Abstract Background The shortage of psychiatric nurses is a major healthcare challenge. Lack of interest (LOI) contributes to the shortage of psychiatric nurses. Nonetheless, there are limited studies in this area. The present study was conducted to explore nurses’ experiences of the causes of their LOI in working in psychiatric wards. Methods This qualitative study was conducted in 2016–2019 using the content analysis approach. Participants were 27 nurses purposively recruited with maximum variation from the psychiatric wards of three referral hospitals in Iran. Data were collected via unstructured interviews and were concurrently analyzed using the conventional content analysis approach recommended by Graneheim and Lundman. Results The causes of participants’ LOI in working in psychiatric wards were grouped into three main categories, namely inadequate professional skills for psychiatric care practice, negative public attitude towards psychiatric nurses, and concerns over patients. Conclusion This study suggests that the causes of nurses’ LOI in working in psychiatric wards are not only personal, but also social and organizational. Findings help managers and authorities develop strategies to increase psychiatric nurses’ interest in working in psychiatric wards through improving their work conditions and professional knowledge and skills.

Lewy body disease (LBD) is a devastating condition with cognitive and physical deficits that pose a challenge to family caregivers. The purpose of this study was to identify the needs and concerns of family caregivers of persons with LBD. A convenience sample of LBD caregivers were interviewed regarding their caregiving needs, concerns, strategies, and advice. A content analysis approach was used to organize data into themes from an existing needs and concerns framework. Findings included the need for more information about the disease, strategies for managing LBD-related emotions and behaviors, support and assistance with physical and instrumental care, and strategies for managing one’s own personal responses to caregiving. Findings highlight the need for a Lewy body specific caregiver assessment tool and future caregiver interventions.

Abstract: This study discussed the themes of multimedia proselytising on Facebook used by Makassar's preachers as well as the usage of various forms of multimedia to convey messages to audiences (mad'u) through the Facebook social network. This research was a qualitative study using a content analysis approach. The results of the study stated that the themes conveyed by the preachers were aqidah (faith), sharia (Islamic law), akhlak (manner) morals, mu'amalah (dealings between people), and general messages, such as education, behaviour, and defending the country. While the forms of multimedia proselytising used by da'i (Islamic preachers) were the textual message, images, audio, and video. In addition, da'i needed to improve the quality of material and media da'wa by using information technology through internet media in order to get effective communication (da'wah).

<p><strong>BACKGROUND: </strong>Nursing staff encounter a lot of physical, psychological and social stressors at work. Because the adverse effects of job stress on the health of this group of staff and subsequently on the quality of care services provided by nurses; study and identify how nurses cope with the job stress is very important and can help prevent the occurrence of unfavorable outcomes.</p> <p><strong>OBJECTIVES: </strong>The aim of this study was to explore the experiences of nurses to identify the strategies they used to cope with the job stress.</p> <p><strong>METHODS: </strong>In this qualitative study content analysis approach was used. Purposive sampling approach was applied. The sample population included 18 nurses working in three hospitals. Data collection was conducted through face to face unstructured interview and was analyzed using conventional content analysis approach.<strong></strong></p> <p><strong>FINDINGS: </strong>The analysis of the data emerged six main themes about the strategies used by nurses to cope with job stress, which, include: situational control of conditions, seeking help, preventive monitoring of situation, self-controlling, avoidance and escape and spiritual coping.<strong></strong></p> <p><strong>CONCLUSIONS: </strong>exploring experiences of nurses on how to cope with job stress emerged context-dependent and original strategies and this knowledge can pave the ground for nurses to increase self-awareness of how to cope with job stress. And could also be the basis for planning and the adoption of necessary measures by the authorities to adapt nurses with their profession better and improves their health which are essential elements to fulfill high-quality nursing care.</p>

The concept of nursing knowledge and development of its body has become more important along with growth in phenomenon of professionalism of nursing. Nursing as a profession should have a deep look at the creation of new knowledge to provide services to clients. The exploration of knowledge creation space in clinical setting may be is the first important step. The objectives of this study was to explore the nurses’ experiences of knowledge creation space in clinical setting. A qualitative method with conventional content analysis approach was selected. Seventeen semi-structured interviews were conducted with staff nurses, head nurses, and supervisors working in tow teaching hospitals located in Tehran, Iran. The conventional content analysis approach was used for data analysis. Four main themes emerged from experiences of participants in this study included "scientific discussion", "sharing of clinical experiences." "Enrichment of conference and clinical unit rounds “and "Establishing interpersonal relations". It seems based on the experiences of the nurses who have participated in this study that the knowledge creation space in nursing to be an interactive space that is created following to formation of a scientific discussion, enrichment of clinical rounds and conferences and sharing clinical experiences among the nurses. Thus, the nursing managers should prepare the conditions in which the nurses to be encouraged for holding further scientific discussions upon clinical conferences and rounds, nursing reports, delivery and receiving the patients in addition to establishing appropriate interpersonal relationships and at the same time to show more tendency to share their clinical experiences with each other.

Background: One of the ways through which the quality of the hospital services can be improved is the accreditation, and most of the countries have launched their own accreditation system as a strategy to improve services. The aim of this research was to investigate the way of implementing the accreditation programs at Shahid Motahhari educational center in Marvdasht city. Methods: The current study was qualitative with conventional content analysis which was conducted by using the semi-structured interviews with eight officials and employees of Marvdasht Shahid Motahhari Medical Education Center in 2017. Purposeful sampling was done in this study and the next stage; the snowball sampling method was used to select the desired samples. Data were gathered to reach the data saturation point, and conventional content analysis was done to analyze the research data. Results: Two main themes and nineteen sub-themes were obtained through the nine categories. Self-confidence in the team, sense of superiority and achievement, all units’ coordination, accurate and scientific coherent supervision and management, and considering the book of standards as a guiding factor are among the strengths of this research.Poor management of programs, lack of proper context while running the program, lack of proper training, lack of financial and human resources, lack of commitment and interest in implementing the program among different groups were main identified barriers of the program. Conclusion: The effective factors on the implementation of the accreditation standards in the healthcarecenters should be identified. Besides, planning effective education, continued monitoring and assessing, creating suitable contexts of financial and human resources,consolidating the strengths and using the available potentials can be effective factors in line with the implemetation of accreditation standards.   Keywords: Accreditation, Hospital, Qualitative study, Evaluation

Abstract Background: due to the increasing importance of addicted women and the need to pay particular attention to this vulnerable group, and more awareness of women-specific addiction prevention and rehab programs among authorities. Objectives: In this content analysis of qualitative study we explored experiences of the women’s experience of the ups and downs of drug rehab Methods: 30 participants (addicted women) were selected through purposive and theoretical sampling until data saturation. Data collection was conducted through semi structured interviews. Conventional content analysis was utilized to analyze the transcribed interviews. Results: Based on analysis of the obtained results, the experience of women from the ups and downs of leaving the drug abuse yielded two themes and nine sub-themes. The themes were “the need for emancipation” and “Sinking factors”. Conclusions: It is concluded that addiction rehab strategies can only lead the addicted women to a brighter life when, along with open-hearted assistance by the families, women-specific rehab centers are established to help them meet their specific needs. Abstract Background: Due to getting optimal psychiatric nursing care, competent psychiatric nurses is required. One approach for MSc psychiatric nursing students` optimal clinical competency is clinical education. Identifying the factors affecting on achieving maximum scientific and technical abilities, education would be more effective. This study aims to explore the meta competency required in MSc students in psychiatric nursing.Methods: This is a qualitative study with content analysis approach conducted on 21 participants in Iran. Sampling were done based on purposive sampling. Data were collected using individual semi structured and in-depth interviews. Collected data were analyzed using the conventional content analysis. The rigor of qualitative data were assessed using the 4 criteria proposed by Guba and Lincoln. Results: Four dimensions were revealed: (1)Thinking and clinical reasoning skills, (2)Dynamic learning, (3)Research and evidence based practice, (4)Human and organizational management. Each category had several distinct sub-categories.Conclusions: The results of this study showed that meta-competency for psychiatric nursing MSc students is multidimensional concept. The findings of the study can be used for educating MSc students in psychiatric nursing and evaluating meta competency. More studies on meta competency required psychiatric nursing students and designing an objective tool for assessing them meta competency in Iran are proposed.

Abstract Background: Nursing is a caring profession. Due to the nature of their, nurses need moral courage to deliver safe nursing care. Research results have reported a low level of moral courage in the majority of nurses. So the current study aimed to explore the barriers to the formation of moral courage nurses who work in hospitals.Methods: In this qualitative study, conventional content analysis was used to explain the barriers to moral courage in hospital nurses. Data was gathered using in-person, semi-structured in-depth interviews. Interviews were conducted from March to September 2020. Purposeful sampling was used and sampling was continued until data saturation was reached. Data were analyzed using conventional content analysis. Participants were 19 nurses working in hospitals in Iran. Results: Three main themes extracted including organizational failure, deterrent individual identity, and defeated professional culture as well as six categories and eighteen sub-categories.Conclusions: The results of this study revealed the barriers to moral courage which were usually overlooked in previous quantitative studies. It appears that the elimination of these barriers is an effective step in the improvement of nurses’ competencies and delivered care. The results of this study can be helpful in the development of management programs to identify the factors affecting nurses' moral courage and how to improve it.
