Iron is an assential element for the growth, division, differentiation and functioning of any cell in the body. Iron is virtually important for human and danger at the same time, because with excessive accumulation it causes oxidative stress with formation of highly active oxygen radicals and reactive form of nitrogen that can destroy cell membranes, proteins, nucleic acids, reduce cell viability, with, according to modern concepts, can contribute to the development of many diseases (cardiovascular, rheumatic, gastrointestinal, neurodegenerative, oncological, metabolic and others), and also accelerate the aging process. Part 1 of this review discussed the issues of iron metabolism in human, including its regulation at the cellular and systemic levels, the intake, transport, use, accumulation and export of iron in cells, the role of the labile iron pool in the cytoplasm of cells and plasma non-transferrin bound iron. Data are provided on the causes, frequency and significance of iron overload in the formation of free radicals and the development of oxidative stress. Part 2 of the review provides information on diseases associated with iron overload as well as information on ferroptosis - a new type of iron-dependent regulated cell death. Attention is paid to the works of domestic authors, where it was found that prolonged use of drinking water with a high iron content is unfavorable for the population and leads to an increase in the overall incidence, the development of the diseases of the blood, skin and subcutaneous tissue, musculoskeletal system, digestive system, urogenital system, and allergic diseases. Separate publications are cited on the possibility of a negative effect of iron at concentrations in water of 0.3 mg/l and lower. The material of the review emphasizes the preventive significance of caution attitude to regulating iron in the water in the Russian Federation, where 1/3 of the population uses iron-containing water for drinking, and substantiate the feasibility of establishing a hygienic limit for iron in water not higher than 0.3 mg/l.

Abstract Background This study aimed to retrospectively analyze the correlation between congenital abnormality of the urogenital system and various factors in children with neural tube defects (NTDs). Methods A total of 190 children with congenital NTDs, who were admitted to a hospital from May 2013 to May 2018, were included into the present study. All admitted children with congenital NTDs were carried out routine abdominal B-ultrasound examinations to determine the malformations of the abdominal organs, including the urinary system. Children with a B-ultrasound result of suspected and unsure malformation underwent intravenous pyelography (IVP) and voiding cysto-urethrography (VCU), and this was further confirmed by the CT results. Results The incidence of urogenital malformation was 12.1% (23/190) in children with congenital NTDs. For the 23 children with urogenital malformations, most of these children had no definite urinary system symptoms, while some of these children had multiple incidences of urinary system infections. Conclusions Congenital NTDs are often combined with urogenital malformations, if not specifically searched these may be overlooked. The early detection of these malformations is beneficial to reduce the risk of operation and improve the prognosis.

Study of protozoyny invazions of the uroganital system with combination of microorganisms which are associated with bacterial vaginosis by women of fertil age and their sexual partners men is perspective direction of modern medicine. The development of this direction can increase the level of diagnostic inspection of patients by transmissible mainly sexual way infections and improve of efficiency of their treatment. The objective: exposure of combine defeats of uroganital system with different kinds of trichomonas or lamblias and microorganisms which are associated with bacterial vaginosis, for the women of fertil age and their sexual partners – men. All patients have infections, transmissible mainly sexual way with a chronic process and their treatment. Materials and methods. The special research of biomaterial, taken from the urogenital system of women of fertil age and their sexual partners-men, patients infections, transmissible mainly sexual way with a chronic process is conducted. 198 patients were inspected in clinic. Used the method of PCR, amplifier of DT-96, reagents of «Femoflor-16», praymeris for the indication of Trichomonas vaginalis, Trichomonas tenax, Pentatrichomonas hominis and Giardia lamblia. Results. Protozoyny invasions of the urogenital system determined at 88 (44.4%) of patients. At 77 (38.8%) from them determined the differet kinds of trichomonadies: Trichomonas tenax – at 41 (20.7%), Pentatrichomonas hominis – at 28 (14.1%), Trichomonas vaginalis – at 8 (4%). Giardia lamblia determined from 11 patients (5.6%). For 92% inspected patients with a protozoal invasions were determined the increassng of indexes of microflora, associated with bacterial vaginosis. The treatment of combine pathology of urogenital system which are caused different kinds trichomonades and microorganisms, which associated with BV, were conducted with etiotropic therapy. Seknidox used 2 tablets one time per day during 5 days. Orcipol used 1 tablets 3 or 2 times per a day (depending on weight) during 10 days. In research took part 56 patients with chronic ITSW. By 54 patients (96.4%) were eliminated of trichomonas. The normalization microflora’s level is attained for a 31 (57.4%) patient. Decrease of mocroflora’s, which associated with BV is marked by 24 patients (42.6%). Conclusions. This original method of treatment, is effective, has satisfactory bearableness and can be recommended for empiric therapy of combined pathology of urogenital system, caused of protozoyny invasions (different kinds of trichomonas) and microorganisms, associated with bacterial vaginosis, for the women of fertil age and their sexual partners with chronic infections, transmissible mainly sexual a way. This agents have a certain role in development of diseases of the urogenital system. Key words: Trichomonas vaginalis, Trichomonas tenax, Pentatrichomonas hominis, Giardia lamblia, invasion, fertil age.

A clinical and immunological examination of 140 women with verified cipher B 37.3-inflammatory disease caused by yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida, characterized by the presence of 4 or more episodes during the year, is carried out. Before the start of therapy, an imbalance of cellular and humoral factors of innate immunity, the content of cytokines in the vaginal secretion, was detected. The optical radiation of a low-intensity laser was included in the scheme of therapeutic measures, starting from the first day of treatment. The results of the study demonstrate that local exposure on the vulva and vagina with laser radiation with a wavelength of 635 nm, with the power of 5 mW, for 10 minutes per area for a 10-day period reliably reduce the severity of objective and subjective symptoms of vaginal candidiasis, reduce the number of relapses, forming a long interrecurrent period, and normalizes the state of factors of local antimicrobial protection on the surface of the mucous membranes of the lower part of the urogenital system.

This study reports the expression pattern of the murine homeobox-containing gene Hox-2.3 during development. Using in situ hybridization, we first detect Hox-2.3 transcripts in the allantois primordium at 7.5 days post coitum (p.c.). One day later transcripts are found in embryonic ectoderm and mesoderm. In 9.5- and 10.5- day embryos Hox-2.3 expression is observed in the central nervous system (CNS) from a rostral boundary in the upper spinal cord to the caudal end. Within this anteroposterior domain, Hox-2.3 expression is also found in the peripheral nervous system, in the mesoderm and in the hindgut epithelium. The rostral boundary in the mesoderm is located at the level of the 11th somite and thus shifted posteriorwards compared to the rostral boundary in the neural tube. During subsequent development, the initially broad expression pattern in the somitic, lateral plate and intermediate mesoderm becomes restricted to structures in the urogenital system. In adults, the spinal cord and the derivatives of the Wolffian and Mullerian ducts continue to express the gene at a high level. The described temporal and tissue-specific changes in expression of Hox-2.3 are suggestive of several levels of regulation as reported for Drosophila homeotic genes and argue for more than one role of the gene during development and in adults.

To study the late health effects of nasopharyngeal radium irradiation, a nonconcurrent prospective study was conducted in The Netherlands. Exposed subjects ( n = 2510) were treated unilaterally with nasopharyngeal radium irradiation at five ear, nose, and throat clinics between 1945 and 1965 and followed up through February 1, 1985. Unexposed subjects ( n = 2199) were matched to treated patients according to clinic, year of birth, and first consultation within 5 years. No overall significant increase in cancer mortality was found. A statistically significant difference was noted only for cumulative all-site cancer incidence, with the exposed having twice as many verified cancers as the nonexposed. This excess risk was caused mainly by head and neck tumors and other tumors flung, digestive tract, and urogenital system). The relative risk for these specific sites, however, was not significantly different from 1.00. These findings corroborate the hypothesis that there is some risk of tumor induction involved with nasopharyngeal radium irradiation at the dose level applied to this population. Because of ongoing interest in this subject, I plan to extend the follow-up of the cohort through December 31, 1995, and I am studying the possibility of expanding the study population.
