Single crystals of Sulphamic Acid doped with Zinc Sulphate and Manganese Sulphate were grown at room temperature using slow evaporation technique. Structural analysis of the grown crystals was done using single crystal X Ray Diffraction and powder X Ray Diffraction studies. Various functional groups seen in the grown crystals are determined using FTIR spectroscopic analysis. The cut-off wavelength of ZnSO4 and MnSO4 doped Sulphamic acid were evaluated by UV-Vis-NIR spectral studies. Thermal behaviour of the grown crystals was identified from Thermogravimetric Analysis (TGA) and Differential Thermogravimetric Analysis (DTA). The mechanical strength and Second harmonic generation of the grown crystals was identified by Vicker’s Microhardness Test and Kurtz powder technique respectively.

AbstractNovel nonlinear optical semi-organic, potassium phthalate di lithium borate (KPDLiB) single crystals were successfully grown by the slow solvent evaporation technique. Good crystalline nature and an orthorhombic structure were confirmed by powder X-ray diffraction and single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The functional groups of KPDLiB were identified using FT-IR spectrum recorded in the range of 4000 cm−1 to 450 cm−1. UV-Vis spectrum showed transmitting ability of the crystals in the entire visible region. The photoluminescence spectrum exhibited good fluorescence emission in a visible region at 384 nm, 416 nm and 578 nm. The second harmonic generation efficiency of the grown crystal was evaluated from Kurtz powder technique.

Single crystals of sulphamic acid of 11 × 7 × 3 mm3dimension were successfully grown by slow evaporation technique. The crystal structure of grown crystals was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The presence of functional groups in the crystal lattice has been qualitatively determined by FT-IR and FT-Raman analyses. Theoretical group factor analysis predicts the possible modes of vibrations. The optical transmission spectroscopy (UV-Vis) clearly evidences the suitability of this material for optical application. The thermal behaviour of the crystal was studied by thermogravimetric (TG) and differential scanning calorimetric (DSC) studies. The nonlinear optical (NLO) characteristic of this material was explored by the second harmonic generation (SHG) conversion efficiency.

Optically transparent single crystals of potassium acid phthalate (KAP, 0.5 g) 0.05 g and 0.1 g (1 and 2 mol %) trytophan were grown in aqueous solution by slow evaporation technique at room temperature. Single crystal X- ray diffraction analysis confirmed the changes in the lattice parameters of the doped crystals. The presence of functional groups in the crystal lattice has been determined qualitatively by FTIR analysis. Optical absorption studies revealed that the doped crystals possess very low absorption in the entire visible region. The dielectric constant has been studied as a function of frequency for the doped crystals. The thermal stability was evaluated by TG-DSC analysis.

Single crystals of pure and thiourea substituted L-alanine single crystals were grown successfully by the solution method with slow evaporation technique at room temperature. The effect of dopant on crystal properties has been studied. The solubility of the grown samples was found at various temperatures. Structural characterization of the grown crystals was determined by the single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD). EDAX studies indicate the presence of thiourea in the doped L-alanine crystals. The functional groups were identified by FTIR spectroscopy. The UV-Vis- NIR spectral studies were carried out to analyze the optical absorption of the grown crystals and found that the absorption is very low in the wavelength region 232-1000nm for both the samples. SEM studies explain the surface morphologies of the grown crystals. Improvement in the SHG efficiency was studied by the Kurtz and Perry method. Single crystals of para Nitroaniline ( pNA ), an organic nonlinear optical (NLO) material, have been grown by slow solvent evaporation technique at room temperature. Good optical quality single crystals with dimensions of up to 10 × 11 × 3 mm 3 have been grown by adopting the above technique, and good quality single crystals were obtained. The grown single crystals were subjected to different characterization analyses. The lattice dimensions have been determined from the powder X-ray diffraction analysis. Its functional groups and optical behavior have been identified from the FTIR and UV-Vis. analyses respectively. The thermal stability of the crystal has been analyzed by thermogravimetric (TG) and differential thermal (DT) analyses respectively.

Semiorganic nonlinear optical tris(thiourea) cadmium sulphate (TTCS) single crystals were grown by slow evaporation method. The crystal system, cell parameter of the grown crystal, was identified by powder X-ray diffraction study. The self-focusing Z-scan technique has been employed to observe the third-order nonlinear optical property of the grown crystal. The mechanical property of the grown crystal was examined by using Vicker’s microhardness test. Chemical etching studies were made on the TTCS crystal using water as an etchant. The dark current and photocurrent properties of the crystal were estimated by using photoconductivity study. The dielectric constant of grown crystal was studied in different temperature by varying applied frequencies.

Single crystals of L-tartaric acid (LTA), an organic nonlinear optical material, have been grown using a home-built crystal growth setup (the Moovendaran–Kalyanasundar–Natarajan setup). Crystals of LTA were also grown by the slow evaporation solution technique. These single crystals were characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction, high-resolution X-ray diffraction, and IR and UV–Vis–NIR spectroscopy. In addition, measurements of Vickers microhardness, laser damage threshold value and second harmonic generation efficiency are reported. Thermal, dielectric and photoluminescence studies were also carried out.

AbstractPotassium iodide (KI) doped potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP) single crystals were grown by slow evaporation technique using millipore water as a solvent. The grown single crystals were analyzed by powder X-ray diffraction and the analysis confirmed that KI-doped KHP crystallizes in orthorhombic system with space group Pca21. The functional groups were identified by FT-IR technique which showed slight shift in vibrational frequencies, indicating inclusion of dopant into the crystal lattice. The UV-Vis spectral studies revealed the optical transparency of the doped crystals in the entire visible region. The optical band gap values were estimated from Tauc plots. Kurtz-Perry powder test was employed for second harmonic generation efficiency studies of the grown crystals.

A UV transmittable NLO crystal Hydrofluoric acid mixed Sulphamic acid (FASA) was synthesized and explored in aqueous solution by slow solvent evaporation technique at ambient temperature. Centimeter sized 3 × 2.8 × 1 cm3 crystal was harvested in a period of 25-30 days. Single crystal X-ray diffraction data manifest FASA crystallizes in Tetragonal P crystal system with lattice parameters of a = 8.12 Å, b = 8.12 Å, c = 9.29 Å and α=β=γ =90̊. The peaks in powder X-ray diffractogram were indexed corresponding to the (hkl) plane orientations showing the crystalline purity and perfection. FTIR spectrum authenticate the functional groups exist in FASA crystal system. UV-vis-NIR spectrum validated a wide transparency range with short UV cut-off edge closer to 200 nm. FASA endowed with larger dielectric polarizability. Kurtz-Perry powder test flashed the Phase matchable SHG efficiency 0.43 times KDP. Soft nature of FASA suits itself for crystal feasibility. The presence of HF with sulphamic acid delivered a mixed crystal system FASA suitable for UV nonlinear optical applications.
