presented for these joints as well as their shaft couplings. From this general displacement analysis, some insights into the basic nature and behavior of the multiple-pode joint are observed and interpreted. The creation of shaft couplings using these joints and their functional analysis are also illustrated in several cases.

Objective: A quality improvement tool is provided to improve pharmacy workflow with the goal of minimizing errors caused by workflow issues. This study involved workflow evaluation and reorganization, and staff opinions of these proposed changes. Practice Description: The study pharmacy was an outpatient pharmacy in the Tucson area. However, the quality improvement tool may be applied in all pharmacy settings, including but not limited to community, hospital, and independent pharmacies. Practice Innovation: This tool can help the user to identify potential workflow problem spots, such as high-traffic areas through the creation of current and proposed workflow diagrams. Creating a visual representation can help the user to identify problem spots and to propose changes to optimize workflow. It may also be helpful to assess employees’ opinions of these changes. Conclusion: The workflow improvement tool can be used to assess where improvements are needed in a pharmacy’s floor plan and workflow. Suggestions for improvements in the study pharmacy included increasing the number of verification points and decreasing high traffic areas in the workflow. The employees of the study pharmacy felt that the proposed changes displayed greater continuity, sufficiency, accessibility, and space within the pharmacy.

Transient saturation characteristics of TPY-type current transformer have great impact on the right action of line differential protection. This paper proposes an analytical method of line differential protection under current transformer saturation by utilizing current transformer model and test methods. The true current value of primary side can be obtained by our proposed method and therefore it yields correct assessment of line operating status. This method has high reliability applying to practical engineering examples of differential protection.

This paper considers Marian iconography in which the Virgin is depicted sitting on the ground, known as the Virgin of Humility. The creation of this Marian type coincides with Saint Thomas’s systematization of the virtues, which resulted in a decline in the importance of the virtue of Humility. The combination of both cultural traditions has led to a correspondence between the virtue of Humility and the images of the Virgin of Humility. The genesis of this latter type is based on the textual sources and part of the visual representation of Humility, which was replaced during the 14th and 15th centuries.

The article covers issues related to the specifics of requirements for the personal protection equipment (PPE) in the field of the nuclear power usage, and briefly describes the history of the PPE evolvement. This work was performed by the employees of the A.I. Burnazyan Federal Medical Biophysical Centre (former Institute of biophysics) which has been creating and enhancing PPE for the personnel of radiation hazardous facilities for more than 60 years. Successes of the PPE developers include the creation of the light respirator “ShB-1 Lepestok” which has been in use since 1950s till now in almost all industries, energy engineering, agriculture, medicine, etc., as well as the development of materials, structures, technology of manufacturing and practical application of reusable, decontaminable, physiologically acceptable insulating suits, fresh-air horse respiratory PPE, decontaminable basic and supplementary overalls and safety footwear for the personnel of nuclear industry and energetics. The system of the personal protection from radiation exposure has been proved during rectification of the consequences of the accident at the Chernobyl NPP. The article examines interim results of major transformation of the personal protection system for the personnel of radiation hazardous facilities in the beginning of 21st century. At the present time efforts on the creation of the PPE standardization and certification system in nuclear industry become regular again. Interstate and national standards regulating requirements and test methods for PPE and materials for its manufacturing, as well as the Technical Regulations “Safety of the personal protection equipment” have been both developed and put in practice. Methods of testing PPE with substances specific to the nuclear industry are being developed, and the Rosatom’s PPE certification system is being formed.
