In this study, the authors focus on the environmental and economic aspects of sustainable development at the regional level. Theoretical aspects of sustainable development of regions have been described, the main environmental problems giving rise to the formation of proposals for sustainable development have been presented, and the main systems of indicators of environmentally sustainable development have been analyzed. The analysis of the dynamics of the main indicators of the environment state in the Republic of Kazakhstan has been carried out and problems that impede the formation of environmentally sustainable development in the region have been identified. The directions of solving the problems of environmental sustainability of regions have been developed, providing for the construction of an organizational and economic mechanism for environmentally sustainable development, as well as improving several tools for managing sustainability. The authors attempt to fill in the existing gaps based on the materials of Kazakhstan, showing the problems of effective management of environmental sustainability based on the greening of industrial production, introduction of environmental innovations, development of the environmental culture of the population, as well as scientific justification of approaches to assessing regional environmental sustainability.

The concept of sustainable development involves three components namely economic, social and environmental. In a developing economy like that of India, the economic sustainability demands higher growth of key economic indicators such as National income, employment generation, production, consumption and even the foreign trade. The growth of foreign trade and that of the exports are very critical for the foreign exchange reserves essential to pay for the imports in India. Trade as an engine of the economic growth thus fulfils the essential implication for economic sustainability. But in achieving this growth, economy’s environmental sustainability is at stake. This is because, the top export products of India still comprise of petroleum products (18%) , agricultural products (12%), textiles and yarns together at 11 % and chemicals (10%). All these exports in their production have immensely contributed towards environmental pollution in one way or the other. Mining for gold, silver and diamonds resulted in water pollution, Green House Gas emission, and soil erosion. Petroleum refineries are a major source of hazardous and toxic air pollutants such as particulate matter (PM).Though India’s contribution to the total world trade is yet negligible, while promoting the major exports as mentioned above the natural resources are exploited too much and thus create a threat to India’s environmental sustainability. This paper therefore advocates the need for the Green products’ exports to make India’s growth story even environmentally sustainable. Keywords: Sustainable development, Green products, Exports, Imports, Environmental Pollution

Concerns for world peace, freedom, and the future of people and the planet have led to several United Nations Conferences, generating discussions on global sustainable development. These efforts resulted in the 2030 Agenda and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The proposed Goal 14 reflects the concern for the conservation and sustainable use of oceans, seas, and marine resources. In this context, the research objects of this study are ocean cruise ships and the main dimension surveyed is environmental sustainability. Firstly, the study sought to identify through the convergence of the dimensions of sustainability and cruises the contributions to the cruise industry that promote the SDGs. To this end, we carried out a bibliometric analysis of scientific production on cruise ship environment, narrowing the research focus on environmentally sustainable practices. The second research objective is to examine cruise companies’ strategic inclination to provide information on environmental initiatives to the market. The results show little scientific research focused on the convergence of the two topics studied, environmental sustainability and cruises. Only 12 scientific articles were identified. Regarding the information on environmentally sustainable practices, the findings show that only 22.6% of the 31 cruise companies surveyed provide this information on their corporate websites.

. The paper assesses sustainable development dynamic aspects in territorial management. The relevance of the work is determined by the importance of territorial management based on the principles of sustainable development and the need to scrutinize the socio-environmental and economic potential of the territories in order to create conditions for the full use of available resources without compromising the quality of life of current and future generations. Methodologically, the study rests on the concept of sustainable development, resource theory of economic systems, the dynamic approach to management, and the methodology for constructing integrated indicators and systems of indicators. In the article, the methods of analysis, synthesis, systematization, statistical observation, etc. are applied. Having shown the advantages and disadvantages of integral indicators found in Russian and foreign studies, the authors focus on selecting official statistics data that adequately reflect the state of the economy, population health and welfare, as well as natural capital. An increase in the level of welfare and population social development, while maintaining environmental sustainability, is regarded as the criterion of sustainability. Addressing the case of the Volga macroregion, we characterize the current state of regional development and scrutinize the dynamic aspect, namely the long-term development trajectory of each of the 17 regions. The research analyzes the growth rates of sustainable development indicators for the period of 2010–2017. The study reveals significant differences in the dynamics across the regions. The Republic of Tatarstan and Nizhny Novgorod oblast demonstrate a positive trend in all the components at initially high values, while the Republic of Kalmykia shows the worst dynamics at low values. The authors conclude that the system of indicators is preferable to the integral indicator and the system for assessing the effectiveness of long-term measures of public policy and related management decisions.

The Republic of Turkey represents solid business opportunities for both Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and domestic enterprises. However, the economic sustainability of these opportunities lies in several key factors such as global hypercompetition, business creativity, the informal economy, and international brand equity. While abundant talent exists in multiple industries in Turkey, a major challenge is to encourage businesspersons and government elite to harness this talent better and make it more efficient. This chapter shall explore these and other factors like human resource management and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) training to examine how the nation's long-term economic prosperity can be maintained in a global environment which demands sustainable development.

An extensive and interdisciplinary literature review was carried out to evaluate the uses of synthetically produced ozone in many different application areas. The objective of the study was to investigate the disinfectant and purifying effectiveness of this natural compound and evaluate its use as an economically and environmentally sustainable alternative to treatments that often involve the adoption of pharmaceutical agents. Being a natural substance, the potential environmental sustainability of the use of ozone in areas such as water disinfectant; pesticide action in agriculture; and antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and antiviral actions in animal husbandry and fish farming are of interest. In addition to environmental sustainability, economic sustainability is also important for companies employing ozone in their processes. Thus, a case study was proposed that represents the use of ozone in a pilot swine farm located in Northern Italy, both as an alternative to pharmaceutical drugs for the animals and as an air and water purifier. The case study demonstrates the economic sustainability of ozone use, especially in the medium run, along with its ability to reduce animal mortality (by about 2%), as well as decrease use of pharmaceutical antibiotics.

The objective of the undertaken study is to investigate the sustainability of creative economy and present a case study providing the main findings on the linkages between creative economy and sustainable development. The in-depth literature review of the creative economy and sustainable development offered the main insights in the development of the case study hypotheses. A case study on the biggest music festival that was organised in Lithuania is provided. The findings confirm that creative economy can be environmentally sustainable, and the customers identified their clear preferences for sustainability criteria in music festivals; however, not all these preferences are properly addressed by the organisers of cultural events, as it was revealed by this case study. The results of a quantitative study show that the festival participants are increasingly expressing the need for sustainable music festivals, but organisers have not yet taken the necessary actions to address this need. It is likely that, in the near future, the festival organisers in Lithuania will have to start applying various sustainability criteria during the festivals in order to attract more visitors and generate more income from such events as well to ensure environmental safety. The practical implications of conducted study are equally important for all stakeholders, such as the community, policymakers, companies, and regulatory agencies that are concerned with the implementation of sustainable development practices.

Abstract The article discusses the formation and practical use of indicators for assessing the sustainability of development at the regional level. Using the example of the Amur ecoregion, we study the dynamics of some economic, social and environmental indicators in 2013-2019, their compliance with the objectives of the state policy for the accelerated development of the Far Eastern Federal District. It is shown that the result of the action of preferential regimes was the growth of resource industries in the structure of the economy of the Amur ecoregion. A certain decrease in the parameters of sustainability according to social indicators was revealed with positive dynamics of economic and relative stability of environmental indicators in the Amur ecoregion. The relevance and scientific significance of the development of methodological and methodological support for assessing socio-ecological-economic sustainability and the formation of its indicators for the regional level was confirmed.
