Space-based Earth observation is now developing rapidly because of the advantages in coverage, convenience, and flexibility. However, it is difficult for one single satellite to realize the quick observation of wide areas. In order to catch all the significant information of a wide area in a short time, multi-satellite observation mission would be proposed. In this article, a mission planning method for online multi-satellite wide area observation is established to serve future multi-satellite observation missions. Firstly, a method for area division is proposed, and the whole area is divided into subareas. Then the multi-satellite observation path planning is realized by a strategy of path deduction. After that, a remaining time allocation method to maximize the observation gazing time of each subarea is proposed. Finally, the algorithms for the whole mission planning process are provided. Numerical simulations show that the mission planning method is able to ensure the complete coverage of different wide target areas, with high reliability and low computational complexity.

At the tertiary level, English as a General Subject supports the learning process's main course. The observations show they are not yet proficient enough to use it. It causes indisposed motivation, dearth vocabulary, low learning interest, short time allocation, and others. Therefore, the researchers provide a solution by applying the Integrated Approach. The research objectives are to determine whether the Integrated Approach can improve English competency and learning motivation, how the learners’ improvement process, and what factors influence these improvements. It is action research, which was Accounting majoring students as subjects - Islamic University of Indragiri. The data collection process used tests and questionnaires. Furthermore, the results showed an increase in their competence and motivation to learn English before and after the Integrated Approach. The improvement process covers several activities; socializing, analyzing, monitoring, guiding, and practicing. Meanwhile, the development affecting factors are internal and external factors such as learning motivation, teaching methods, and the instructors’ roles. In conclusion, the Integrated Approach application positively contributes to the learners’ learning outcomes and motivation.

This study deals with a new method to plan fixture conditions of a workpiece on a trunnion table in a continuous multi-axis-controlled machine tool. The motion of the translational axes on the machine tool is usually greatly affected by machine tool structure, tool posture change, and the fixture conditions of the workpiece. However, in a conventional CAM scheme, the fixture conditions are designed to be determined separately. Furthermore, a method of planning these conditions to reduce total machining time has not been proposed. Therefore, this paper proposes a new planning method for workpiece position and posture on a trunnion table. The proposed method consists of two different steps. In the first step, a large number of fixture condition candidates are assumed automatically. In the second step, geometric calculations are executed to estimate the distribution of features in terms of motion on the translation axes. The second step is equivalent to the repetition of coordinate transformations in the conventional post process software. In the developed prototype system, parallel processing technology known as GPGPU is introduced to drastically reduce calculation time. The developed system can visualize differences in total travel distance, maximum velocity, and total machining time for each candidate. These results can assist a CAM operator in selecting the optimal fixture conditions in a short time.

Through the photovoltaic effect the energy contained in the sunlight can be converted directly into electrical energy. This method of energy conversion presents some advantages, such as: Its modular characteristic offers large flexibility in the design and application of this kind of energy generator. Short time of installation and operation. High reliability, and low maintenance.

Abstract A quantitative study of the population structure of activated sludge is an important component of biological wastewater treatment control. However, in the studying of live samples of the activated sludge, some complications arise, in particular, associated with the relatively short time of the subsample suitability. A subsample is the part of the sample that is placed on a glass slide and in which organisms are counted. The issue of optimization of counts of organisms with large amplitude of population density is considered. The results of counting ciliated protozoa in activated sludge were described. The samples were counted in 45 sub-samples of 25 µl each. An average of 10 counts was required to achieve high reliability in determining population densities with more than or equal to 1 specimen per 25 µl in sub-samples. For small population densities (less one specimen per 25 µl) of free-swimming, crawling, and sessile ciliates, 30 counts are necessary. When the density of colonial protozoan populations is established, the number of counts should be increased to 40, especially when colonies with significant differences in the number of zooids are found.
