Ecological assessment of plant habitats in the territory of the upper basin of the Prut River was carried out using synphytoindication analysis of 2386 vegetation plots. This provided an opportunity to supplement the assessment of habitat conditions for 84 species of vascular plants listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine. The conducted phytoindication assessment allowed to update and clarify information on the ranges of ecological amplitude for 55 species from the Red Data Book of Ukraine as well as to calculate indicators values for Crepis jacquinii for the first time. Based on the results of phytoindication assessment made for 49 species, the maximum ecological values (for 37 species) and minimum ecological values (for 38 species) were specified. Complete information on 12 environmental factors was obtained for habitats of 55 species, or 9% of species of vascular plants in the Red Data Book of Ukraine. A degree of possible threat to plant habitats is calculated, i.e. their reduction and loss due to increase in average annual temperature by 1, 2 and 3 °C. With the increase in temperature by 3 °C, the risk of habitat loss can reach 30% and only 3.5% of habitats remain out of danger, which indicates the catastrophic state of the studied habitats. At the same time, rising temperature can significantly affect the edaphic properties of the soil, in particular, the acidity regime; such indirect climate effects can be more significant for ecosystems than the direct ones. The obtained data indicate the risk of loss of species habitats, and subsequent result depends on further realization of species potential. Three options of the realization are possible: reduction and extinction, migration to other areas or landscape elements, and enhancing adaptive capacity of species. Results of ecological assessment of plant species and forecasting possible changes in their habitats based on synphytoindication methodology demonstrated the effectiveness and wide range of use of this methodology.

The paper provides brief information on the formation of the list of vascular plant species that need protection in the Jewish Autonomous Region. The author also reports about the current species composition in the regional Red Data Book. It is for the first time that a distribution and concentration of rare plant species in the region have been analyzed. It is revealed that the maximum density of protected plants is observed in the southern part of the Pompeevsky ridge, and among the administrative areas – in the Oktyabrsky district.

On the base of research florochorology, studing the main herbarion collections (LW, LWKS, LWS) and analisis the literature the checklist of the spontaneous vascular plants for the territory of the Znesinnya Regional Landscape Park has been compiled. Some 727 species from 392 genera, 108 families, 59 orders, 5 classes and 4 divisions are presented from the investigated area. Among them, the most common part (77.7%) belongs to the representatives of the Magnoliopsida class, while the Liliopsida class of representations is significantly less (19.3%). With a wide range of disputes, coniferous trees are stocked less than 3.0% of all types. The species distribution to the leading families and genera have been analysed. For the first time were recorded the present habitats of 30 rare species (15 from the Red Data Book of Ukraine, аnd 15 species are rare in the region). The locations of the rare species with state sozological status (Dactylorhiza incarnata (L.) Soó, Epipactis palustris (L.) Crantz, Listera ovata (L.) R.Br., Lilium martagon L., Orchis militaris L.) were offered for the first time. Two species from addition of the First Bern Convention (Cypripedium calceolus and Pulsatilla grandis) are disappeared on the territory of the park.

The article provides information on the results of the study of rare plant species, conducted in the NationalPark "Chikoi". Nineteen rare plant species included into the Red Data Book of Trans-Baikal Territory (2017) have beenfound. Three species of plants from Orchidaceae family (Cypripedium macranthon, Cypripedium calceolus, Neottiantecucullata) are included into Red Data Book of the Russian Federation (2008). It was a new occurrence of four species(Gagea hiensis, Phyllodoce cоеrulea, Rhodiola quadrifida, Rhodiola pinnatifida) among the nineteen rare plant speciesthat have been found on the territory of the National Park "Chikoi".

The large-antlered, or giant, muntjac Megamuntiacus vuquangensis wasdescribed from Vietnam in 1994 and found concurrently in the Annamite Mountains and nearby hill ranges of central and southern Laos. The northerly and southerly range limits are still unknown. It may occupy a wide range of habitats and is found sympatrically with the common muntjac Muntiacus muntjak. Another muntjac species, the taxonomic affinity of which is as yet undetermined, was recently discovered to occur within its range. The large-antlered muntjac is probably not threatened with extinction in the near future, but in view of its restricted range and threats from habitat degradation and hunting, it should be classified as Vulnerable in the Red Data Book. Its future in Laos is largely dependent on the recently created protected-areas system to maintain large tracts of habitat and reduce hunting pressure.

Abstract Biodiverse Cameroon has been highlighted as the top country in tropical Africa for plant species diversity per degree square, with a higher diversity than all other West African countries added together, and including two of the top documented centres of plant diversity in Tropical Africa. Despite its reduced taxonomic capacity, with only six active taxonomists a high level of botanical activity in the country has resulted in accomplishments such as the databasing of the YA Herbarium (over 60,000 records), which has an in-country collection coverage of almost 95% of the known plant species that are recorded for Cameroon. Other accomplishments are the Red Data Book of the Flowering Plants of Cameroon, several local checklists and published volumes of the Flore du Cameroun which covers 37% of the country's species. Currently the checklist of Cameroon records 7,850 taxa at species and infraspecific level. Resources are needed to support and heighten the profile of this small botanical community. Already thanks to strong collaboration between Cameroon and renowned botanical institutes of others countries, in particular France and United Kingdom, one hundred and thirteen plant families have been published and would help this country to complete the recording of its biodiversity towards contributing to the World Flora Online 2020 project.

In the beautifully-illustrated book of rare and threatened plants of Greece (Phitos et al. 1995), the selection of species is based strictly on the four World Conservation Union (IUCN) categories of ‘extinct’, ‘endangered’, ‘vulnerable’ and ‘rare’ (Lucas & Synge 1978). The Swedish ‘red data’ book of plants (Aronsson et al. 1995) adds ‘care-demanding species’ to the list. Five percent of the total number of vascular plant species in Greece are included in the Greek book, while 23% of the vascular plant species in Sweden are in the Swedish book. This latter percentage may appear to be sufficiently large, but is it?

Pollination facilitation can occur when plant species share pollinators. Whether facilitation occurs depends on the flowering period overlap (synchrony), number of shared insect visitors (similarity), quantity and quality of insect visits, and the subsequent impact on seed production. Western Silvery Aster (Symphyotrichum sericeum (Vent.) G.L. Nesom) is a rare, self-incompatible plant visited by a wide range of generalist insect species. There are 22 common plant species that may facilitate insect visitation to the rare plant by supporting shared pollinators. Plant species with low synchrony and high similarity with S. sericeum are potential facilitators. In contrast, plant species with high synchrony and similarity likely act as competitors as the aggregative response to increasing plant density was saturating, suggesting that synchronously flowering species do not increase insect visitations. Hymenoptera responded more strongly than Diptera to increases in flowering stem density. These data suggest that facilitation of insect visitation between plant species via a numerical response that extends the flower season is possible but not likely via an aggregative response. Restoration of S. sericeum may therefore be more successful if potentially facilitating plants are grown with it; further testing of the impact of potential facilitators on seed production in S. sericeum is required.

The article provides information on the distribution of vascular plant species included in the Red Data Book of the Russian Federation (Krasnaia…, 2008) on the territory of the National Park «Orlovskoe Polesye» (Oryol Region, Russia) and a list of flora objects included in the Red Data Book of the Oryol Region and excluded from it (Perechen’…, 2020), on the basis of which a new edition of the regional Red Data Book is being prepared. The list of species is compiled in alphabetical order based on the author’s personal observations on the territory of the national park, analysis of available literature and herbarium collections. For each species, information on the occurrence and locations in the Park and the Oryol Region is indicated.
