The new UK national security strategy review (March 2021) has an integrated character, for the first time uniting the spheres of defense, security, development and foreign policy in one concept. This paper explores the evolution of the Johnson government approaches to the content of the strategy and its implementation in the context of post-Brexit and its implications for UK-Russia bilateral relations.

The unsatisfactory state of Russian-UK relations should be considered not so much in a bilateral format as in the context of global change in the balance of power. It is necessary to take into account not only the factor of Britain's exit from the EU and Britain's search for its place in the world, but also the traditions and principles of the United Kingdom's foreign policy throughout history. The new National Security Strategy of Britain (March 2021) is integrated, for the first time including in a single concept traditional areas of defense and security, as well as aid to development and foreign policy. The author analyzes the evolution of approaches to the content and the implementation of London's foreign policy strategy after Brexit in the light of its significance for Russian-UK relations.

The National Security Strategy is one of the state’s critical documents, which sublimates the knowledge of the security environment, possible forms of endangerment, and the proposed guidelines for ensuring the security of a nation. Dynamic processes in the geopolitical global, and regional environment, globalization of forms and content of possible security breaches, continuous arms race, and the dominant changed hybrid physiognomy of war are dominant vectors of influence on a national security strategy of every nation. In 2019, the Republic of Serbia adopted its recent National Security Strategy. The paper analyzes the declared foreign policy determinants of Serbia’s national security strategies, intending to critically oppose them with current threats to Serbia’s s national security. Based on the comparative method and analysis of current documents, with respecting the political and economic reality, the paper provokes the proposed priorities with possible development trends while respecting internal and external entities’ influence on developing the national security system and state of the Republic of Serbia. The paper critically exploring the declared determinants of foreign policy in Serbia’s national security strategies by means of analysis of current documents and comparative methods. ABSTRAKT Strategia Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego jest jednym z krytycznych dokumentów państwa, sublimującym wiedzę o bezpieczeństwie, możliwych formach zagrożenia oraz proponowanych wytycznych dla zapewnienia bezpieczeństwa państwa. Dynamiczne procesy w geopolitycznym środowisku globalnym i regionalnym, globalizacja form i treści możliwych naruszeń bezpieczeństwa, ciągły wyścig zbrojeń oraz zmieniona fizjonomia wojny są dominującymi wektorami wpływu na strategię bezpieczeństwa narodowego każdego państwa. W 2019 r. Republika Serbii przyjęła swoją najnowszą Strategię Bezpieczeństwa Narodowego. Artykuł analizuje deklarowane determinanty polityki zagranicznej w strategiach bezpieczeństwa narodowego Serbii, z zamiarem ich krytycznego przeciwstawienia aktualnym zagrożeniom dla bezpieczeństwa narodowego kraju. Bazując na metodzie porównawczej i analizie aktualnych dokumentów, z uwzględnieniem realiów politycznych i gospodarczych, w artykule porównuje się zaproponowane priorytety wraz z możliwymi tendencjami rozwojowymi, z poszanowaniem wpływu podmiotów wewnętrznych i zewnętrznych na rozwój systemu bezpieczeństwa narodowego i stanu Republiki Serbii. Artykuł krytycznie bada deklarowane determinanty polityki zagranicznej w narodowych strategiach bezpieczeństwa Serbii poprzez analizę aktualnych dokumentów i metod porównawczych.

National security is one of the most important components of the state’s entity to preserve its role and position and ensure its progress. Therefore, it is noted that most countries of the world give priority to issues related to national security. On the other hand, it can be said that Libyan national security has not received sufficient attention at the practical and academic levels, and this may be due to more than reason; The political data were not aware of the importance of the matter intentionally or unintentionally, and with the succession of events and developments in Libya in recent years, the issue began to take serious dimensions affecting the Libyan national security in its broad sense at the core, which requires concerted official, informal and academic efforts to address and address this. Topic. Libya is going through conditions and events that are not appropriate for stability and national security cohesion. Indeed, Libya is now living in a vacuum and a national reality characterized by many indicators of disintegration, conflict and violence. This is evident in the criticism of citizens, but in phenomena and events that negatively affect the coherence of national security, and this situation will inevitably lead to Citizens' lack of confidence in their state, but rather to the dissolution and disintegration of the structure of society, and the transformation of this building into groups, tribes, or regions in conflict and even warring with weapons, and this conflict will increase the disintegration of national cohesion and create a national political vacuum that helps foreign intervention in the Libyan affairs under the pretext of helping to maintain security and stability. This intervention may conceal foreign interests and agendas, and lead the country to the unknown and all the possibilities and political and security scenes whose far-reaching goals Libyans are ignorant of. Therefore, everyone in Libya is walking on a road that they do not know its end, and this requires thinking, planning and action to preserve national security and increase the degree of cohesion of all its components, whether Be it tribes, groups, or political and ideological centers, all Libyans are in one boat sailing towards the shore of safety, and it may sink in a sea that does not know the end of its end, and in view of these considerations, we saw the need to address the problems and repel the greedy in the wealth of Libya, to preserve the Libyan national security and make recommendations to strengthen it And maintain it. With our knowledge of the broadening aspects of national security in its broadest sense, we can begin to root this issue by examining its foundations and the current challenges it faces. Donald Trump’s 2017 National Security Strategy (NSS) promises to put “America first.” However, it is only a partial break from convention, and evinces a deep current of incoherence in Trump’s foreign policy. The NSS attempts to combine two incompatible worldviews into a single doctrine: the president’s “America First” nationalism and the seventy-year-old internationalist consensus among the US foreign policy establishment. Not only does it betray strategic dissonance, it portends an impossible working relationship between Trump’s insurgent nationalism and the traditionalism of the US foreign policy bureaucracy.


Significance On foreign policy, the three parties are rhetorically committed to adopting a tougher stance towards China and other authoritarian countries. However, they differ on what this might involve and the relative threats posed by China and Russia. To enhance foreign policy coordination, in an unprecedented three-party coalition, they have agreed to draft a national security strategy.
