This article analyses the initial training in Mathematical Education of the Degree in Primary Education in the public universities in Spain. The aim is to study the type of mathematical knowledge defined in syllabus. For this purpose, it has been carried out a comparative study about preservice teachers' curriculum. Two comparison parameters included in the TEDS-M International report have been into account: knowledge of mathematical content and knowledge of pedagogical content. The results obtained show a high variability in the distribution of the number and nature of ECTS offered and a prevalence of the knowledge of the mathematical content in relation to the pedagogical content.

Formative assessment of student learning is a challenging task in the teaching profession. Both teachers’ professional vision and their pedagogical content knowledge of specific subjects such as mathematics play an important role in assessment processes. This study investigated mathematics preservice teachers’ diagnostic activities during a formative assessment task in a video-based simulation. It examined which mathematical content was important for the successful assessment of the simulated students’ mathematical argumentation skills. Beyond that, the preservice teachers’ use of different diagnostic activities was assessed and used as an indicator of their knowledge-based reasoning during the assessment situation. The results showed that during the assessment, the mathematical content focused on varied according to the level of the simulated students’ mathematical argumentation skills. In addition, explaining what had been noticed was found to be the most difficult activity for the participants. The results suggest that the examined diagnostic activities are helpful in detecting potential challenges in the assessment process of preservice teachers that need to be further addressed in teacher education. In addition, the findings illustrate that a video-based simulation may have the potential to train specific diagnostic activities by means of additional instructional support.

This paper studied the belief system of future Chilean teachers of Early Childhood Education and Primary Education regarding their competencies to incorporate Education for Sustainable Development (EDS) in the classroom, specifically, in math classes. To this end, a survey was applied to 87 Primary Education preservice teachers and 58 Early Childhood Education preservice teachers, which was analyzed from an interpretative approach. Results are not clear regarding ESD and its scope, despite being valued. In addition, there is a clear need for training in this regard and the potential of mathematical education as a tool to incorporate ESD into the school classroom. It is concluded that ESD-related competencies need to be incorporated in initial and permanent teacher training programs in a transversal way, in our case for Mathematics Education.

In the studies presented here, we were interested to know what mathematical knowledge the primary course provided to these future effective teachers during the First Republic. Based on cultural history, we seek answers in the pertinent official documents, especially in the Teaching Programs. The study shows for the effective teachers of the First Republic a general formation, with the necessary knowledge to teach, lacking in great measure, the knowledge to teach mathematics. The changes that occurred in the Programs sought to support the purpose of primary education, without providing the training to teach, since this is not its purpose.Keyword: History of Education. Mathematical horizon in teachers’ knowledge for teaching: geometry and measurement; elementary educationPromoting the elaboration of students’ mathematical knowledge and understanding requires teachers’ having a knowledge allowing connecting students’ prior and future knowledge building bridges between those two spaces. In this paper we focus on aspects of the mathematical horizon as one of teachers’ knowledge dimensions, presenting an interpretation of such knowledge, with a practice-based approach, grounded in the analysis of three levels of teachers’ practices. Using examples from tasks in geometry and measurement in elementary school practices, some indicators are presented and discussed with the aim of describing and analyzing how a teachers’ horizon knowledge allows enriching teaching practices.Handle: http://hdl.handle.net/10481/37188WOS-ESCI

This study proposed a new conceptualization of technological pedagogical content knowledge (TPACK) that focuses exclusively on the intersection of technology, pedagogy, and content specifically for selected dimensions of 21st century learning. In addition, teachers’ design beliefs were investigated with the teachers’ TPACK. Given the conceptualization, a new instrument was designed and validated. An associated intervention program to enhance the preservice teachers' TPACK was designed and the pre- and post-course surveys were conducted. To unpack the relationships between teachers’ design beliefs and their TPACK, structural equation models were constructed and validated. The findings indicate that the instrument possesses good construct, discriminant and convergence validity, and reliabilities. The intervention enhanced the teachers’ TPACK efficacies and their design beliefs significantly, and the structural equation models indicate that the teachers’ design beliefs are significant predictors of the teachers’ TPACK. The implications of this study suggest that TPACK may be conceived differently and this may promote new intervention programs to foster preservice teachers’ TPACK and design beliefs.

This research aims to determine the ability of the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) preservice teachers Civic education Pamulang University. The method used in this research is a quantitative method with a survey approach. The research subject amounted to 63 students. The results showed that the ability of TPACK has a very important role in improving the ability of preservice teachers in the revolution of the 4.0 industry, besides the analysis results demonstrated the ability of TPACK Preservice teachers Civic education on group A superior to the group B. Therefore, TPACK's capabilities need to be upgraded and supported by various parties to create an education that can produce future qualified teachers.
