Abstract: Aiming to solve in a faster and more economic way the growing demand on the Special Criminal Court field, and looking forward to a more harmonious solution of the conflicts, it was analyzed the legality and spreading of the Special Criminal Nuclei. Thus, it was discussed the legal and logistic viability of the conciliation process developed still in the police office stage, guided by marshals, founded on the scientific research studies, documents and analytic visits to the São Paulo Police Academy (ACADEPOL-SP in portuguese). It was demonstrated that the Special Criminal Nuclei are an effective alternative to the reduction of the demands in the Special Criminal Courts, resulting in a faster and cheaper process. It also was observed that the proposal to create the Special Criminal Nuclei is in agreement with the 9099/1995 law and its constitutional adjustment.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze the Ethical Conciliation Hearings held by the Regional Nursing Council of São Paulo. Methods: this is a retrospective study, of a quantitative approach, with documentary analysis. To obtain the data, documents related to ethical processes were analyzed. The time frame established for the study was from January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2017. Results: 513 Ethical Conciliation Hearings were held and ratified. Nurses represent the category that most denunciate and are most accused. The highest percentages of ethical conciliations were in events related to public and hospital institutions. The Conduct Adjustment Term was the modality with the highest number of agreements. The main reason of conciliation failure was the non-attendance of at least one of the parties. Conclusions: the Ethical Conciliation Hearings represent an effective alternative instrument for the resolution of ethical-disciplinary processes in nursing.

The current total number of species found in Brazil is 270, distributed in 19 families and 92 genera, an increase of 71 species and 12 genera in the last 6 years. The greatest known diversity is found in Rio de Janeiro (132 species), Amazonas (56), Espírito Santo (30) and São Paulo (28), while there are no record to seven Brazilian states (Acre, Alagoas, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Rio Grande do Norte, Roraima and Tocantins). Distribution of the records clearly defines the areas that urge investments in scientific research and taxonomic survey and reflects the concentration of information in those centers that host the few specialists in Collembola, currently working in Brazil.

Background: In light of the few reports from intertropical latitudes and their conflicting results, we aimed to replicate and update the investigation of seasonal patterns of suicide occurrences in the city of São Paulo, Brazil. Methods: Data relating to male and female suicides were extracted from the Mortality Information Enhancement Program (PRO-AIM), the official health statistics of the municipality of São Paulo. Seasonality was assessed by studying distribution of suicides over time using cosinor analyses. Results: There were 6,916 registered suicides (76.7% men), with an average of 39.0 ± 7.0 observed suicides per month. For the total sample and for both sexes, cosinor analysis estimated a significant seasonal pattern. For the total sample and for males suicide peaked in November (late spring) with a trough in May–June (late autumn). For females, the estimated peak occurred in January, and the trough in June–July. Conclusions: A seasonal pattern of suicides was found for both males and females, peaking in spring/summer and dipping in fall/winter. The scarcity of reports from intertropical latitudes warrants promoting more studies in this area.
