Due to the interdisciplinary nature of design education, it has a very broad spectrum ranging from motion picture to informative design methods. Animation techniques are also one of the important parts of this wide variety of work. Today, almost every institution is involved in animation techniques in design education. Animation with various application methods is the field where the most creative examples of motion pictures are revealed.  The purpose of this research is to discuss the place of flip book animation in design education and to investigate its contributions to design education, which is one of the creative animation techniques. It is considerably significant that students experience how the form of motion pictures is created through one of the methods at a beginning level and understand the nature of motion picture in design education process. Flip book animation, is a method by which students will be able to grasp the logic of creating motion pictures using static drawing or photography. Flip book animation is one of the first animation techniques to be achieved by combining successive still images processed with different surfaces. It may be considered as an old and outdated motion pictures technique for that reason, yet there are still flip book festivals and it is used as an effective method in teaching animation process.

Schools of six jack mackerel each were photographed with infrared film at eight levels of luminance and also in darkness. Three indices were used to measure the behavior of the school from motion pictures. Two of the indices, mean distance to nearest neighbor and mean separation distance, were measures of the distances between individuals in a school; the other, mean angular deviation, was a measure of differences in orientation between individuals. A value for each index was calculated for each motion picture frame. From 12.1 to 6 × 10−6 ft-L no differences existed in the angular deviation of the school or in the distances between fish. At 6 × 10−7 ft-L the intervals between fish were much larger than at higher levels of brightness and groups showed little uniformity in their orientation. Below 6 × 10−7 ft-L (darkness) schools were dispersed and the distributions of values of angular deviation were random. The ability of jack mackerel to feed on live adult Artemia was also tested at eight levels of luminance and in darkness. The number of Artemia eaten at 6 × 10−5 ft-L was about half of that eaten at the normal daytime level of 12.1 ft-L. Few Artemia were eaten at 6 × 10−7 ft-L and none in darkness.Comparison of these data with measurements of light in the sea indicated that jack mackerel probably would be able to maintain schools near the surface on a moonless starlit night and that they probably could feed effectively near the surface on a full moonlight night.

Today's economic development is dynamic, closely connected with high technology applications, a growth in intellectual capital and widespread innovations. Most economically developed countries realise the need to create new solutions to present or upcoming problems. Creating a modern innovative, educational, scientific and technological infrastructure becomes an important issue. The 21st century sets new challenges to future engineering specialists. The paper analyses the currently demanded engineering competencies and modern requirements to engineer training in order to prepare reliable specialists for the labour market. The purpose of this paper is to present a brief analysis of the syllabi and the content of the separate disciplines which ensure qualified student education. An attempt to include geometrical dimensioning and tolerance in design education at TU – Varna was reported in this paper, standards which are the core of geometrical product specifications inevitably required in the age of globalization of industry. The paper gives some hints how to teach efficiently the new generation of GPS standards at the mechanical engineering faculty.

In the perspective of globalization, the internationalization of education has become an inevitable trend in the development of current design education. The original intention of internationalization of education is to promote the reform of design education by absorbing and learning from international advanced educational resources. This paper combines many years of practical experience of international design education exchanges in Central South University, and has conducted beneficial discussions in teaching concepts, teaching methods, teaching modes, etc., and proposes new ideas for value education, process control, and modeless teaching, which are powerful promoting the reform of design education and achieving a close connection with international advanced design education.
