AbstractIn many industries and processes, heat exchangers are of vital importance as they are used to transfer heat from one fluid to another. These fluids can be corrosive to heat exchangers, which are usually made of metallic materials. This paper illustrates that corrosion is an important problem in the operation of heat exchangers in many environments, for which no straightforward answer exists. Corrosion failures of heat exchangers are common, and corrosion often involves high maintenance or repair costs. In this review, an overview is given of what is known on corrosion in heat exchangers. The different types of corrosion encountered in heat exchangers and the susceptible places in the devices are discussed first. This is combined with an overview of failure analyses for each type of corrosion. Next, the effect of heat transfer on corrosion and the influence of corrosion on the thermohydraulic performances are discussed. Finally, the prevention and control of corrosion is tackled. Prevention goes from general design considerations and operation guidelines to the use of cathodic and anodic protection.

Dengue fever is a painful mosquito-borne infection caused by different types of virus in various localities of the world. There is no particular medicine or vaccine to treat person suffering from dengue fever. Dengue viruses are transmitted by the bite of female Aedes (Ae) mosquitoes. Dengue fever viruses are mainly transmitted by Aedes which can be active in tropical or subtropical climates. Aedes Aegypti is the key step to avoid infection transmission to save millions of people in all over the world. This paper provides a standard guideline in the planning of dengue prevention and control measures. At the same time gives the priorities including clinical management and hospitalized dengue patients have to address essentially.

Abstract This paper presents a discussion and comparison of some heat exchanger types readily applicable to use as intercoolers in gas turbine systems. The present study concerns a heat duty of the intercooler for a gas turbine of around 17 MW power output. Four different types of air-water heat exchangers are considered. This selection is motivated because of the practical aspects of the problem. Each configuration is discussed and explained, regarding advantages and disadvantages. The available literature on the pressure drop and heat transfer correlations is used to determine the thermal-hydraulic performance of the various heat exchangers. Then a comparison of the intercooler core volume, weight, pressure drop is presented.

Compared to conventional ground heat exchangers that require a separate pump or othermechanical devices to circulate the heat transfer fluid, ground coupled thermosiphons or naturallycirculating ground heat exchangers do not require additional equipment for fluid circulation in theloop. This might lead to a better overall efficiency and much simpler operation. This paper providesa review of the current published literature on the different types of existing ground coupledthermosiphons for use in applications requiring moderate and low temperatures. Effort has beenfocused on their classification according to type, configurations, major designs, and chronologicalyear of apparition. Important technological findings and characteristics are provided in summarytables. Advances are identified in terms of the latest device developments and innovative conceptsof thermosiphon technology used for the heat transfer to and from the soil. Applications arepresented in a novel, well-defined classification in which major ground coupled thermosiphonapplications are categorized in terms of medium and low temperature technologies. Finally,performance evaluation is meticulously discussed in terms of modeling, simulations, parametric,and experimental studies.

Heat exchangers play an important role in power, the chemical industry, petroleum, food and many other industrial productions, while compact heat exchangers are more favored in industrial applications due to their high thermal efficiency and small size. This paper summarizes the research status of different types of compact heat exchangers, especially the research results of heat transfer and pressure drop of printed circuit heat exchangers, so that researchers can have an overall understanding of the development of compact heat exchangers and get the required information quickly. In addition, this paper summarizes and analyzes several main working fluids selected in compact heat exchangers, and puts forward some discussions and suggestions on the selection of working fluids. Finally, according to the existing published literature, the performance evaluation indexes of compact heat exchangers are summarized and compared, which is convenient for developers and researchers to better grasp the design direction.

This research presents a bibliometric overview of the state of the art around the world regarding carbon emission and control of particulate matter, focusing on keywords, connection networks between author, countries, and quantitative and temporal analysis of publications. The method used was based on the features of the software Vosviewer version 1.6.15, and data extraction for processing of the Scopus database resulting in a sample of 102 papers between the years 2010 and 2020. The results show that research on the topic is still recent and there is no scientific homogeneity in the approaches, they also show that oriental researchers are the ones with more connection networks and although researchers in general are not very connected, the general used keywords have many connections, with emphasis on the term “particle (of particulate matter)” most used in average in 2018. China has 3 lines of research: 1. passive removal through plants like sea lettuce but with little influence; 2. removal using technology such as washing filters and technological Nano; 3. technological with coating made of metallic materials capable of capturing carbon. The western, in general, led by American research, uses passive solutions, by removing pollutants with different types of plants and seeking to find value for the tons of carbon removed by the plants.

If the crude oil in storage tank is directly heated without considering its temperature distribution, several problems will occur, namely, the thermal expansion of crude oil, and the uneven thickness of the condensate layer, bringing difficulty to the safe management of crude oil storage and transport. However, few scholars have analyzed the temperature field distribution of crude oil storage tank (COST) under heating, or the internal force of COST under static force. Thus, this paper probes into the thermal stress of tank wall, and the risk prevention and control of COST. Firstly, the heat transfer properties of COST were analyzed, an energy balance model was constructed for COST, and several variables were selected to evaluate the heat transfer effect of the tank under different heating modes, including thermal design power, temperature rise rate, and heat energy utilization rate. Next, the cross-section of COST wall was selected for thermal stress analysis. Based on the extremes of circumferential and vertical thermal stresses, the weak parts of COST susceptible to risks like leakage were determined, and several measures and suggestions were presented for reducing the risks of crude oil storage and transport.
