NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose –the fiery Indian revolutionary has been in the news during 2015 and 2016 in connection with the declassification of files about his mysterious disappearance after 18th of August 1945. Of late, maximum research and writings on the leader have been about the mystery and associated theories connected with his disappearance, with the Indian Prime Minister himself taking a keen interest. It is largely History and to some extent Political Science, which as academic disciplines, has incorporated Subhas Chandra Bose as “Topic of Study/Research”. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had an in-depth knowledge of not only the Indian Society but also Japanese and European Society. He was a very keen observer of Indian Society and with his keen observation and constant interaction with a wide section of the general public during his constant travels, both within India and abroad, he was aware of various social problems particular to India and its magnitude. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was also fully aware of the British Colonial interests (the cunning-oppressive Agenda) who did not want the total eradication of social problems,especially that of caste and communal rivalry. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose had practical experience in Indian Industrial Relations as an Outside Trade Union Leader of various major trade unions and President of the first Indian Trade Union Federation-The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC). As the President of India’s most powerful political party, the Indian National Congress (INC), for two consecutive terms, Netaji’s contacts with Indian leaders belonging to different groups/associations including trade unionists, and general public those days was next only to Mahatma Gandhi. All these broadened his horizon and called for constant observation and study of Indian Society on a day to day basis. Netaji also donned the role of conciliator and arbitrator during industrial disputes. Thus his ideas and writings on these areas were a result of practical experience. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose also tried his level best to ameliorate the social status of Indians and was particularly concerned about the plight of Indian labour and farmers. This Article focuses on the role of NetajiSubhas Chandra Bose in Social Reforms and Industrial Relations and aims at highlighting the fact that Bose can be an interesting ‘Topic of Research’ even in Sociology, especially Sociology of Indian Social Reforms, Sociology of Indian Industrial Relations and Military Sociology.

Many analysts of Brazilian industrial relations share a determinist vision of the country’s trade unionism, according to which the unions maintain a paradoxical yet atavistic relationship with the heavy body of laws that provide them with advantages while limiting their freedom. We tested this vision by conducting field enquiries into the daily activities of two Brazilian unions: the ABC Metalworkers Union and the Seamstress Union for the Sao Paulo and Osasco Region. In this article, we present the results of our case studies and what they reveal about Brazilian trade unionism’s relationship with the labour legislation. We also briefly discuss former trade union leader and current President Lula’s recent attempts to reform the country’s labour relations system.

Objective There are three main objectives of this study. First, this study is to examine the influence of union effectiveness and perceived union support on union relationship capital to achieve positive mental health in the workplace. Next, this study is to investigate the interdependency of the dimensions of union relationship capital: communication, trust and commitment between the union leader and union members in improving and strengthening the relationship within the union. Lastly, this study is to investigate the role of relationship capital as the mediator between union effectiveness, perceived union support and mental health. Methodology/Technique A total of 600 questionnaires completed by trade union leaders and members in manufacturing sector based in Peninsular Malaysia were analysed using SEM (AMOS) and SPSS. The relationship between union effectiveness, perceived union support, union relationship capital and mental health were analysed using SEM. But the interaction between communication, trust and commitment were analysed using SPSS. Findings The results demonstrated that union effectiveness and perceived union support are determinants for union relationship capital. The finding showed that communication, trust and commitment are interdependent. Furthermore, the finding also shows a significant relationship between union relationship capital and mental health. Novelty : It is said that good communication, trust and commitment within the trade union can increase cohesiveness and strengthen the trade union. Several academic disciplines have begun to understand the benefits of open access to scholarship, both for scholars and for the general public. Scientific disciplines have led the way, partially due to the nature of scholarship in those areas and partially because they have felt the crisis in serials pricing more acutely than others. Theological studies, however, have largely been insulated from the push for open access; considering the reasons for that is the first task of this article. It is also the case, however, that the missionary impulse that stands behind much theological scholarship is a strong incentive to embrace the opportunities afforded by digital, online dissemination of research and writing. After discussing this imperative for global distribution, the bulk of the article focuses on how theological institutions, and especially their libraries, can encourage and support scholars in making their work freely accessible. Copyright issues, including the elements of a successful copyright management program, are discussed, as are some of the technological elements necessary for an efficient and discoverable open access repository. Options for licensing, both at ingestion of content and at dissemination to users are also considered. Finally, it is argued that the role of consortia and professional organizations in supporting these initiatives is especially important because of the relatively small size of so many theological institutions.

In this chapter the authors analyze the role of trade unions for firm formation from the perspective of the individual entrepreneur. The industrial relations and entrepreneurship literature reviewed shows that trade unions matter in firm formation decisions in three ways: with regard to the occupational choice problem, the management of potential employees and the resource availability for the startup. Taking the Spanish economy as an example the findings from an empirical study demonstrate the perceived actual and potential role of unions for firm formation. The findings are compared with trade union activity in Germany and the United States in order to draw recommendations for trade union strategists.

Creation of an industrial culture is always a slow and difficult process, especially for high-tech industries in backward areas. In such circumstances, what is the role of the state government and the management in creating this culture? What parameters should be used to evaluate demands for wage rise? These are some of the questions that the diagnostic case, The Bajaj Lockout, raises. The casewriter and other experts from the academic and the practising worlds provide us their diagnoses of the case. To promote and foster healthy industrial relations, Kher emphasizes the need to educate the workers in fair negotiation practices while Shelat elaborates on the role of the state government in ensuring an ideal industrial climate. Joseph highlights the role of systematic grievance handling procedures whereas Sarkar observes that faulty recruitment policy combined with the promotion of an internal trade union are sure indicators of deficient personnel management. Removing barriers to communication: between workers and the manageme~t and introducing participative rrianagament will contribute to better industrial relations concludes Saha.

Key offices in most trade unions in India are held by "outsiders" who do not belong to the trade or industry from which the members are drawn. The outsiders have marked political loyalties, with the result that almost every trade union in the country owes explicit allegiance to a political party. The partisan leanings of the outsiders have often been taken to mean that their primary role as union leaders is to seize on every available opportunity for making political gain. This paper, based on an intensive study of a textile workers' union in South India, contends that the outsiders, notwithstanding their partisan leanings, may be vitally involved in furthering their members' job-related interests. The purely trade union activities of the outsiders are divided into three broad categories. The nature of the grievance, the power wielded by the outsiders in its settlement, the pressures they can bring on the management, and the role they play differ significantly among these three categories. But in none of these is any attempt made by the outsiders to bring in their political interests. Imparting an ideological color to industrial disputes is neither necessary nor useful. While the outsiders do use their union base to further their political interests, they keep trade unionism and politics as discrete spheres of activity.

Problem and goal. In modern conditions, specialists in various subject areas who have an information culture and are able to solve complex professional problems using modern information and communication technologies are in demand. Currently, specialists in the field of applied mathematics are required, which plays an important role in the development of human civilization. Therefore, in the process of teaching various academic disciplines of applied mathematics at the university, including the discipline Equations of mathematical physics, attention should be paid to the development of students information culture. Methodology. When teaching students the discipline Equations of mathematical physics, it is extremely important that the teacher knows not only the content of teaching this discipline of applied mathematics, but also has practical experience in solving equations of mathematical physics by computer means. Such qualities of the teacher will allow him to successfully conduct training sessions in the conditions of informatization of teaching mentioned discipline. At the same time, it ought to be clearly understood that the use of computer technologies in teaching the discipline Equations of mathematical physics must be correct. The necessity to develop and implement in practice a variety of methodological approaches that allow students to develop an information culture in training sessions on that discipline is obvious. Results. The use of advanced pedagogical technologies in training sessions on the discipline Equations of mathematical physics, where computer technologies are used, will allow students to develop an information culture. Conclusion. Computer technologies that students use in the process of solving educational problems require them to have certain skills and abilities to identify their broad capabilities. Students are aware of the role of computer technologies in conducting applied scientific research, understand the role of computer modeling methodology and computational experiment in studying the world around them.
