Bioassay Method in the Estimation of Overall Performance of Plazmachemical Water Treatment Devices

This article describes the estimation of wastewater treatment plasmachemical devices using toxicologic testing of model aqueous solutions of organic compounds. It is shown that the bioassay can be used not only as an effective method for assessing the toxicity of water, but also as a criterion for determination of the effectiveness of various methods of water treatment.

The biological wastewater treatment technologies in anoxic and aerobic bioreactors with recycle of sludge mixture are used for the effective removal of organic compounds from wastewater. The change rate of sludge mixture recirculation between bioreactors leads to a change and redistribution of concentrations of organic compounds in sludge mixture in bioreactors and change hydrodynamic regimes in bioreactors. Determination of the coefficient of internal recirculation of sludge mixture between bioreactors is important for the choice of technological parameters of biological treatment (wastewater treatment duration in anoxic and aerobic bioreactors, flow capacity of recirculation pumps). Determination of the coefficient of internal recirculation of sludge mixture requires integrated consideration of hydrodynamic parameter (flow rate), kinetic parameter (rate of oxidation of organic compounds) and physical-chemical parameter of wastewater (concentration of organic compounds). The conducted numerical experiment from the proposed mathematical equations allowed to obtain analytical dependences of the coefficient of internal recirculation sludge mixture between bioreactors on the concentration of organic compounds in wastewater, the duration of wastewater treatment in bioreactors.

The year 2014 was a turning point in the transition of the main sectors of the Russian economy to a new track of environmental regulation and the introduction of obligations for first category’ s objects of negative environmental impact to receive a unified complex document containing mandatory requirements in the field of environmental protection. The main element in the application for a comprehensive environmental permit is the results of calculations of technological standards based on technological indicators of the best available techniques.The determination of technological indicators of the best available techniques takes place in the process of developing and updating information and technical reference documents (BREFs) on the best available techniques. There is currently no unified methodology for determining the technological indicators of the best available techniques. In the process of determining them in Russia, an expert assessment, a reference to the opinion of the industry professional community, or a compromise between control and supervisory authorities, departmental executive authorities and enterprises prevails. Methods. The authors have obtained a set of data through questionnaires from wastewater treatment plants of various output and water treatment techniques used. We have a developed a unified questionnaire that enables to get general information on the plants under study, as well as detailed information on pollutants’ discharge and the use wastewater treatment techniques. Results. In this article, the technological indicators of the best available technologies in the field of wastewater treatment using centralized wastewater disposal systems of settlements or urban districts were determined based on the proposed European approaches. The results obtained showed that the resulting total range generally corresponds to the values of technological indicators of the best available techniques established by the Government of the Russian Federation for water treatment enterprises. Thus, it is possible to judge the applicability (taking into account the expert assessment) of this approach for determining the technological indicators of the best available techniques in other information and technical reference documents (BREFs).

At the stage of water treatment for irrigation systems, the efficiency capture coarse and fine mechanical impurities, as well as oil products and organic compounds affects the reliability of the equipment of the irrigation network and the safety of energy exchange processes in irrigated agricultural landscapes. The violation of work irrigation system can cause disruptions in irrigation schedules of agricultural crops, crop shortages, degradation phenomena on the soil and ecological tension. For the combined irrigation system, a water treatment unit has been developed, representing a hydrocyclone apparatus with a pipe filter in the case. For the capacity of 250 m3/h the main geometrical dimensions of hydrocyclone have been calculated. To organize the capture petroleum products and organic compounds, it has been proposed a modernization of a hydrocyclone unit, consisting in dividing the cylindrical part of the apparatus into two section. The first is section is for input irrigation water, the second one is for additional drainage of clarified irrigation water after sorption purification by the filter, placed on the disk and installed coaxially with the drain pipe and the pipe filter.

The photoluminescence of carbon quantum dots synthesized from natural honey and mixtures of honey and sugar has been studied. An increase in the sugar content leads to a decrease in the photoluminescence intensity without changing the shape of the luminescence spectrum of these quantum dots aqueous solutions, which is associated with a decrease in the yield of their synthesis in the sugar presence. The discovered effect can be used to detect sugar in honey. When examining five different market samples of flower honey using this method, two of them showed a significant decrease in the photoluminescence intensity. A laboratory test for compliance with GOST 19792-2017 Standard requirements established an excess of the sucrose content in these samples. Luminescent determination of sugar in honey does not require complicated equipment and can be used to develop a new analytical method for determining the sugar content in counterfeit natural honey.
