The state of paleontological study of the Kuyalnik deposits of Odessa region,   in particular the stratotype section near Kryzhanivka village was analyzed. Attention is paid to the absence of the palynological description of the Krizhanivka climatolith in the section and the insufficient palynological study of the liman-marine Kuyalnik sediments. The goal of the presented research was to obtain a detailed palynological description of the subaerial Eopleistocene and the liman- marine Kuyalnik sediments of the stratotype section near Kryzhanivka village. Based on the results of the research, the palynological description of rocks of the upper part of the section of the liman-marine Kuyalnik sediments is presented for the first time, as well as the materials to substantiate the correlation of the studied sediments with the Beregove and Siversk climatolyths of the continental Upper Cenozoic section of Ukraine, which correspond to the Gelasian of the International Stratigraphic Scale (ISS). For the first time, palynological description of the Kryzhanivka climatolith correlated with the Calabriane of the ISS is presented for the studied section. Three subcomplexes are described in the composition of the Kryzhanivka complex. The characteristic features of the Kryzhanivka spore-pollen complex (SPC) and the changes in the ecological structure of each subcomplex are determined. Correlation of the established complex with the even-aged SPC of the Kryzhanivka deposits of the southern part of the Ukrainian Shield (the Eastern Azov Sea region). Outstanding questions of stratigraphic division of different facial deposits of the section based on palynological data are outlined. The necessity of further palynological studies of deposits of the section near Kryzhanivka village is substantiated.

Composition of granites, genetically associated pegmatites and superimposed metasomatites distributed within Shpoliano-Tashlyk ore area (Ingul megablock) is considered. It is established, that on the basis of similarity in their petrographic and petrochemical features granitoids of the area can be related to single complex. Features of ore mineralization are defined by both composition of granitoids (Sgranites) after which rare-metal pegmatites are formed and intensity of superimposed metasomatic alterations. Main minerals-concentrators of Ta and Nb mineralization in granitic pegmatites and metasomatites are represented by minerals of three isomorphic series – columbite-tantalite (Fe,Mn)(Nb,Ta,Ti)2O6, ilmenorutile-struverite (Ti,Nb,Ta)O2 and pyrochlore-microlite (Ca,Na)2Ta2O6(O,B,OH,F). Depending on geological setting such ore minerals as tapiolite, ixiolite, cassiterite, uraninite, nigerite, gahnite are commonly found in association with these minerals. Chemical composion of tantalo-niobates sampled from ore-bearing pegmatites and metasomatites is investigated by microprobe analysis. Most minerals of columbite-tantalite series are characterized by distinct and rhythmic internal zonality and contrasting mosaic structure which are related to considerable heterogeneities of their chemical composition. Within one aggregate mineral phases with wide range of values – from 9,80 to 71,0 % for Ta2O5 and from 10,6 to 70,1 % for Nb2O5 – are established. Among minerals ferruginous varieties which composition relates to Fe-columbite-tantalites (Nb2O5/Ta2O5 = 1–1,2; FeO/MnO = 2,5–6) prevail. Columbite-tantalites are characterised by high contents of admixture elements present (%): TiO2 – to 5,88; WO3 – to 3,70; SnO2 – to 9,20; Sc2O3 – to 5,40. Scandium ores occur as scandium-rich minerals that are mostly confined to the minerals of columbite-tantalite series found in Polohivka ore field. On the Ukrainian Shield high contents of Sc2O3 in tantalo-niobates are established for the first time. Minerals of ilmenorutile-struverite series do not quantitatively yield to minerals of columbite-tantalite series. For minerals of this series Nb2O5/Ta2O5 ratio varies in the range of 0,6-1,4. Among characteristic admixture-elements are prevailed (%): SnO2 – to 3,1, V2O5 – to 5,05; FeO – to 11,51, Cr2O3 – to 1,20. Minerals of pyrochlore-microlite series are of subordinate importance. For the first time by results of U-Pb dating of columbite-tantalites from Mostove ore manifestation (Shpoliano-Tashlyk area) the age of Ta-Nb mineralization is established to be about 1965 ± 25 million years.

Abstract Pollen grains of 10 species of Pedicularis occurring in Ukraine were investigated using light and scanning electron microscopy. Palynological data on 6 species are reported for the first time. General pollen morphology of the genus Pedicularis is presented. Three types of apertures (2-syncolpate, 3-colpate, and 3-syncolpate) and seven subtypes of sculpture (3-syncolpate pilate, 3-syncolpate microscabrate-tubeculate, 2-syncolpate microscabrate, 2-syncolpate microscabrate-tubeculate, 2-syncolpate microscabrate-tubeculate-perforate, 2-syncolpate microfoveolate, and 2-syncolpate microscabrate-perforate) are indentified. The subgenus Pedicularis is heterogeneous in its types of apertures and sculpture of the surface, which indicates the need of further taxonomic revision of the group.

The results of the biostratigraphic study based on the radiolarian analysis of the rhythmically layered terrigenous deposits from the Islands of the Rimsky-Korsakov Archipelago (Peter the Great Bay, Japan Sea) have been presented. These deposits are most similar to the medium-grained turbidites. For the first time the distribution and stratigraphic division of the boundary sediments of the upper Triassic and lower Jurassic separated by a marking layer were substantiated in the research area. On the basis of comparisons with isochronous zonal units of the Pacific and Tethyan areas in the upper Triassic sediments of the studied sections, layers with Globolaxtorum tozeri (upper Rhaetian) were established, and in the lower Jurassic zone Pantanellium tanuense Zone (Hettangian) was traced and layers with Parahsuum simplum (Sinemurian – Pliensbachian) were established.

The article analyzes the musical language of the opera Kerem by A. Adnan Saygun. Ahmet Adnan Saygun was born during the Ottoman period and lived in the newly created Republic of Turkey. Saygun is one of the founders of the Turkish School of Composing, as well as one of the founders of the Turkish Five. The composer paid great attention to folk art and national values. You can always see folk music and folklore in his works. The purpose of the research is to analyze Sufi motives in the scenes of the opera. Mainly, the attention is paid to musical drama and harmonic aspects of the opera, which directly reflect Turkish folklore and musical culture in general. The research methodology lies in solving a scientific and theoretical problem. A number of theoretical and analytical methods have been applied, highlighting the principle of using a literary text in musical scenes that contain phrases that reflect “reunification with the Creator” in Sufism. The use of characteristic rhythmic patterns in mystical scenes, when searching for information, the methods of the axiological concept of culture were used, which made it possible to highlight the characteristic features of Turkish music. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the fact that for the first time the reflection of religious characteristics based on folk music, in particular, based on modal structures and maqams, analysis of the mystical motives of the opera, in combination with modern musical techniques is considered. Conclusions. Saigun’s opera Kerem is one of the rare works based on Sufi philosophy. A clear reflection of the main thought of Sufi philosophy was noted in Kerem, according to which the suffering of the seeker of truth is marked by a return to it. The way of light is the way of Allah. The composer, to show the unique colour and character of Anatolia, the life and customs of people, used the fret and rhythmic structure characteristic of Turkish music. As a result of the study, we see how in Kerem the author enthusiastically and passionately works on national values in all aspects of the opera.

The characteristic features of I. Kavaleridze’s drama is considered in the article. It is noted that there are signs of the artist’s individuality, attraction to expressionist forms, artistic techniques characteristic for the art of sculpture: symbolism, monumentality, hyperbole. I. Kavaleridze was well versed in the drama laws, understood the specifics of the stage events construction, had a large arsenal of literary means, thanks to which the characters’ monologues and dialogues were extremely expressive and colorful. In his work, he implemented original solutions that were ahead of time. Therefore, many of the artist’s ideas and achievements received due recognition only after his death. I. Kavaleridze’s creative heritage covers a wide range of both purely artistic and general philosophical problems. Among them the formation of the era of modernism and its features in the Ukrainian art of the early XX century, the impact of revolutionary ideas on the work of the 1920s, the role of spiritual leaders of the Ukrainian people T. Shevchenko and G. Skovoroda in the formation of national consciousness, political and ideological pressure on figurative art language and the formation of a socialist-realist canon, etc. The analysis of the productions of I. Kavalerizde’s plays “The First Furrow” and “Gregory and Paraskeva” on the stage of the Mykhailo Shchepkin Sumy Theater of Drama and Musical Comedy in 1970-1972. The article notes that these plays were staged in Sumy for the first time in the history of Ukrainian theater. The premiere of “The First Furrow” (the play was called “Old Men”) took place on March 19, 1970. The figure of the national genius Hryhoriy Skov oroda was als o embodied for the first time on t he stage in Sumy in th e play “Hryhoriy and Paraskeva”. It premiered on October 21, 1972. I. Rybchynsky, Honored Artist of the USSR, performed the production. Creating generalized historical outlines of people’s life, features of life at that time, depicting psychological portraits of people in various, sometimes-dramatic collisions, in the productions of I. Kavaleridze’s plays on the Sumy stage the emphasis was on universal values such as virtue, love. The main character was the Ukrainian people, who nurtured such large-scale historical figures, gave them strength and wisdom for great achievements. Based on publications in periodicals of that time, memoirs of Ukrainian directors, the peculiarities of the director’s interpretation, stenographic and musical design of these plays on the Sumy stage are considered. Considerable attention is paid to the analysis of acting works in I. Kavaleridze’s plays. In particular, the peculiarities of the actor’s embodiment of the image of the national genius Hryhoriy Skovoroda on the stage are presented. It is noted that I. Kavaleridze’s plays, created in a difficult political, social and ideological context, are rightly considered to be highly artistic works of Ukrainian drama. Their staging was carried out on various theatrical stages, including Mykhailo Shchepkin Sumy Theater of Drama and Musical Comedy is an important page of national theatrical art.

A 23-year-old man presented to us with multiple episodes of visible haematuria associated with dysuria, but no other symptoms suggestive of infection. His physical examination was completely unremarkable. On detailed evaluation of history, it was noted that he was treated for urinary schistosomiasis as a child in Sudan. A diagnostic flexible cystoscopy, with both white light and narrow band imaging (NBI), was done among other tests as a further diagnostic tool to investigate possible causes. This revealed the characteristic features of bladder schistosomiasis. Urine microscopy for Schistosoma haematobium eggs was negative, and this could have caused the diagnosis to be missed. He was treated with praziquantel for chronic bladder schistosomiasis. This is the first time that the use of NBI as an adjunct to white light imaging in the diagnosis of bladder schistosomiasis has been reported.

The subject of this paper seems to be important due to the everincreasing interest in architectural traditions of Russia’s regions. The purpose of the article is to identify the characteristic features of the architecture of modern wooden temples in the territory of The Orenburg province of the 19th century. The key approach I chose for this study was historical architectural analysis and integration of data from archives and field surveys. A novel systematic analysis of the evolution of church design in the region since ancient times till nowadays is offered. For the first time, a study is made of churches building based on ‘model church design projects for Orenburg the Orenburg defence lines’ and exemplary albums. Descriptions and analyses of the region’s lesser known little known specimen of religious architecture are introduced for the scientific use based on the author’s own in situ investigations. Many archival materials from Russia’s central and regional repositories are considered and published at for the first time. Key properties of modern region Eastern Orthodox churches built in different architecture styles are formulated and classified.

Recently, ingots of silicon carbide have been adapted to be sliced by the wire-cut electrical discharge machining. Fast slicing, and the reduction in the loss are important for slicing of the wafer. In this paper, characteristic features of the electric discharge machining in the ion-exchange water and the fluorine-based fluid were compared for these improvement. The discharge was caused by a pulse voltage applied to a ingot of silicon carbide and the wire in machining fluid, and the slicing was proceeded. As a result, improvement of surface roughness and kerf loss was confirmed, for the first time. In addition, the improving methods for fast slicing were considered.

For the first time, the wood anatomy of Tetraclinis articulata (Vahl) Masters has been studied using representative samples from its natural distribution area in Spain, in Sierra de Cartagena (Region of Murcia). Mature wood was collected from five individuals representative of the forest stand and their anatomy was compared with other genera of the Cupressaceae. Axial tracheids without helical thickenings, low homogeneous rays, cupressoid pits and the absence of normal axial resin canals are characteristic features of this monotypic genus, as they are of most other Cupressaceae genera. An obvious warty layer separates this wood from the genera sharing its territory (Cupressus and Juniperus) and its semi-spherical, slightly anastomosed warts distinguish it from other, geographically distant genera (Actinostrobus and Callitris). The presence of traumatic axial resin canals is reported for the first time and supports the occurrence of this feature outside the Pinaceae. The wood anatomical diversity within the clade comprising Tetraclinis, Microbiota and Platycladus, as reconstructed by molecular analysis, is discussed.
