AbstractHigh-speed single-mode fiber-optic communication systems have been presented based on various hybrid multiplexing schemes. Refractive index step and silica-doped germanium percentage parameters are also preserved during their technological boundaries of attention. It is noticed that the connect design parameters suffer more nonlinearity with the number of connects. Two different propagation techniques have been used to investigate the transmitted data rates as a criterion to enhance system performance. The first technique is soliton propagation, where the control parameters lead to equilibrium between the pulse spreading due to dispersion and the pulse shrinking because of nonlinearity. The second technique is the MTDM technique where the parameters are adjusted to lead to minimum dispersion. Two cases are investigated: no dispersion cancellation and dispersion cancellation. The investigations are conducted over an enormous range of the set of control parameters. Thermal effects are considered through three basic quantities, namely the transmission data rates, the dispersion characteristics, and the spectral losses.

With the popularity of location-based services, Web contents are being geo-tagged and spatial keyword queries that retrieve objects satisfying both spatial and keyword conditions are gaining in prevalence. The existing spatial keyword queries focus on exact match or prefix match of the keywords cannot satisfy the demand of wildcard based imprecise match in many realistic scenes. Aiming to solve this problem, two methods which are fit for different situation are put forward: the inverted file and R-tree integrated index which fits for the situation that requires high time efficiency and the Prefix Bloom Filter and R-tree integrated index which fits for the situation requiring high space efficiency. The effectiveness of the two indexes is valid through experiments.

The rapid development of technology has deeply affected labour relationships. With the increasing technological developments, traditional mobbing, which is an important problem in labour relations, has started to leave its place to digital mobbing practices today. The biggest difference of digital mobbing from traditional mobbing is that the electronic devices used, eliminate the time and space factor. In this study, the effects of digital mobbing practices applied to employees in workplaces were examined through the example of private school teachers. The reason for choosing private school teachers is that the education sector is the sector where mobbing is encountered intensely. Teachers working in private schools in Elazig province constituted the population of the study. Semi-structured interview form, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. Interview forms were evaluated with content analysis. As a result of the study, it was determined that digital mobbing practices occur in private schools in a multidimensional way and negatively affect labour relationships.

The aim of this paper is to survey the decayed historic areas of Isfahan (DHI) in order to determine the relationship between housing satisfaction and quality of life. The related literature on quality of life was reviewed and WHOQOL-BREF model was selected for measuring the quality of life as a whole; also, 17 indicators depicting the housing domain of quality of life were chosen for the purposes of this study. A multi-stage sampling technique was applied to data collection. For data analysis, firstly, the data obtained on 17 indicators of housing domain of quality of life were analysed using factor analysis. The factors extracted are housing quality, housing space, security of tenure and housing affiliation. Secondly, a path diagram was applied to obtain the relation between housing satisfaction sub-domains and the domains of quality of life as a whole. The results indicate that the housing space was the most effective sub-domain of housing on the domains of quality of life as a whole. We also found that in order to improve the housing domain of quality of life in the DHI, due attention should be paid to housing quality factor and to improve quality of life as a whole in these areas, it is also necessary to pay attention to housing space factor.

The High Current Experiment (HCX) is being assembled at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory as part of the U.S. program to explore heavy ion beam transport at a scale representative of the low-energy end of an induction linac driver for fusion energy production. The primary mission of this experiment is to investigate aperture fill factors acceptable for the transport of space-charge dominated heavy ion beams at high space-charge intensity (line-charge density ∼ 0.2 μC/m) over long pulse durations (>4 μs). This machine will test transport issues at a driver-relevant scale resulting from nonlinear space-charge effects and collective modes, beam centroid alignment and beam steering, matching, image charges, halo, lost-particle induced electron effects, and longitudinal bunch control. We present the first experimental results carried out with the coasting K+ ion beam transported through the first 10 electrostatic transport quadrupoles and associated diagnostics. Later phases of the experiment will include more electrostatic lattice periods to allow more sensitive tests of emittance growth, and also magnetic quadrupoles to explore similar issues in magnetic channels with a full driver scale beam.
