THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC LITERACY RESEARCH IN PHYSICS LEARNING IN INDONESIAAbstractScientific literacy is one topic that is starting to get much attention in the academic field. Mastering the ability of scientific literacy is essential for everyone to solve problems. Scientific literacy in physics is very important for life in the era of science and technology. This study aims to provide an overview of research related to scientific literacy in learning physics in Indonesia. This study is to determine the distribution and description of scientific literacy research that has been done so that it is expected to provide direction in conducting further research, improvement, and policy. This research used a descriptive content analysis study method. The instrument used the adopted Paper Classification Form or PCF by Kizilaslan et al. Analysis was carried out on 59 articles relating to the scientific literacy in physics published in 2012-2019. Scientific literacy research in physics in Indonesia continues to increase until its peak in 2018, dominated by topics research in media development, teaching materials, or other learning components that aim to develop student scientific literacy. High school students become a sample that is often used in research, with most using a sample size of 51-100. Types of quantitative research methods and test instruments become more dominant than others. The definition of scientific literacy that is widely used in physics education research in Indonesia is the definition of scientific literacy by PISA.

Scientific literacy has become a trend of research in various international research journals. These research trends also influence research trends in Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to analyze research related to scientific literacy in Indonesia based on articles published in various national journals. The analysis was conducted in term of methodological approach used and the subjects studied. The analysis was conducted on 138 articles published in various national journals, whether they have been indexed by SCOPUS, DOAJ or other journal indexing agencies. The findings indicate that the application of learning to increase student’s scientific literacy is new research trend in Indonesia and commonly conducted in science major (IPA) with Junior High School students as samples. This study provides an overview of perspectives in scientific literacy research in Indonesia.

The domain of motion or kinematics is important because it forms the basis of mechanics, an important branch of physics. By studying kinematic phenomena in the laboratory, high school students are likely to develop a better understanding of kinematics concepts as well as elements of the scientific approach to study natural and constructed phenomena. However, students encounter difficulties in understanding these concepts, just as in the acquisition of the skills necessary for the accomplishment of the different stages of an experimental process. Therefore, the purpose of this research was to provide guidance, according to a historical approach, which would inform teachers in the design of teaching sequences on the study of kinematics. Keywords: conceptual understanding, high school physics education, historical approach, kinematics.

The emergence of Differential Item Functioning (DIF) indicates an external bias in an item. This study aims to identify items at scientific literacy skills with integrated science (SLiSIS) test that experience DIF based on gender. Moreover, it is analyzed the emergence of DIF, especially related to the test construct measured, and concluded on how far the validity of the SLiSIS test from the construct validity of consequential type. The study was conducted with a quantitative approach by using a survey or non-experimental methods. The samples of this study were the responses of the SLiSIS test taken from 310 eleventh-grade high school students in the science program from SMA 2 and SMA 3 Tegal. The DIF analysis technique used Wald Test with the Rasch model. From the findings, eight items contained DIF in a 95 % level of trust. In 99 % level of trust, three items contained DIF, items 1, 6, and 38 or 7%. The DIF is caused by differences in test-takers ability following the measured construct, so it is not a test bias. Thus, the emergence of DIF on SLiSIS test items does not threaten the construct validity of the consequential type.

The purpose of thiis research is to develop multimedia with the STEM approach to stimulate HOTS on bioenergy and wind energy materials. The research and development (R&D) method uses the ADDIE design which consists of 5 step, namely: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. This article will only report the first two stages namely analysis and design. The instrument used was a product needs analysis questionnaire and a practitioner validation sheet using a Likert scale. The data source of the needs analysis phase is high school students and physics teachers in Lampung Province. Product design validation was carried out by professional physics-teacher teachers with a Masters in Physics Education qualification. Where data is collected via Google Form and analyzed using descriptive qualitative. The results showed that multimeEdia to stimulate HOTS on bioenergy and wind energy was needed in the field. Multimedia which has the potential to stimulate HOTS on bioenergy and wind energy materials consists of videos and simulation of bioenergy and wind energy plants that contain all STEM.

The definition of environment, which disregard the changes resulting from historical progressive rupture of man in relation to his surroundings, is one of the conceptual errors that hinder the understanding and solution of environmental problems of the present. Such difficulties are deepened by the extreme specialization of knowledge that undermined the understanding of environmental problems, making critical analysis urgent and able to integrate different areas of knowledge. Science and technology fairs can be seen as important initiatives to this integration. Thus, this study aimed to verify the perception of students participating in Febrace (Brazilian Science and Engineering Fair) in relation to the environment and the impacts of this fair in raising awareness about that issue. This is a quali-quantitative research based on bibliographic and documentary surveys and interviews with primary and secondary students who were responsible for the projects presented in that fair. The results showed that the majority of respondents (over 74%) have a more elaborate and globalizing vision of the concept of environment. It was also found that, in general, interviewed students could observe positive influences of the fair on their environmental perception and felt more interested and motivated to understand and discuss environmental problems.
