YouTube is the preferred online platform for today’s teenagers. As such, this article explores the relationship between socialization processes in adolescent peer culture and the meanings behind the production and reception of YouTube videos by teenage audiences. Two fields of enquiry comprise the data analyzed in this article. First, through content analysis, we studied the production of videos on YouTube by teenagers between the ages of 14 and 18. The discursive construction of an audience is expressed by YouTubers through intimate identity performances using specific, dialogical, and conversational modes. The second study investigated the reception of these videos by teenagers between the ages of 12 and 19 through the use of focus groups and in-depth interviews. The results explained the way young people develop a sense of closeness with YouTubers. When examined collectively, our studies reveal how teenage YouTube practices, both as production and reception of content, constitute a twofold social recognition process that incorporates a capacity to recognize oneself in others—like figures with whom one can identify with—and a need to be recognized by others as beings of value. The “intimate confessional production format,” as we have termed it, reinforces this bond.

Objetivo: analisar a contribuição da formação em enfermagem para a (re)construção da identidade profissional de enfermeiros e sua expressão pós-ingresso no mercado de trabalho. Método: estudo qualitativo com abordagem socio-histórica, realizado entre setembro de 2013 a maio de 2014, que utilizou a história oral, em entrevistas com dezesseis egressos e quatro docentes do curso de Enfermagem e Obstetrícia da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte. Resultados: ma análise de conteúdo constatou-se a importância da formação na construção da identidade profissional de enfermeiros, mas que estes também contribuíram para o reconhecimento da profissão. Reconhecendo-se, nesta dialética, que os processos de socializações, ao mesmo tempo em que influenciam a construção de identidades dos sujeitos são por eles reestruturados. Conclusão: evidenciou-se a ação educativa dos docentes, não só como mediadores da aprendizagem, mas por promoverem também o reconhecimento social e contribuírem à constituição da identidade profissional desses egressos.ABSTRACTObjective: to examine the contribution of nursing education to (re)constructing nurses’ professional identity and its expression after their admission to the labor market. AbstractLimited academic attention has been afforded to young workers relative to their adult counterparts. This study addresses a phase of the employment relationship for young people that is very infrequently examined – during or around the time when the relationship ends. It examines the relative frequency of different forms of dismissal and the circumstances preceding the dismissals via a content analysis of 1259 cases of employee enquiries to a community advocacy organisation in Australia. Results indicate that dismissal was most commonly associated with bullying, harassment, and taking personal leave. Young men, compared to young women, were disproportionately likely to report allegations of misconduct as preceding dismissal, while females experienced higher rates of sexual harassment and discrimination. The research highlights the types and circumstances of dismissal across a range of employment contexts and reveals the complexities of youth employment relationships which may differ from those of the general workforce.

The purpose of this article is to examine the role of moral feelings—guilt and shame —in the emergence and aftermath of intimate violence, and the way in which these emotions affect the self and behaviors of those involved. This is a phenomenological study using content analysis of in-depth interviews with 20 male batterers and their female partners. The findings indicate that the extent of authenticity and assumption of responsibility concerning moral feelings will determine whether these will or will not lead to intimate violence. Thus it becomes possible to trace five alternative paths of the relationship between moral feelings and intimate violence. Implications for theorizing and future research about the role of moral feelings in intimate violence are suggested.

Tourism development should provide space for young people to actively participate in managing nature as a sharia-based tourist destination to support sustainability. The purpose of this research is to identify and analyze the role of youth in the utilization of prabu mountain forest area to become an ecotourism destination based on halal tourism. This research was conducted in Prabu Mountain Village Prabu District Pujut Central Lombok Regency. The research method used is a method of qualitaitf research using content analysis. Data collection is conducted by observation, documentation and in-depth interviews with youth ecotourism destination managers who are members of Pokdarwis Prabu Indah, the Community of Prabu Youth Front and Bangkang Bersatu Youth. The results of this study show that there is an important role of youth in managing and utilizing the forest area of Mount Prabu into halal ecotourism destinations such as: 1) Moral Strength. 2) Social Control. 3) Change Agent

In recent years, two unrelated developments have opened up new opportunities for examining how young people relate to climate change and participate in climate politics. First, there is a fast-growing literature in sociology and youth studies concerned with the roles of imagined futures in social action. Second, and more recent, is an explosion of youth-based climate activism, particularly the Fridays For Future movement. In this paper, I draw from in-depth interviews with participants in the Fridays For Future protests in London in Spring 2019, arguing that in this case of youth mobilization, protesters relied on shared, overarching narratives about the future of climate change, albeit ones that allow room for some divergence in opinion. In particular, I examine how regular involvement in the movement influenced participants’ imagined futures. Drawing from studies of similar issues by Kleres and Wettergren (2017) and Threadgold (2012), and from the phenomenological concept of “orientation” (Ahmed, 2005; Carabelli and Lyon, 2016), I argue that regular and repeated participation in climate activism engenders optimism among youth. This opens new ways of thinking about the relationship between political action and young people’s anticipations of climate change, with implications for scholarship of imagined futures, youth politics and climate politics.

It is intended an approach to the relationship of music public radio in Spain with streaming music services. The Internet provides the music industry new forms of music distribution and streaming music services have an important role in this scenario. Personalisation and immediacy may be a threat, but also it could be an opportunity for music public radio, usually associated with prescription and legitimacy. In addition, the Internet strengthens the relationship between radio and listeners and especially among young people, an aspect that has been extensively studied, but less so in relation to streaming music services. Therefore, this issue is addressed with a methodology that combines content analysis with interviews. The results show a scarce presence of music public radio in Spain on streaming music services that should be urgently solved.

Objective - This article aims to examine the relationship in the social network of Thai student labourers or special migrants known as “Thai-Aus labourers”, who are studying and working in Sydney, Australia. Methodology/Technique – Data was collected via in-depth interviews with 18 key Thai-Aus labourers in Sydney, Australia. These key informants were selected using the snowball technique. Content analysis was performed with the data based on the ATLAS.ti programme, and the social networks were analysed using the Ucinet and Netdraw programme. Finding – The results conclude that the relationships within the social networks of the Thai-Aus labourers were complex, although they each shared the same goal. The relationships were principally based on benefit exchange even though personal relationships appeared on the surface. Novelty - The directional flow in the pattern of benefit-giving and receiving, and the duration, did not affect relationships, which depended more on personal cases. Type of Paper: Empirical. Purpose This paper aims to identify the dimensions of a firm’s service innovation competence. This paper also aims to establish the relationship between a firm’s service innovation competence dimensions and customer-oriented service innovation configurations and customer adoption. This study probes the supply side of service innovation to assess the key drivers or capabilities that influence the service innovation process at the firm level. Design/methodology/approach This study uses the triangulation method using existing theoretical concept supplemented by 18 in-depth interviews of senior level managers from service firms from three sectors – hospitality, mobile telecommunication services and financial services. The interview findings were supplemented by 12 service innovation case studies (four from each sector). Content analysis of in-depth interviews was performed using three raters, and inter-rater reliability was tested. Case studies were categorized in terms of the strength of the innovation competence dimension observed. Findings Based on the content analysis of the interviews and categorization of case study observations, six distinct dimensions of the firm’s service innovation competence were identified. Four attributes of each dimension were also identified. Based on the interview insights and case observations, seven propositions are suggested, and a conceptual framework is presented to establish the relationship between the firm’s service innovation competence dimensions and service innovation configurations and customer adoption. Research limitations/implications This study was conducted in the Indian context and remains to be tested using quantitative research. Therefore, researchers are encouraged to test the proposed framework in a different geographical context to ascertain its validity. Practical implications The conceptual framework presented in the paper may help managers of service firms in building innovation capabilities that are relevant to development of customer-oriented innovations. This would lead to better customer adoption of their new services. Originality/value This paper fills an important knowledge gap regarding the dimensions of a critical supply-side component of service innovation, that is, innovation competence. Clear identification of competence dimensions and their relationship with customer adoption extends the current knowledge on service innovation.
