This article outlines the state of the art of mobile blended learning apps. It describes recent progress in this area, and explains the potential of mobile blended learning for schools and educational institutions. Furthermore, it presents an innovative solution, eSquirrel, which is developed by an Austrian inter-disciplinary start-up. eSquirrel is a blended learning platform that combines mobile learning with gamification. It blends the concepts of classroom teaching, eLearning and learning from books into a native Android and iOS course app, and enables teachers to learn their students’ progress.

The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic is an unprecedented blow to the Ghanaian Educational System. Following the closure of all educational facilities in Ghana in March 2020, the country’s President ordered for the adoption of distance learning. This poses the question: how prepared are Ghanaian institutions to carry out distance learning using online teaching approaches? Most institutions in Ghana offering distance learning programs currently adopt the usage of the tutorial method where there is minimal or no usage of online learning technologies. This article discusses the potential usage of mobile learning by Ghanaian Educational Institutions operating distance learning programs in the wake of combating the COVID-19. It proposes a model to support the use of WhatsApp Messenger as an online tool to support distance learning programs. The proposed model is a summary comparison between a typical Learning Management System (LMS) using Jurado’s classification and the proper application of the use of WhatsApp Messenger as a mobile learning platform in a Ghanaian context.

3D human pose estimation describes estimating 3D articulation structure of a person from an image or a video. The technology has massive potential because it can enable tracking people and analyzing motion in real time. Recently, much research has been conducted to optimize human pose estimation, but few works have focused on reviewing 3D human pose estimation. In this paper, we offer a comprehensive survey of the state-of-the-art methods for 3D human pose estimation, referred to as pose estimation solutions, implementations on images or videos that contain different numbers of people and advanced 3D human pose estimation techniques. Furthermore, different kinds of algorithms are further subdivided into sub-categories and compared in light of different methodologies. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first such comprehensive survey of the recent progress of 3D human pose estimation and will hopefully facilitate the completion, refinement and applications of 3D human pose estimation.

New mobile platforms, connected seamlessly to the Internet via wireless access have become increasingly more powerful and have found usage in a diverse set of application areas. On such area that has seen exponential growth in the use of mobile devices is the educational sector. Learning facilitated by mobile phones mobile Learning (m-Learning) is increasingly being adopted as an alternative way of imparting education by several institutions. The educational institutions are becoming more open to embracing new learning platforms, which in turn has sparked the interest in developing new assessment frameworks. The increasing popularity of m-Learning in universities necessitates the development of a process maturity evaluation methodology that would help in successful adoption of the new learning platform within universities. Accordingly, this paper presents a maturity model for evaluating the maturity of universities while adopting the m-Learning platform. This is a preliminary framework based on the current understanding of the issue. Later versions are expected to be more detailed and robust with the availability of empirical data from users. Additionally, there is also is a lack of comprehensive assessment and evaluation methodology for m-Learning platform, which is considered to be one of the major roadblocks in implementing the technology. The present paper addresses an important question: Can m-Learning maturity be measured? One viable solution for the question is adapting the Capability Maturity Model (CMM) framework to design and propose a capability maturity model suitable for m-Learning within educational institutions.

The field of nanoscience has evolved into a wide variety of successes over the past two decades and the emphasis on nanotechnology is to revolve around various dynamic fields, such as sensor, biomedical, and many useful applications. Advances in related fields are certainly due to the ability to synthesize nanoparticles from a variety of materials, structures, and to convert samples into complex nanoarchitectures. The promises of nanomedicine are broad. Graphene (Gr), the first 2-dimensional material to stand alone, is a type of new nanomaterial that leads to the excitement of natural biological applications. Number of researches has been conducted on applicability of GBNs in the area of environment, biomedical, and healthcare sectors. As compared to other nanomaterials, extraordinary properties of graphene-based nanomaterials (GBNs) like high surface area, multilayers, multifunctional and excellent biocompatibility make them capable to play great roll of highly-tailored multifunctional delivery vehicles for drugs delivery, gene delivery, phototherapy and bioimaging. However, research communities performed plenty of research works on GBNs synthesis and biological acitivity evaluation, but  there is limited comprehensive reviews published so far biological applications. So, we have studied a large number of scientific reports and investigations, presented in this review describing recent progress and modern perspectives with respect to graphene and related nanomaterials for biological applications.

Under the development of the information age, traditional Chinese teaching model of college English reading courses can no longer meet the needs of the times, and needs to be reformed urgently. From the perspective of mobile learning, this paper tries to combine modern educational technology with classroom teaching by using an online English reading learning platform, and explores the construction of a new teaching model. This model tries to form effective teaching supervision and assessment through the combination of online and offline teaching model, in-class and after-class teaching model, as well as real-time and dynamic big data monitoring, which breaks the closed classroom teaching environment, enriches the teaching content and means, complements and improves the teaching method of traditional Chinese college English reading courses. The aim of this study is to enrich teaching content, reform traditional teaching model and construct a new teaching model for English reading courses through the teaching practice of the online English reading platform, and further optimize the use of the platform by collecting and analyzing effective assessment and feedback, so as to make full use of the online reading platform and improve the mobile reading teaching model.
