Planned special events (PSEs) attract more people than usual to specific areas, which leads to increased traffic flows and congestions on the roads. Roadwork zones are among the most vulnerable areas on the roads, where increased traffic can lead to congestion. In roadwork zones, the vehicle flow capacity is already lower than in the conventional situations without roadworks, but at the time of PSEs, these zones become difficult to pass if no attention is paid to the change of the traffic management scheme. This kind of events poses many threats for road authorities, thus, new traffic management systems should be considered. This paper analyzes 2 PSEs and one national celebration in Lithuania and a significant impact they have on the regular traffic flow. PSEs are taken into consideration as they attract traffic to a known place; however, national celebrations distort traffic along all roads and it is not known exactly, which roads will be congested the most. Since roadwork zones cause congestion problems even in conventional situations, this paper presents traffic capacity calculations at these road stretches during PSEs and considers how they change depending on the traffic management scheme.

Present experience shows that it is impossible to solve the problem of traffic congestion without intelligent transport systems. Traffic management in many cities uses the data of detectors installed at controlled intersections. Further, to assess the traffic situation, the data on the traffic flow rate and its concentration are compared. Latest scientific studies propose a transition from spatial to temporal concentration. Therefore, the purpose of this work is to establish the regularities of the influence of traffic flow concentration in time on traffic flow rate at controlled city intersections. The methodological basis of this study was a systemic approach. Theoretical and experimental studies were based on the existing provisions of system analysis, traffic flow theory, experiment planning, impulses, probabilities, and mathematical statistics. Experimental data were obtained and processed using modern equipment and software: Traficam video detectors, SPECTR traffic light controller, Traficam Data Tool, SPECTR 2.0, AutoCad 2017, and STATISTICA 10. In the course of this study, the authors analyzed the dynamics of changes in the level of motorization, the structure of the motor vehicle fleet, and the dynamics of changes in the number of controlled intersections. As a result of theoretical studies, a hypothesis was put forward that the investigated process is described by a two-factor quadratic multiplicative model. Experimental studies determined the parameters of the developed model depending on the directions of traffic flow, and confirmed its adequacy according to Fisher’s criterion with a probability of at least 0.9. The results obtained can be used to control traffic flows at controlled city intersections.

The IEEE 802.1Q-2018 standard embeds in Ethernet bridges novel features that are very important for automated driving, such as the support for time-driven communications. However, cars move in a world where unpredictable events may occur and determine unforeseen situations. To properly react to such situations, the in-car communication system has to support event-driven transmissions with very low and bounded delays. This work provides the performance evaluation of EDSched, a traffic management scheme for IEEE 802.1Q bridges and end nodes that introduces explicit support for event-driven real-time traffic. EDSched works at the MAC layer and builds upon the mechanisms defined in the IEEE 802.1Q-2018 standard.

Abstract: Traffic analysis plays an important role in a transportation system for traffic management. Traffic analysis system using computer vision project paper proposes the video based data for vehicle detection and counting systems based on the computer vision. In most Transportation Systems cameras are installed in fixed locations. Vehicle detection is the most important requirement in traffic analysis part. Vehicle detection, tracking, classification and counting is very useful for people and government for traffic flow, highway monitoring, traffic planning. Vehicle analysis will supply with information about traffic flow, traffic summit times on road. The motivation of visual object detection is to track the vehicle position and then tracking in successive frames is to detect and connect target vehicles for frames. Recognising vehicles in an ongoing video is useful for traffic analysis. Recognizing what kind of vehicle in an ongoing video is helpful for traffic analysing. this system can classify the vehicle into bicycle, bus, truck, car and motorcycle. In this system I have used a video-based vehicle counting method in a highway traffic video capture using cctv camera. Project presents the analysis of tracking-by-detection approach which includes detection by YOLO(You Only Look Once) and tracking by SORT(simple online and realtime tracking) algorithm. A cluster analysis of field observation data was performed using the Statistica 12 software, connections were established in the middle of the data set, and the obtained data were organized into certain structures. As a result of the clustering, groups of clusters that have the greatest impact on speed were identified. Determining the hierarchy of factors influencing the speed and safety of the transport process shall improve approaches for modeling traffic flow velocity dependences. The paper describes an analysis of road safety risk factors.Problem Statement. The need to modernize approaches for traffic flow prediction, traffic volume distribution on the road network, means and methods of traffic management, traffic management systems in connection with quantitative and qualitative changes in the transport sector of Ukraine.Purpose. Road safety risk factors validation and ranking.Materials and method. Mathematical modeling and cluster analysis using survey data.Results. The dependence of speed on road conditions was improved using mathematical modeling.Conclusions. Network multimedia applications constitute a large part of Internet traffic and guaranteed delivery of such traffic is a challenge because of their sensitivity to delay, packet loss and higher bandwidth requirement. The need for guaranteed traffic delivery is exacerbated by the increasing delay experienced by traffic propagating through more than one QoS domain. Hence, there is a need for a flexible and a scalable QoS manager that handles and manages the needs of traffic flows throughout multiple IPv6 domains. The IPv6 QoS manager, presented in this paper, uses a combination of the packets’ flow ID and the source address (Domain Global Identifier (DGI)), to process and reserve resources inside an IPv6 domain. To ensure inter-domain QoS management, the QoS domain manager should also communicate with other QoS domains’ managers to ensure that traffic flows are guaranteed delivery. In this scheme, the IPv6 QoS manager handles QoS requests by either processing them locally if the intended destination is located locally or forwards the request to the neighboring domain’s QoS manager. End-to-end QoS is achieved with an integrated admission and management unit. The feasibility of the proposed QoS management scheme is illustrated for both intra- and inter-domain QoS management. The scalability of the QoS management scheme for inter-domain scenarios is illustrated with simulations for traffic flows propagating through two and three domains. Excellent average end-to-end delay results have been achieved when traffic flow propagates through more than one domain. Simulations show that packets belonging to non-conformant flows experience increased delay, and such packets are degraded to lower priority if they exceed their negotiated traffic flow rates. Many pricing schemes have been proposed for QoS-enabled networks. However, integrated pricing and admission control has not been studied in detail. A dynamic pricing model is integrated with the IPv6 QoS manager to study the effects of increasing traffic flows rates on the increased cost of delivering high priority traffic flows. The pricing agent assigns prices dynamically for each traffic flow accepted by the domain manager. Combining the pricing strategy with the QoS manager allows only higher priority traffic packets that are willing to pay more to be processed during congestion. This approach is flexible and scalable as end-to-end pricing is decoupled from packet forwarding and resource reservation decisions. Simulations show that additional revenue is generated as prices change dynamically according to the network congestion status.

On most freeways, a number of factors interact to produce lane-to-lane variations in speed and volume which are both site and volume dependent. The following paper explores and statistically verifies these variations using detector data and a combination of complementary techniques based on data collected for 30 days at 27 detector stations in May 1994 along the Queen Elizabeth Way freeway near Toronto, Ontario. The analysis indicates that considerable volume dependencies exist at each site, and that these dependencies are site specific. In addition to their independent variations, speed and flow are also shown to interact differently across different lanes and result in different underlying speed-flow relationships. The findings are intended to be relevant to the calibration of microscopic traffic simulation models and automatic incident detection algorithms. As such, the paper does not attempt to specifically identify the underlying causes for the variations, but rather attempts to recognize the aggregated effects of these causes in a fashion that would be useful to real-time freeway traffic management system control strategies relying solely on loop detector inputs.Key words: traffic-flow theory, traffic modeling, traffic simulation, incident-detection algorithms.
