The ecological values or environmental competency development is currently an important topic. Attitude, relationship, love or respect for nature can be identified within several theories by various diagnostic tools, though they might be so general covering a man´s true attitude towards animals. The study discusses the characteristics of the author's questionnaire of human-animal relationship AniRe-Que (15) based on the ecological theory of biocentric egalitarianism covering extraterrestrial beings´ respect and consideration. The Questionnaire of Ecocentric and Anthropocentric Attitudes Towards the Environment (Thompson and Barton 1994) adapted by Siegrist (1996) was used to determine the construct validity of the author's questionnaire. Both tools were used to search for respondents' attitudes towards animals (N=937) in the context of their gender, age, residence, eating habits and worldview. The research study is of correlation-differential study design. The most important findings were that the attitude towards nature expressed in general does not completely coincide with the attitude towards animals leading to the hypothesis not all natural being are treated with equal respect by a man. The self-reported respect for animals was significantly lower than the respect for nature assessed by the ecocentric environmental attitude. The diagnostic tools thematizing only nature in its general (complex, synthesizing) context seem to be not sufficient to determine a respondent's attitude towards animals. A man might protect nature, but s/he can care less about the animals.

Ecological values of landscapes, like; biodiversity, connectivity and resilience capacity provide, biological well-being and cultural and economic development, which all needed for human development and health. As a result of rapid development, unplanned urbanization went against human will and health being, producing novel emerging diseases. For identifying the relationship between anthropogenic environmental changes and emerging diseases, the present study has considered the impact of ecological disconnectivity on environmental health and global emerging diseases.

Krisis ekologi sudah sangat mengancam kehidupan. Berbagai bencana dan penderitaan melanda dunia. Namun, krisis ekologi masih terjadi. Various disasters and suffering have hit the world. However, the ecological crisis is still occurring. Therefore, the ecological crisis must be overcome in various ways. One way that can be done is to explore the potential of local wisdom in the local area. This paper aims to show that the nahunan ritual, which is usually carried out by the Ngaju Dayak tribe, is not just a routine ceremony. However, ecological values can make people aware, especially the Ngaju Dayak people, that they must be involved in overcoming the ecological crisis. This paper uses a qualitative literature method to explore various relevant sources to discuss the topic and obtain the data needed. Then, the internalization of the values contained in the nahunan ritual will be explored. In the nahunan ritual, ecological values are found, which indicate an internalization of the concept of nature as family and can be encouraged through environmental preservation in the nahunan ritual of the Ngaju Dayak Tribe. This concept can be developed to encourage public awareness of preserving the environment. The concept is expressed in the form of values that involve nature as a family for humans.

Humans categorize unwanted sounds in the environment as noise. Consequently, noise is associated with negative human and ecological values, especially when it is derived from an anthropogenic source. Although evidence confirms that many machine-generated anthropogenic sounds have negative impacts on animal behavior and communication, natural sources of non-biological sound, such as wind, rain, running water, and sea waves (geophonies) have also been categorized as noise and are frequently dismissed or mischaracterized in acoustic studies as an outside factor of acoustic habitats rather than an integrated sonic component of ecological processes and species adaptations. While the proliferation of machine-generated sound in the Biosphere has become an intrusive phenomenon in recent history, geophony has shaped the Earth’s sonic landscapes for billions of years. Therefore, geophonies have very important sonic implications to the evolution and adaptation of soniferous species, forming essential ecological and semiotical relationships. This creates a need to distinguish geophonies from machine-generated sounds and how species respond to each accordingly, especially given their acoustic similarities in the frequency spectrum. Here, we introduce concepts and terminology that address these differences in the context of ecoacoustics. We also discuss how Acoustic Complexity Indices (ACIs) can offer new possibilities to quantifiably evaluate geophony in relation to their sonic contest.

The aim of this article is to analyze one of the most outstanding works of Buryat didactic literature – The Mirror of Wisdom by Erdeni Khaibzun Galshiev (1855 – 26 June (9 July) 1915) and to identify the Buddhist ecological values in it. We argue that in the modern context of global environmental awareness as well as local ecological problems in the Baikal region, Russia, The Mirror of Wisdom, and its described practices for laymen have become extremely significant and can serve as the guideline for sustainable living. We start with the overview of the historical background of Buddhism on the territory of the republic of Buryatia, Russia, go on with the general structure of The Mirror of Wisdom by Erdeni Galshiev, and proceed to the analysis of ecological values, such as non-harming to other creatures, the law of karma, non-attachment, and so on. The analysis shows that although written a century ago and not aimed initially to bring together the inter-related issues of population, consumption and the environment, The Mirror of Wisdom suggests certain conclusions concerning these issues and can contribute to ecological sustainability as well as economic and social justice.

Abstract Geodiversity is considered as abiotic diversity, and it is the foundation of geopark, geotourism and geoconservation. Yunnan Province is the typical area abundant in geodiversity in China. Geodiversity of Yuanmou Basin, which is located in North Yunnan, possesses scientific, cultural, aesthetical, ecological values. Howerver, there are some problems, such as underexploitation, inadequate protection, even destruction in the area. Research of geodiversity will provide a new idea for sustainable development in Yuanmou Basin.
