The Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (Federal Rural University of Rio de Janeiro) Botanical Garden (JB/UFRRJ) has a green area occupied mostly by sparsely planted arboreal species, in addition to a small area of regenerating forest and plantations. In consideration of the Brazilian federal rules for botanical gardens, the collection of the Arboretum was studied systematically: collection of complete samples, herborization and identification of the species by accepted botanical methods. The occurrence of native species from different Brazilian phytogeographic domains and common names were verified. A total of 125 species of arboreal Eudicotyledons, belonging to 30 families were registered, of which Fabaceae, Bignoniaceae, Malvaceae, Myrtaceae and Anacardiaceae were the richest ones. Species in danger of extinction and others with biological, ecological or economic value are represented, demonstrating the importance of the area to flora conservation.

Botanical gardens have several aims, among which is to increase awareness of plant diversity, to study it, and to conserve it. The Francisco Javier Clavijero Botanical Garden at the Instituto de Ecología, in Xalapa, Mexico, curates the Mexican national living national bamboo collection. In 2010 a new Otatea species was collected, described and cultivated in the living bamboo collection. Two years after being planted, this bamboo began to flower in the summer of 2012. I decided to visit the type locality and I found the entire population flowering. Based on collected specimens, the synflorescences and spikelets of Otatea ramirezii are described and these structures are compared with those of the known Otatea species described with flowers. The living national bamboo collection of Mexico is important for the preservation of native species and, given that the flowering cycles of most bamboo species are not known, for the documentation of their life cycles.

ANALISIS FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI JUMLAH KUNJUNGAN DAN NILAI EKONOMI KEBUN RAYA BOGORYuzuardi Haban, Rosalina A.M. Koleangan, George M.V. Kata kunci: Penilaian Ekonomi, Travel Cost Method, Tempat Wisata, Surplus KonsumenABSTRACT This study has two objectives, the first objective was to determine the influence of the factors suspected to affect the number of individual visits to the Bogor Botanical Garden by using multiple regression analysis, these factors include travel cost, income, age, education level, perceived quality and substitution effect similar sites. The second objective is to estimate the economic value of the Bogor Botanical Gardens using one of the methods of economic assessment is Travel Cost Method (TCM), a method based on a survey using the cost of traveling to a destination for estimating function will request that location. By applying the demand function in the regression model the relationship between the number of visits and the variables that influence the number of visits can be obtained. This makes the travel cost method allows to estimate the consumer surplus value is used to represent the economic value of the Bogor Botanical Gardens. Abstract. The article presents the results of an experimental assessment of the peculiarities of the water regime of 9 species of the genus Iris L. growing in the South-Ural Botanical Garden-Institute UFRC RAS (I. sibirica L., I. pseudacorus L. ‒ species of native flora, I. aphylla L., I. biglumis Vahl., I. lacteal Pall., I. orientalis Mill., I. ruthenica Ker-Gawl., I. setosa Pall., I. spuria L. ‒ introduced species). The purpose is a comparative evaluation of the main parameters of the water regime within the generic complex and depending on the detection of meteorological factors in different phenological periods. Methods. Studies were performed in growing periods 2019–2020’s physiological using conventional techniques (artificial saturation method and wilting). Made a detailed analysis of daily and seasonal dynamics of the water regime of the three parameters: the total water content, water-holding capacity, water scarcity. Typical forest species Convallaria majalis L. was investigated for a comparative analysis of water regime indicators. Results. The similarities and differences in the peculiarities of the water regime were established between the studied species, the dependence of the indicators on meteorological conditions was revealed. According to the type of water regime cultivars were divided into four groups: a flexible water-quiet mode ‒ I. pseudacorus, flexible water-tight mode ‒ I. sibirica, I. ruthenica, stably-calm water mode ‒ I. aphylla, I. biglumis, I. setosa, stably-tight water mode ‒ I. spuria, I. lactea, I. orientalis. Among the studied parameters of water scarcity was the most dependent on meteorological factors. Scientific novelty. The study helps to identify ecological and physiological adaptations of exotic species in comparison with the native species that could become the basis for assessing the prospects of growing in the culture and conservation of rare and endangered species.
