The study investigated the impact of mandatory work from home due COVID-19 on personal and professional lives of people with different demographics. Statistical analysis of an online survey data (N=237) reveals that the impact on personal life dimensions—healthy lifestyle, family bonding, and physical stress—does not differ across people within different demographics. However, impact on emotional well-being is sensitive to gender and industry groups. Family size is also an important demographic factor impacted upon personal life dimensions. Professional dimensions related to work productivity and adopting new ways of working does not differ across demographics except for occupational role. Dimensions related to new skill development and change in professional attitude does differ across occupational roles. The study concludes by stating future research directions for mandatory work from home situation, and prescription to post-COVID-19 strategies for organizations.

Abstract: This study analyzes factors that may influence the expectations of practicing future sports. Among these factors, the motivation and resistance towards the practice of physical activity and sports from 300 students of the Central University of Ecuador are analysed. The metaphorical constructions of the students are also interpreted in relation to the impact that the physical activity and sports -PAS has in their personal lives. The metaphorical constructions of the students, in relation to the meaning that the PAS represents in their personal life are also considered and the students’ perception of their Physical activity and Sports teachers also is requested. Finally, the expectations of PAS practice that they express are taken into account. The methodology is qualitative with an interpretative approach. The data collection technique is an interview that allows you to understand the problem from the perspective of its protagonists. In the data processing, the Aquad 6 computer program is used, which allows the analysis of the narratives through categories and codes. The results show that motivation exceeds resistance, and that the lack of time is its great difficulty to practice. In the study of metaphors, the level of satisfaction indicated, coincides with the metaphors of the value of PAS in personal life as a source of well-being and health. The findings show high expectations which could be correlated with the positive satisfactions in practice, the image of the teaching staff and the vital relevance they attach to the PAS.Resumen: Esta investigación analiza factores que pueden influir en las expectativas de práctica deportiva futura. Específicamente, se analizan las motivaciones y resistencias hacia la práctica de actividad física y deportiva de 300 estudiantes de la Universidad Central del Ecuador. Asimismo, se analizan las construcciones metafóricas de los estudiantes en relación al sentido que la actividad física y el deporte- AFD representa en su vida personal. Estos resultados se relacionan con la percepción que los estudiantes tienen de su profesorado de Actividad Física y Deportiva y con la representación metafórica de la imagen del profesor de AFD que se les solicita. Finalmente, se analizan las expectativas de práctica de AFD que manifiestan. La metodología es cualitativa con un enfoque interpretativo. La recogida de datos se registra mediante una entrevista que permite comprender la problemática desde la perspectiva de sus protagonistas. En el procesamiento de datos se utiliza el programa informático Aquad 6, que posibilita el análisis de las narrativas a través de categorías y códigos. Los resultados evidencian que la afección supera a la resistencia, que la falta de tiempo es su mayor dificultad para la práctica. En el estudio de metáforas, las satisfacciones señaladas, la salud y la satisfacción en la práctica, coinciden con las imágenes del valor de la AFD en su vida personal como fuente de bienestar y salud. La opinión sobre el profesorado es positiva y la imagen metafórica muestra una visión idealizada del profesor en el que quieren convertirse. Los hallazgos muestran altas expectativas lo que podría correlacionarse con las positivas satisfacciones en la práctica, la imagen del profesorado y la vital relevancia que conceden a la AFD.

ObjectivesPeople with chronic hepatitis B (CHB) perform sick roles, work roles and personal roles simultaneously. At times, role conflicts arise because of failure to meet the expectations of different roles. Role conflicts may increase dissatisfaction in work and family and impair their physical and mental health. This study aimed to explore the perceptions of role conflicts of treatment-naive patients with CHB in work, personal and sick roles, together with ameliorating factors in the Chinese cultural context.DesignA qualitative descriptive study. Semistructured interviews were used to collect the experience of work–health–personal life conflicts (WHPLCs), and a brief questionnaire was used to collect demographic and clinical information. SPSS V.21.0 was used for descriptive analysis and Dedoose (V.7.5.9) was used to code and analyse interview transcripts. This study selected six cities with different socioeconomic levels in Zhejiang Province, China. Then, researchers chose one tertiary hospital from each city as the study site, so a total of six tertiary hospitals were involved.ParticipantsWe recruited 32 patients with CHB (59.38% male) who had just started antiviral therapy for no more than three months. Participants were within the age range of 19-57 years, and the average age was 36.03 (SD=9.56) years.ResultsParticipants noted that having CHB influenced their daily life and intersected with work and personal roles, therefore causing role conflicts. Role conflicts focused on three types: time-based conflicts, strain-based conflicts and behaviour-based conflicts. The contextual factors contributing to role conflicts were identified, including personal characteristics, financial strain, traditional social roles and work environment.ConclusionsThese findings enhance our understanding of the WHPLCs experience of treatment-naive patients with CHB in China. Our findings suggest that multidimensional role conflicts should be taken into account in the intervention design and psychological counselling to improve role balance and well-being among patients with CHB.

The goal of this article is to further illuminate the poorly understood distribution of psychosocial well-being at the national population level (the distribution of conventional economic well-being is, of course, well understood). After reviewing psychosocial phenomena that cannot be predicted by the “conventional” class structure, the author introduces a new definition of production output value (New Value), more closely related to psychosocial well-being. A psychosocial class structure model is presented based on nine occupational subgroups in four status levels, representing both conventional and New Value-based status differences. An empirical analysis of 38 occupations in the U.S. work force (U.S. Quality of Employment Surveys 1969, 1972, 1977) uses psychosocial job dimensions of decision latitude, psychological demands, physical exertion, and social support. The author reviews job redesign strategies for three New Value “impoverished” groups with routinized, bureaucratized, and commercialized jobs, and the conditions for economic stability and political participation related to the psychosocial class structure model. Conflicts arising between conventional and New Value-based policies are discussed.

According to our results, increase in productivity of personal prediction has a positive influence on life satisfaction. The present research explores what role the various types of future prediction play in personal life satisfaction. The study focuses on some psychological time phenomena: desires, life choices, aspirations, motivations. To influence personal well-being the desires might be mature, productive, strong and adequately assessed the current life situation. For high level of well-being intrapersonal desires are more important than interpersonal ones. The life choice determining the horizon prediction leads to the transformation of meanings due to the development of new causal sequences of life-satisfaction. The satisfaction with own self and own life world grows when a person makes life-changing decisions from some alternatives. There are the criteria of readiness for significant choices to increase life-satisfaction: self-organizing; psychosemantic; subjective; functional; operational. The stages of life aspirations include communicative semiotization for defining unconscious ambitions and the registration of the forecast as an underway to the desired plot of worthy life, the narration activation leads to the verbal form of the forecast as a desirable plot of a worthy life, and purposeful creation of the story about decent future life, known as setting the concrete tasks. Motivation-semantic future structuring determines the personal life-satisfaction while taking the narrative form in different contexts of communication. The future structuring which is directly related to the effort to optimize the quality of life is self-creating and re-assessment one; in the 1-st model a person re-assesses adopted values and the source of life changes as changes of own self through the integration of new experience; in the 2-and model the values are already adopted, interpreted, and the movement is due to the changes in life situation.

Within undergraduate social work education, personal life characteristics are viewed predominantly in relation to their implications for social worker professional role identity. But personal life factors should also be considered in relation to occupational health and well-being. To better understand this relationship in social work specifically, data from interviews with social workers who reported low to medium levels of overall work and profession satisfaction were analyzed. Respondents noted that personal life factors such as interpersonal relationships and intrapersonal functioning affected their overall subjective well-being, and they highlighted several intersecting factors between their personal lives and professional roles that contribute to overall well-being. The findings have implications for social work education in regard to issues of self-care and the development of inter- and intrapersonal skills to maintain positive occupational health.
