Abstract- A water pump shaft for utility water raw material was failed. The shaft was broken into two parts. While in dismantling, the sand was found in chamber between bearing and shaft. There was also a bolt in the impeller. According to reports, the pump has been repaired and since there was no replacement shaft but the shaft was reused in reverse position. There was no inspection of the shaft when it was disconnected by operational reasons. The failure analysis of the broken-shaft was performed to investigate the cause of the failure. Two inspection and analysis were perfomed those are visual inspection and material identification and analysis. When material analysis of the shaft was carried out there was difference between examination and data specification of the shaft. The material identification indicate that the material was AISI SS 304 whereas specification data states SS 316. Both materials have similar tensile stress, so the difference was not the contributor of the failure. The present of foreign material was consider as the cause of the failure. The foreign material caused to stucked on rotation of shaft and increasing in tensile of the shaft over its ultimate strength. Keywords – vertical pump, tensile stress, ultimate strength, material identification

Pump shafts are generally exposed to the liquid being pumped either on a continual basis or at certain locations along the length of the shaft. The shaft material is austenitic stainless steel, description ASTM AU 79 TY 316. The purpose of this study is to determine the failure of the water pump shaft used in the power plant. Metallography is the study of structure metal shaft can used as a means for CWP metal pelleting (Circulating Water Pump), for the purpose of damaged or deeply degraded areas. SEM test is used to know the beginning of the crack (crack initiation). EDS test is used to chemical composition and Vikers hardness test is also used to know the hardness material. These three tests to support in analyzing the failure of the pump shaft. The conclusion of this failure analysis is the shaft material has porosity. Fatigue cracking comes from the outer surface area.

The shaft bearing is the key component of water pump and its fatigue failure results in the abnormal operation of the system. However, the failure mechanisms of bearing are still unclear. In this paper, the failure analysis on the engine water pump shaft bearing was carried out by using the measurement of material composition and properties, observation of macro and micro morphologies, and theoretical analysis of fatigue failure. The wear behavior and failure mechanisms were clarified, and the prevention measures was further proposed. The bearing failure reflected from the fracture of bearing cage and serious wear of roller and mandrel. The wear behavior of the mandrel originated from the surface fatigue, and the failure was attributed to the large radial deflection load. Further, the decreased weight of impeller and shaft connector and the increased bearing thickness were recommended to improve the bearing operation.

The article provides an overview of the principle of the pump D630-90, as well as methods for studying the real conditions of technical support to improve maintainability and optimize technological processes and systems. A technological process for the restoration of the shaft of a centrifugal water pump has been developed and an algorithm for managing it has been proposed, on the basis of which the system for energy-efficient management of the recovery area has been implemented. Also in the article some questions of use, metal-filled compound SK812, and also application of ultrasonic processing of a surface of a shaft of the centrifugal water pump of mark D630-90 are mentioned and considered. The developed technological process of pump shaft restoration showed that it is characterized by simplicity, it fits well into the production process of repair and can be widely used in repair shops.

This study aims to analyze whether the difference that occurs in the cost of raw materials, direct labor, and factory overhead costs between the standard costs and the actual costs in PLTU LATI is a difference that is favorable or unfavorable. Data collection techniques with field research and library research. The analytical tool used is the analysis of the difference in raw material costs, the difference in direct labor costs and the difference in factory overhead costs. The hypothesis in this study is that the difference allegedly occurs in the cost of raw materials, direct labor costs, and factory overhead costs at PT Indo Pusaka Berau Tanjung Redeb is a favorable difference. The results showed that the difference in the cost of producing MWh electricity at PT Indo Pusaka Berau Tanjung Redeb in 2018, namely the difference in the price of raw material costs Rp. 548,029.80, - is favorable, the difference in quantity of raw materials is Rp. 957,216,602, - is (favorable) , the difference in direct labor costs Rp 2,602,642,084, - is (unfavorable), and the difference in factory overhead costs Rp 8,807,051,422, - is (favorable) This shows that the difference in the overall production cost budget is favorable or profitable. This beneficial difference shows that the company is really able to reduce production costs optimally in 2018.

Rubber-tracked transporters are becoming increasingly popular in agriculture, forestry and military transportation. Rubber track systems are typically fitted instead of using tyres on the transporter to decrease soil stress and increase trafficability. Therefore, the accurate failure analysis of a rubber track is important. A model for predicting stress distribution along a rubber track is presented in this study. In the model, the stress along a rubber track consists of the vertical stress below the rubber track, tensile stress, bending stress and centrifugal tensile stress. Moreover, fourth strength theory was used to change a complicated stress state to a simple stress state. An experiment was performed at the test site of Harbin First Machinery Building Group Ltd, with a total weight of 61.789 kN. The experiment was conducted to verify and approve the theoretical model. The Miner rule was used to predict the cycle index and working hour of the rubber track, thereby providing a method for predicting the fatigue life of a rubber track.

The effect of raw material characteristics (longissimus dorsi and biceps femoris) on dry-cured loin and ham quality from three different Iberian · Duroc genotypes was studied: GEN1: ♂ Iberian · ♀ Duroc1, GEN2: ♂ Duroc1 · ♀ Iberian; GEN3: ♂ Duroc2 · ♀ Iberian. GEN1 and GEN2 are reciprocal crosses, while the difference between GEN2 and GEN3 is the Duroc sire line. The line Duroc1 (DU1) was selected for the manufacture of dry-cured meat products, whereas the line Duroc2 (DU2) was selected for meat production with low carcass fat. Raw material and dry-cured meat products did not differ between reciprocal crosses (GEN1 vs. GEN2). However, the genotype of the Duroc sire line affected the quality of meat and dry-cured meat products. GEN1 and GEN2 had higher adipogenic nature and higher postmortem pH than GEN3, and as a result, these dry-cured meat products had better instrumental and sensory quality than those from GEN3. By contrast, meat from GEN3 had lower pH, fat content, and oxidative stability which decreased the quality of dry-cured meat products. Therefore, there was a close connection between raw material and dry-cured meat products quality as it was affected by characteristics related to the genotype such as the adipogenic character and meat quality traits associated with pH.
