A review of literature suggests that very few studies have examined how selection, deletion and inclusion of comments in news articles affect audience perception of news credibility, newsworthiness and trustworthiness. Using an experimental methodology, this study seeks to understand how journalistic use of UGCs influences audience perception of news credibility, newsworthiness and trustworthiness. The study also sought to espouse on the two-step flow theory and its relevance to online media; with particular reference to news selection. Four hundred participants from selected Nigerian universities constitute the sample of this study and the findings showed that comments use influenced audience perception of news credibility, newsworthiness and trustworthiness. Also, the findings lent credence to developing research that seeks to prove that the two-step flow story is relevant to online media. The findings of this study showed evidence of the two-step flow of information.

ABSTRAK Pada perkembangannya media massa lebih mengarah pada media online. Dalam arus penyebaran informasi media online menjadi lebih luas dan cepat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan citra perusahaan pada PT.PLN (Persero) pada pemberitaan media online. Penelitian ini menganalisis isi konten pemberitaan terkait perusahaan pada isu subsidi listrik tepat sasaran 2016. Pendekatan penelitian menggunakan penelitian kuantitatif. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah analisis isi. Dari kategori dan indikator yang telah ditentukan, ditemukan bahwa banyak digunakan nada pernyataan buruk pada judul berita namun tidak sama halnya dengan isi konten berita yang cenderung mendapatkan penilaian positif. Hal itu dikarenakan narasumber yang dominan dan terdapat dalam konten pemberitaan merupakan pihak-pihak yang terlibat dalam proses pembuatan kebijakan subsidi listrik tepat sasaran. Hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa perusahaan PT.PLN (Persero) dalam penelitian ini mendapatkan citra yang positif dari pemberitaan di media online detik.com terkait Isu Subsidi Listrik Tepat Sasaran 2016. In the flow of information dissemination online media becomes wider and faster. This study aims to describe the company's image to PT. PLN (Persero) on online media coverage. This study analyzes the content of news related content about the company on the issue of electricity subsidies on target 2016. The research approach uses quantitative research. The method used in this study is content analysis. From the categories and indicators that have been determined, it was found that many used bad statement tones in the headline but not the same as the content of news content which tended to get a positive rating. This is because the dominant sources included in the news content are those involved in the process of making electricity subsidy policy on target. The results of this study can be concluded that the company PT PLN (Persero) in this study get a positive image from the news on detik.com online media related to the Issue of the Right Target Electricity Subsidy 2016. The aim of this research is to determine whether the stigma of a criminal record should be considered in understanding the precarious conditions of individuals with convictions in the Spanish labour market. Previous studies have been unable to separate this effect from other explanations such as low levels of education or the breakdown of networks resulting from the conviction. Following Pager (2007), this study adopts the experimental methodology of the audit tests, in which matched fictitious curricula vitae, differing only in the mention of a conviction, are sent to real job offers, to verify whether there is a difference in the number of responses to each CV. The results show that skilled former offenders are discriminated in the Spanish labour market as a result of the stigma of a criminal record.

This article presents the results of experimental study of the influence of tire vertical load and tire internal pressure on tire cornering stiffness. The results have been obtained with a mobile tire tester which was developed at department “CEAET” at TU-SOFIA. The information about the dates of size load, index speed, index group, wearing out is obtained from Goodyear website, www.goodyear.eu. The study process concerns three main areas: (i) the choice of the experimental methodology; (ii) calculation and analysis of the data; (iii) discussion and conclusion. The obtained results give the possibility to determinate the role of tire on vehicle handling and stability.

<p class="15bIsiAbstractBInggris"><em>Literacy is the ability to read, write and count to understand information. In its application, literacy can be done anywhere to understand more deeply the information available, the information currently available can be found anywhere such as electronic media, print media and online media. The importance of literacy in understanding various information in online media first so that the rapid flow of information in online media is also accompanied by literacy skills in online media, so that the audience can become a filter for the information they get and prevent unwanted things from the rapid flow of information and communication. This study discusses online media literacy skills among students, in order to see their literacy skills in online media. So that found 3 problem formulations including regarding, how students' knowledge about online media literacy, how students do online media literacy, how online media literacy helps the student communication process. This study uses a qualitative approach, the research method is to analyze student literacy in using online media. Researchers take samples at each student level. After researching, it was found that the results in the sample showed that students of the Islamic Faculty of Religion have online media literacy skills and online media literacy helps in the student communication process through technical skills and communicative abilities.</em></p><p class="16aJudulAbstrak"><strong>Abstrak</strong></p><p class="16bIsiAbstrak">Literisi merupakan kemampuan membaca, menulis dan berhitung yang dilakukan untuk memahami informasi. Dalam penerapannya literasi dapat dilakukan dimanapun untuk memahami lebih dalam informasi yang tersedia, informasi yang tersedia pada sekarang ini bisa didapatkan dimanapun seperti media elektronik, media cetak dan media online. Pentingnya literasi untuk memahami berbagai informasi terlebih dahulu di media online agar dengan derasnya arus informasi di media online bersamaan pula dengan kemampuan literasi pada media online, ini bertujuan agar khalayak dapat menjadi penyaring untuk informasi yang didapatnya dan mencegah hal yang tidak diingikan dari derasnya arus informasi dan komunikasi. Penilitian ini membahas tentang kemampuan literasi media online pada kalangan mahasiswa, guna melihat kemampuan literasinya pada media online. Sehingga ditemukan 3 rumusan masalah diantaranya mengenai, bagaimana pengetahuan mahasiswa mengenai literasi media online, cara mahasiswa dalam melakukan literasi media online, bagaimana literasi media online membantu proses komunikasi mahasiswa. Penlitian ini menggunakan metode pendekatan kualitatif, metode penelitian tersebut guna menganalisis literasi mahasiswa dalam menggunakan media online. Peniliti mengambil sampel pada setiap tingkat mahasiswa. Setelah diteliti, maka ditemukan hasil pada sampel tersebut bahwa mahasiswa Fakultas Agama Islam memiliki kemampuan literasi media online dan literasi media online membantu dalam proses komunikasi mahasiswa melalui technical skill dan communicative abilies</p>

<p>Online media has penetrated in all areas including the library so the impact on the rapid flow of information. Library into the gates of knowledge so librarian most responsible for the release of information entered into the goal. Information posts from library can be made through any type of social media application. Sosial media was created to enable people to communicate and connect with others. Social media has changes the way librarian in doing their jobs related to communicate with the users, how to communicate both individually and at the library level. Social media have forever changed the way interact, share, and ultimately conduct our relationships. Various information appeared like seawater unstoppable spread so users required to be wise in choosing and using them. A wave of false news more so by the presence of social media. Social media become a challenge for librarians to improve their competence with media literacy of new technology. Librarian library through a very important role as a gateway healthy information.</p><p>Media online sudah merambah di semua bidang termasuk perpustakaan sehingga berdampak pada pesatnya arus informasi. Perpustakaan menjadi gerbang pengetahuan sehingga pustakawanlah yang paling bertanggung jawab menjadi gawang masuk keluarnya informasi. Informasi dari perpustakaan dapat dilakukan melalui semua jenis aplikasi media sosial. Media sosial memungkinkan kita berkomunikasi dan terhubung dengan yang lain. Media sosial<strong> </strong>dapat mengubah pekerjaan pustakawan yang berhubungan dengan komunikasi dengan pemustaka, baik perseorangan maupun pada level perpustakaan.<strong> </strong>Media sosial merubah cara untuk berinteraksi, berbagi, dan menjalin hubungan. Beragam informasi muncul bagaikan air laut yang tak terbendung penyebarannya sehingga pemustaka dituntut harus bijak dalam memilih dan menggunakannya. Gelombang berita bohong semakin terasa dengan hadirnya media sosial. Media sosial menjadi tantangan bagi para pustakawan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi literasi media dengan teknologi baru. Perpustakaan melalui pustakawannya sangat berperan sebagai gerbang informasi sehat.</p>

This work presents an experimental study addressing the effects of turbulence promoters on heat transfer rate at circular cylinder in external cross flow. Within this framework, the work focuses on assessing the effects of three kind of turbulence promoters (with circular, square and hexagonal cross sections) on convective heat transfer enhancement. The distance from turbulence promoters to the circular cylinder (50, 100 and 150mm upstream), as well as the free stream velocity inside the wind tunnel (Reynolds number) were the parameters investigated. The validation of the experimental methodology was performed by comparing the present results with empiric correlations available in the literature. The main results indicate that the convective heat transfer coefficient was enhanced when using turbulence promoters. The highest heat transfer enhancement obtained was around 25% correponding to the case of square turbulence promoter placed closely (50mm) to the circular cylinder. Finally, it is worth mentioning that all the experimental results for the convective coefficient were condensed in a new empirical correlation with good accuracy.

Purpose Misinformation can have lasting impacts in the management and control of a public emergency. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how misinformation flows and how user characteristics can shape such flows in the context of a violent riot in Singapore. Design/methodology/approach The authors apply the two-step flow theory and discuss the mixed methods approach involving wrangling Twitter data and descriptive analysis to develop and analyse two corpuses of misinformation related to the riot. Findings The findings are mostly consistent with the two-step flow theory, in that misinformation flows to the masses from opinion leaders (as indicated by higher measures such as online social influence and followers/following ratio). In the presence of misinformation, tweets opposing such misinformation may not always come from opinion leaders. Practical implications The authors work furthers knowledge about how misinformation goes viral, which provides practical implications to help policymakers and scholars in understanding and managing the dynamics and pitfalls of misinformation during an emergency. Originality/value This paper tackles the problem of misinformation in public emergencies using a mixed methods approach and contributes to ongoing theoretical work on managing online misinformation especially in public emergencies and crises.
