One of the most controversial issues in Turkey about the occurrence of the exotic fish species belonging to the family Cichlidae. Up to date, starting the 1970’s a total of seven species including Coptodon rendalli, C. zillii, Oreochromis aureus, O. mossambicus, O. niloticus, Sarotherodon galilaeus and Tristramella simonis introduced to Turkey for aquaculture purposes or accidently. Then these species have deliberately released or escaped from research and aquaculture facilities establishing themselves into natural environment of Turkey. In other cases, tilapia have been introduced into new aquatic habitats via aquarists or ornamental fish farmers. There was not any reliable record about establishment of O. mossambicus, S. galilaeus and T. simonis in Turkey. It is observed that now C. rendalli, C. zillii, O. aureus, and O. niloticus and/or hybrids of them exist in the wild water system of Turkey. Another problematic issue is that species identification of specimens found in nature is impossible due to the fact that hybridization of different species of Cichlidae. By the way, the range of the species belonging to the family Cichlidae in Turkey is determined that a need for detailed genetic studies to assess the current status.

Adenosine receptors (ARs) belongs to the family of G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR) that are responsible for the modulation of a wide variety of physiological functions. The ARs are also implicated in many diseases such as cancer, arthritis, cardiovascular and renal diseases. The adenosine A3 receptor (A3AR) has emerged as a potential drug target for the progress of new and effective therapeutic agents for the treatment of various pathological conditions. This receptor’s involvement in many diseases and its validity as a target has been established by many studies. Both agonists and antagonists of A3AR have been extensively investigated in the last decade with the goal of developing novel drugs for treating diseases related to immune disorders, inflammation, cancer, and others. In this review, we shall focus on the medicinal chemistry of A3AR ligands, exploring the diverse chemical classes that have been projected as future leading drug candidates. Also, the recent advances in the therapeuetic applications of A3AR ligands are highlighted.

Regenerative flow compressors and pumps, hereafter called RFC/RFP have found many applications in industry; still they are the most neglected turbomachines in the family of dynamic compressors. The number of publications existing in literature is very small compared to the large number of papers about the centrifugal and axial turbocompressors. This paper gives a detail discussion of fundamentals and working principle of regenerative turbomachines. Regenerative compressors are compared with centrifugal compressors and the importance of regenerative turbomachines in low specific speed range is emphasized. The major findings of available literature on regenerative turbomachine are summarized. The current status, limitations and some of the challenges faced by RFC/RFP are assessed in context of performance improvement. The paper concludes with an overview of ongoing research and future directions to be followed for performance improvement of this neglected class of turbomachines.

In China, the family business usually implement paternalistic management model at the startup. When the enterprise scale enlarged, along with the change of the outside environment, the risk and uncertainty of the enterprise management will be increased and the distortions of family management model will become increasingly clear. Therefore, it is an irresistible trend to carry out reforms on the family business governance model. This paper analyzed the current status of Chinese family management model, pointed out the opportunity under the market economy for family business accelerating its development, and summarized the four models of Chinese family business governance. Currently, under the market economy, the biggest problem faced by Chinese family business is not how to transform into modern enterprise, but how to realize their sustainable development. To build a modern enterprise system is just an important destination for family business development, but can’t be the only choose at the present stage. A precisely suitable enterprise system is established according to the time, place, different industry, scale, development stage and background, while there is no standard model of universal application.

Globally, an increase in the transportation and expansion of the pet market is the most important cause of the invasion of non-native species. Invasion of non-native species disturbs native ecosystems and leads to socio-economic problems. The pet trade involving turtles has been globally recognized as the route through which non-native species enter ecosystems. As a result, the invasion of non-native turtles worldwide is causing problems such as competition, predation, transmission of parasites, and hybridization with native turtles. Every year, both the number of non-native turtles imported as pets in the Republic of Korea and the number of introduced species found in the wild is increasing. However, the current status of non-native turtles in the wild is not well known, posing major challenges to their management. In this study, we aimed to determine the current status of non-native turtles introduced into the wild in Korea. We analyzed the factors associated with the detection and distribution of non-native turtles. In total, 1587 of non-native turtles (three families, six genera, and 13 species including subspecies) were found in 648 sites in Korea: Chelydra serpentina, Mauremys sinensis, Chrysemys picta bellii, Graptemys ouachitensis, G. pseudogeographica pseudogeographica, G. p. kohni, Pseudemys concinna, P. nelsoni, P. peninsularis, P. rubriventris, Trachemys scripta elegans, T. s. scripta, and T. s. troostii. There was relationship between the distribution of non-native turtles and environmental factors such as precipitation and temperature. Moreover, human factors such as number of human populations and size of region were significantly related with the distribution and number of non-native turtles. In conclusion, it is likely that human factors are associated with the influx of invasive turtles to the natural habitat, while the possibility of survival and adaption for the turtles is associated mainly with environmental factors. Our result will be an essential guideline not only for understanding the current status of non-native turtles in Korea, but also for establishing strategies for management and control.

The status of resistance to organophosphate, carbamate, cyclodiene and pyrethroid insecticides in the heliothine Lepidoptera is reviewed. In particular, resistance in the tobacco budworm, Heliothis virescens , and the corn earworm, Helicoverpa zea , from the New World, and the cotton bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera , from the Old World, are considered in detail. Particular emphasis has been placed on resistance to the most widely used of these insecticide groups, the pyrethroids. In each case, the incidence and current status of resistance are considered before a detailed view of the mechanisms of resistance is given. Controversial issues regarding the nature of mechanisms of resistance to pyrethroid insecticides are discussed. The implications for resistance management are considered.

A 60-cm female fetus recovered from a Dall's porpoise (Phocoenoides dalli) found dead in southern British Columbia was fathered by a harbour porpoise (Phocoena phocoena). This is the first report of a hybrid within the family Phocoenidae and one of the first well-documented cases of cetacean hybridization in the wild. In several morphological features, the hybrid was either intermediate between the parental species (e.g., vertebral count) or more similar to the harbour porpoise than to the Dall's porpoise (e.g., colour pattern, relative position of the flipper, dorsal fin height). The fetal colour pattern (with a clear mouth-to-flipper stripe, as is found in the harbour porpoise) is similar to that reported for a fetus recovered from a Dall's porpoise to off California. Hybrid status was confirmed through genetic analysis, with species-specific repetitive DNA sequences of both the harbour and Dall's porpoise being found in the fetus. Atypically pigmented porpoises (usually traveling with and behaving like Dall's porpoises) are regularly observed in the area around southern Vancouver Island. We suggest that these abnormally pigmented animals, as well as the previously noted fetus from California, may also represent hybridization events.

Cynanchum kashgaricum Liou f., belonging to the family Apocynaceae, is an endemic herbaceous perennial and extremely endangered plant species, only found in the wild in desert regions of Xinjiang, China (3), and is valuable for sand stabilization. In August 2010, a previously unknown and widespread powdery mildew disease was observed on C. kashgaricum growing in the Taklimakan Desert in Xinjiang, China. Disease symptoms included the appearance of a white mycelial coating on the upper surfaces of leaves, while the corresponding abaxial surfaces of infected leaves became chlorotic. As the disease progressed, the infected leaves turned yellow and necrotic. In this survey, the incidence of affected C. kashgaricum plants was 60%. On the basis of microscopic examination, the morphology of the fungus can be described as follows: the primary conidia of the fungus were lanceolate or clavate, with a pointed apex and rounded base, measuring 40.4 to 82.5 × 11.1 to 24.6 μm, with an irregular surface covered by warts; the secondary conidia varied in shape from subcylindrical to cylindrical, with rounded ends, and had lateral borders that were parallel to each other with rounded or truncate bases, measuring 40.5 to 73.5 × 11.2 to 23.9 μm. The ascomata were nearly gregarious and globe-shaped, of dust-colored appearance, and 113 to 267 μm in diameter; they were immersed in dense mycelial tomentum with numerous asci (usually 10 to 18 per ascoma). Numerous, well-developed appendages were present on the lower half of the ascomata; these appendages were irregularly branched and their length was 0.15 to 0.3 times the diameter of the ascomata. The asci were stalked, long or wide ellipsoidal in shape, and 93 to 140 × 27.6 to 52.9 μm. The asci usually contained two ellipsoidal ascospores 24.5 to 49.5 × 18.3 to 29.5 μm. On the basis of morphologic characteristics, the fungus was identified as Leveillula taurica (2). A voucher specimen of the fungus under the identifier HMTU09021 was deposited in the Mycological Herbarium of Tarim University (HMTU). To verify the identity of the fungus, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) rDNA was amplified and sequenced, and the sequences were deposited as GenBank Accession No. JN861731. Comparison with sequences in the GenBank database revealed that the ITS sequence showed 100% homology with the sequence of L. taurica on Capsicum annuum (Accession No. GQ167201) and Lepidium latifolium (Accession No. AB044349). Thus, the pathogen was identified as L. taurica on the basis of the anamorphic and teleomorphic morphological characters and the ITS sequence. To our knowledge, while L. taurica infection in plants of the family Apocynaceae has been reported around the world (1), in east Asia only a single report of C. glaucum infection in this genus has occurred, in Afghanistan (1). This is the first report of L. taurica infection of C. kashgaricum. Outbreaks of this powdery mildew could not only threaten growth of the endangered plant but also accelerate local ecological deterioration. References: (1) K. Amano. Abstract The myeloproliferative disorders have been the “poor cousins” in the family of hematological malignancies for some time. Recently this field has advanced considerably with the description of a mutation in the JAK2 kinase detectable in the majority of patients and the publication of two landmark clinical trials—ECLAP and MRC PT1. But although both ECLAP and MRC PT1 inform clinical management and allude to the complexities of thrombosis we still lack fundamental knowledge, and our understanding of thrombosis in these conditions has not paralleled advances in the field of thrombosis and vascular biology. The predominant clinical complications of essential thrombocythemia and polycythemia vera are thrombotic and hemorrhagic; these significantly impact upon prognosis and quality of life. Here the current status of our knowledge is reviewed with specific emphasis upon the role of the platelet in the pathogenesis of thrombosis as well as the impact of recent data from ECLAP and MRC PT1.
