Abstract Working students face many challenges: they must balance work, school, extracurricular activities, and personal life. Several studies reflected the fact that this balancing act goes hand-in-hand with the level of stress. The scope of the study was to find out whether working students in the Faculty of Engineering Sibiu experience different levels of stress compared with the non-working students. Eighty students from the third year of studies were interviewed regarding the research topic. The interviewed students were randomly selected, five working and five non-working students from each of the eight faculty specializations. The results of the study reflect the fact that the management of the faculty and the professors themselves must take into consideration that stress is a factor that affects students’ performance and behavior.

Abstract Faculty of Engineering in Sibiu is facing an increasing demand from industrial companies to employ students not only by the time of graduation but even during university studies. The scope of the study was to provide an insight on working students’ profile and the problems they are confronting with. Forty working students from the third year of Faculty of Engineering Sibiu were interviewed with regard of the research topic. Results of the study reflect the fact that a majority of working students face difficulties in school, having low grades or failed exams. The exam session seems to be a hard period for working students, and many of them find difficulties in attending all lectures or finding time to learn. Having a job while studying impacts personal activities, as well. Stress symptoms like: loss of appetite or overeating, difficulties in focusing, difficulties in taking decisions or feelings of restless are mentioned by the majority of working students. The results of the study are useful for the management of the faculty to come up with some measures to increase working students’ lectures attendance. Student support programs for reducing the stress among the group of working students must be developed as well.

This quantitative research aims to examine how different levels of motivation relate to frequency of occurrence of autonomous language learning activities undertaken by undergraduate students. Eight hundred and sixty-two college students from 10 vocational training programs of a public university located in Ecuador, South America, participated in this study. Spratt’s questionnaire that regards ‘autonomy and motivation’ as a cyclical interaction in the language learning process, was updated by the researchers, adding digital education elements. The data were analyzed using the program SPSS v24.0.0 The results showed that there was a significant relationship between: the language learning stimulation generated by professors and the participants’ learning attitudes. In addition, it was determined that the most frequent language practices in which the participants showed greatest autonomy were: listening to songs in English language, worrying about the correct pronunciation, and noting down interesting words or expressions in English.

The purpose of this paper is twofold: (1) to investigate how L2 learners deal with polysemous words or phrases without instruction about polysemy and (2) to observe what alternatives L2 learners have instead of instruction. In this paper, a case study was administered with three advanced college students. The material was an American movie, Café Society (Allen, 2016). All participants were tested three times with mostly polysemous words and phrases. It was found in the first test that the participants depended heavily on context to decide which senses of polysemous words were appropriate. The second test showed that the participants failed to handle the context because it was too difficult for them. In the third test, participants often misjudged the context and consequently made wrong choices among several senses. The results of the tests indicate that context is key to dealing with polysemous words or phrases. The pedagogical implication is that L2 students need context to deal with polysemous words or phrases. Teachers must instruct about the context. Image schemas and conceptual metaphors are only products of the interaction between context and polysemous words.

Today, the attitudes and behavior of Indonesian students are declining. Schools as a component of character building have an important task in inculcating morals, ethical values, noble character, and strong and tough characters. This study was conducted to analyze the implementation of character education in Indonesia. The qualitative research using an ethnographic approach was used in this study on the implementation of character education in elementary schools. A total of 115 participants were interviewed at the school, including principals, teachers, extracurricular coaches, parents, and students. Observation, interviews, and documentation were used as the research instrument. From the results of this study, it was found that character education was very much needed in learning. The character education that was implemented in the elementary school sample includes religion; discipline; responsibility; leadership; tolerance; cooperation; love cleanliness; neatness; courtesy; perseverance; bravery; self-confidence; economical; independence; honesty; acceptance diversity; nationalism; Justice; creativity; and reward achievement. This study also described the character education strategies applied in elementary schools, namely, exemplary; habituation; school climate conditioning; integration in learning across all subjects; and integration through extracurricular activities.   Received: 2 September 2021 / Accepted: 30 October 2021 / Published: 3 January 2022

Life in affluent, big city society with huge amounts of easily accessible food results in extensive food waste on different levels, causing greenhouse gas emissions. The aim of this article is to explore and discuss whether—and if so, how—an urban art action may contribute to displacement in social food practices. Using the Swedish artist Andrea Hvistendahl’s ongoing project No Waste Cooking as a case study, I approach this art action through Jacques Rancière’s concept of politics as distribution and redistribution of the sensible. The most important research questions are: How is No Waste Cooking involved in redistributing social food waste practices? How is the project related to similar projects in visual culture? No Waste Cooking concerns saving and upgrading food from grocery stores that would otherwise be thrown away. As an urban gleaner, Hvistendahl gathers this food and intervenes between grocery stores and consumers, creating a space for leftovers, sensations and reflections. Food after its expiration date has become the fulcrum, the third thing, a common reference in which the artist, the visitors, as well as the readers are invited to reassess our values and behavior patterns on food, and elaborate and develop further discussion and proliferation. In this sense, No Waste Cooking has a didactic function, displaying ethical questions and possible ways to deal with them without straightforward answers. Albeit in a modest alteration, art becomes life.

Avoiding ruptures in educational trajectories due to social problems demands synergic actions between social policy and educational policy. This research gives an account of the elements that affect the articulation between these two policies, based on an instrumental case study that deepens the difficulties in the implementation process of the commitments assigned by the policy of prevention and eradication of child labor to the system educational. For the reconstruction of the case, policy documents of the last two decades were analyzed and 42 actors were consulted at different levels of the education and protection system in Colombia and Bogotá. It is found that the knowledge and interpretation of child labor, the articulation between the different levels of the educational system, and the technical and operational capacity of the actors that must implement the actions established by the policy of prevention and eradication of child labor inside the educational institutions, are indispensable factors to respond in a pertinent way to the reality of working students.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the influence of attitudes on the intention to choose Islamic banks, to analyze the effect of subjective norm on the intention to choose Islamic banks. to analyze the effect of the control behavior of the intention to choose the Islamic banks, to analyze the moderating influence of religiosity on the relationship attitudes, subjective norms and behavioral control of the intention to choose the Islamic banks . The method used is a survey with a sampling technique used purposive sampling with a sample size of this study was 100 respondents . Further analysis tools used in this study is multiple regression analysis using SPSS 16.0 software . Based on this study it can be concluded that the attitude does not affect to the intention of choose Bank BRISyariah. Subjective norm positive effect on intention choose Bank BRISyariah. Control behavior does not affect to the intention choose Bank BRISyariah. Relationship between Attitudes, Subjective Norms and Behavior Control with the intention to select Bank BRISyariah not moderated by religiosity.Based on these conclusions can be said that the Bank BRISyariah should improve understanding related to the subjective norm in order to increase the number of customers who use the services of Islamic Banking . Further research is recommended in order to follow up and develop this research to further explore the independent and dependent variables continued before and after behavioral intention or intention to perform a specific action .
