Nickel is a kind of rare metal which is widely distributed in the earth's crust, and is mainly used in manufacturing alloy. Nickel is a trace element essential to animals and plants growth and development, but high concentration of nickel will hamper the growth of plants and animals, and even produce toxic effects. This paper summarizes the physical and chemical properties of nickel, the sources of organisms exposed to nickel and the influence of different concentrations of nickel on animal and plant, and summarizes the relevant research progress.

Continuous cropping obstacle is a big problem of Strawberry planting. Continuous cropping obstacle leads to the accumulation of phenolic acids, imbalance of soil microorganism, deterioration of physical and chemical properties, resulting in sharp decline in Strawberry yield and quality. At present, the prevention and cure of continuous cropping obstacle of Strawberry is an urgent problem to be solved. The pathogen does not produce drug resistance, is safe to fresh fruit and does not pollute the environment.

Heavy metal pollution is a serious threat to human health. Because of the development of nanotechnology, removal of heavy metal is more convenient and effective. nanozero valent iron (Fe0) particles have high activity and specific surface area. At present, Fe0 nanoparticles have been used in the processing of refractory organics, heavy metals, inorganic salts, soil restoration, and other areas of the environment. But the dispersion and stability of the Fe0 nanoparticles are poor. We can improve physical and chemical properties of Fe0 by adding carrier materials to make iron nanoparticles have better stability, dispersion and the treatment effect. This paper mainly introduced the situation of removing heavy metals by the Fe0 nanoparticles and hybridized Fe0 particles. Hybridized Fe0 has good performance and high removal efficiency to heavy metals. We also discussed what are inadequate and need to be further researched.

Disposal of poultry sludge is one of the great challenges facing cities because of very strict requirements for landfilling and the scarcity of space for landfills. The present study was therefore aimed at evaluating the physical and chemical properties of poultry sludge and its suitability for reuse in agricultural and non-agricultural applications. Three samples were collected from sludge at the wastewater treatment plant of Al-Thuraya slaughterhouse in Al-Mafraq District, Jordan. The physical and biochemical properties of these samples were analyzed. Also, elemental composition and heat value were determined. The results indicated that poultry sludge had a slightly alkaline pH and a total moisture content of 20%, as well as an average total solid of 80%. The dry solid sludge had a volatile solid content of 94.9% and 5.1% of ash. Also, dry sludge had a high protein content (62 %) followed by carbohydrate (20%) and fiber (17%), with fat being around 1%. The major elements in the sludge were carbon (65.5%) followed by nitrogen (16%), phosphorous (5 %) and sulfur (2%). Heavy metal concentrations in dry sludge ranged from 0.01 to 2 mg/kg. These heavy metal concentrations were well below the safe limits recommended by legislators for sludge used as a fertilizer. The findings from this study revealed that dry poultry sludge offers a wide range of potential uses as fertilizer, animal feed and a source of energy, and it should be considered as a potentially valuable and sustainable resource rather than a waste product.

In connection with the spectrophotometric study of population-type characteristics of various kinds of stars, a statistical analysis of kinematical and distribution parameters of the same stars is performed at the Toruń Observatory. This has a twofold purpose: first, to provide a practical guide in selecting stars for observing programmes, second, to contribute to the understanding of relations existing between the physical and chemical properties of stars and their kinematics and distribution in the Galaxy.

Organic farming is one of the management strategies that improve productivity of marginal uplands. The study aimed to: (1) evaluate effects of various organic-based fertilizers on the growth and yield of corn; (2) determine the appropriate combination for optimum yield; and (3) assess changes on the soil physical and chemical properties. Experiment was laid out in Randomized Complete Block Design, with 3 replications and 7 treatments, namely; T0=(0-0-0); T1=1t ha-1 Evans + 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T2=t ha-1 Wellgrow + 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T3=15t ha-1 chicken dung; T4=10t ha-1 chicken dung + 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1; T5=15t ha-1 Vermicast; and T6=10t ha-1 Vermicast + 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1. Application of organic-based fertilizers with or without inorganic fertilizers promoted growth of corn than the control. But due to high infestation of corn silk beetle(Monolepta bifasciata Horns), its grain yield was greatly affected. In the second cropping, except for Evans, any of these fertilizers applied alone or combined with 45-30-30kg N, P2O5, K2O ha-1 appeared appropriate in increasing corn earyield. Soil physical and chemical properties changed with addition of organic fertilizers. While bulk density decreased irrespective of treatments, pH, total N, available P and exchangeable K generally increased more with chicken dung application.
