The first translations of the New Testament into the Russian language, which were carried out at the beginning of the 19th century, are usually regarded as a missionary project. But the language of these translations may prove that they were addressed to a rather narrow audience. As is known, the Russian Bible Society established in 1812 began its activities not with translations into Russian but with the mass edition of the Church Slavonic text of the Bible. In other words, it was the Church Slavonic Bible that was initially taken as the “Russian” Bible. Such a perception correlated with the sociolinguistic situation of that period, when, among the literate country and town dwellers, people learned grammar according to practices dating back to Medieval Rus’, which meant learning by heart the Church Slavonic alphabet, the Book of Hours, and the Book of Psalms; these readers were in the majority, and they could understand the Church Slavonic Bible much better than they could a Russian-language version. That is why the main audience for the “Russian” Bible was the educated classes who read the Bible in European languages, not in Russian. The numbers of targeted readers for the Russian-language translation of the Bible were significantly lower than those for the Church Slavonic version. The ideas of the “language innovators” (who favored using Russian as a basis for a new national language) thus appeared to be closer to the approach taken by the Bible translators than the ideas of “the upholders of the archaic tradition” (who favored using the vocabulary and forms of Church Slavonic as their basis). The language into which the New Testament was translated moved ahead of the literary standard of that period, and that was one of the reasons why the work on the translation of the Bible into the Russian language was halted.

There was accomplished the procedure of linguistic and cultural adaptation of a questionnaire Spinal Cord Independence Measure (SCIM-III) specifically designed for the assessment of disorders of life activity in patients with traumatic disease of the spinal cord. In the work there are presented: the Russian-language version of the questionnaire, instructions on features of the filling and evaluation of results.

To date, an otorhinolaryngologist has no single Russian language screening questionnaire for patients with complaints of tinnitus in the practice. At the same time, it is important to describe its qualitative characteristics in the diagnosis of tinnitus, including monitoring the effectiveness of treatment, which is impossible when using existing score questionnaires. The aim of the work was the translation, adaptation, and validation of the Russian language version of the questionnaire of The European School for Interdisciplinary Tinnitus Research Screening Questionnaire (ESIT-SQ) for the diagnosis of hearing loss in patients of different age groups. After cultural and linguistic adaptation, the ESIT-S was validated by the test-retest method among patients of two groups: Group I – persons with tinnitus and normal hearing (77 people), group II – persons with tinnitus and hearing loss from mild to profound (79 people). The results of the study demonstrated the reliability of the questionnaire, as well as clinical validity in the study groups. The assessment of the qualitative characteristics of hearing using the Russian version of the ESIT-SQ before and after complex treatment of tinnitus confirmed the sensitivity of the questionnaire. Thus, the Russian language version of the ESIT-SQ can be used in the practice of an otorhinolaryngologist as an additional diagnostic tool for subjective ear noise.

The topic on diagnosing intercultural adaptation and psychological acculturation to a new socio-cultural environment is relevant in connection with the processes of globalization and, in particular, with the growth of academic mobility in education. Research on this problem are especially relevant for Russian science due to the lack of acculturation scales, which are widely represented in Western and international psychology. In 2019, a research team led by Professor A. Ardila developed the Russian-language Acculturation Scale for Russia (ASR), which was validated on a sample of international university students from 71 countries of the world. The aim of the present study was to adapt the ASR for the Chinese students studying in Russian universities. Chinese students are the largest group of international students from far abroad studying at Russian universities, while many of them experience significant difficulties in adapting to a new socio-cultural environment, as well as in learning the Russian language. In total, the study involved 213 Chinese students (59% - female) studying at Russian universities, of which 93 students (58% - female) completed the Russian-language version of the ASR, and 118 students (61% - female) completed the Chinese version of the ASR, which was designed using the back translation. Both ASR versions were psychometrically tested using Cronbachs and MacDonalds coefficients, as well as bifactorial analysis. The methods of descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon W-test were used to compare the Russian-language and Chinese versions of the ASR. The normalization was carried out by means of non-linear percentile normalization (stanines). As a result, a high consistency of the Russian-language and Chinese versions of the ASR and their equivalence with each other were shown. Both versions can be used to assess the level of acculturation of Chinese students to Russia, while the Chinese version is recommended for the Chinese students who have been living in Russia for less than 1-1.5 years and/or have a poor Russian proficiency.

The Assessment of Spondyloarthritis International Society (ASAS) Health Index (HI) is a comprehensive tool for quantifying the health of patients with axial (ax) spondyloarthritis (SpA), including ankylosing spondylitis (AS). ASAS HI was developed on the basis of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health (ICF). The questionnaire contains 17 questions, each of which is associated with a specific ICF pool (pain, emotions, sleep, sexual function, ambulation, self-care, and communication).Objective: to study the psychometric properties of the Russian-language version of ASAS HI.Subjects and methods. Examinations were made in 245 patients older than 18 years with axSpA or peripheral SpA, who met the ASAS criteria. The main psychometric properties of a questionnaire, such as validity, reliability (reproducibility), and sensitivity, were evaluated. SpA activity was assessed using the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) and the Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Score (ASDAS); the functional status of the patients was estimated by the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Functional Index (BASFI), and their spinal mobility was evaluated by the Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Metrology Index (BASMI). The short-form 36 (SF-36) health questionnaire and the 5-dimensional EQ-5D version (EuroQoL) were used to assess quality of life in SpA patients. Patient satisfaction with their health status was estimated using the patient acceptable symptom state (PASS) index.Results and discussion. The median age of the patients enrolled in the investigation was 39.5 [28.00; 48.00] years; disease duration – 102.5 [23.0; 196.5] months; there were 64.58% of men were and 78% of HLA-B27 positive patients. The median scores were for: BASDAI, 5.40 [3.20; 6.80]; ASDAS, 3.19 [2.55; 4.15]; BASFI, 5.60 [2.60; 7.50]; BASMI, 4.20 [3.00; 6.60]; ASAS HI, 9.00 [7.00; 12.00]; ASAS EF Items Set, 4.00 [3.00; 7.00]. There were statistically significant relationships between ASAS HI scores and C-reactive protein levels (Spearman correlation coefficient r=0.56), BASDAI (r=0.62), BASFI (r=0.67), ASDAS (r=0.38), BASMI (r=0.46), and patient's global assessment on a visual analogue scale (VAS) (r=0.49; p<0.05 for all measures). The ASAS EF Items Set scores correlated with the main clinical characteristics of the patients. There were statistically significant relationships between the ASAS HI/EF Items Set scores and the latter of eight SF-36 scales and the EQ-5D ques tionnaire. Statistically significant differences in ASAS HI scores were found in patients with positive and negative PASS indices (the median value of ASAS HI was 6.89 [3.00; 10.00] and 9.20 [7.00; 12.00], respectively; p=0.000086). Cronbach's internal consistency for ASAS HI was 0.988. There were statistically significant differences in ASAS HI scores before and after treatment (9 [7; 12] and 6 [3; 10], respectively; p=0.00025).Conclusion. This study confirmed validity, reproducibility, and sensitivity to changes of the Russian-language version of ASAS HI for patients in the Russian Federation.

Aim. To assess the validity and reliability of the Russian-language version of The SelfCare of Heart Failure Index (SCHFI, version 6.2) in patients with heart failure (HF).Material and methods. The translation of the SCHFI (version 6.2) into Russian was performed according to the Brislin’s model. The Russian version of the SCHFI was tested in 128 patients with NYHA class II-IV HF (mean age 63,6Ѓ}8,8 years, 70,3% men). The Cronbach’s alpha, test-retest reliability, construct (confirmatory factor analysis) and concurrent (comparison of the SCHFI and European Heart Failure Self-Care Behavior Scale (EHFScBS_9) results) validities were determined.Results. The Cronbach’s alpha for the SCHFI scale was 0,74 and characterized sufficient level of test reliability. The test-retest reliability (estimated after 3 months of observation) was 0,81 (p<0,01), which also indicates a sufficient level of reliability. The baseline level of selfcare ability in HF patients according to SCHFI was 136,8Ѓ}40,6 points. The factor analysis confirmed the expediency of dividing the SCHFI into 3 sections: A — self-care maintenance, B — self-care management, C — self-care confidence. Analysis of the concurrent validity of the SCHFI and EHFScBS_9 revealed an inverse correlation between both scales.Conclusion. The Russian-language version of The Self-Care of Heart Failure Index (version 6.2) is a simple and effective tool for assessing self-care ability in HF patients, and can be used both in clinical trials and in actual clinical practice.
