IMPORT SUBSTITUTION IN THE INDUSTRY OF WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION

Import substitution in the industry of water supply and sanitation (WSS) in the context of the current economic crisis is a rather attractive operation. The problem of import substitution in the water supply and sanitation industry is complex being characterized by features such as production conditions, the availability of scientific and technical developments, the intensity of relations with foreign colleagues. Many WSS sector participants focus on implementing measures to reduce their dependence on foreign suppliers and shifting to products of domestic manufacturers within the framework of import substitution. The overall goal of this paper is to assess the feasibility of import substitution in the sector of water supply and sanitation in Russia. In addition, the article offers a choice of equipment in the field of water treatment, which can be produced in Russia in order to create products that are competitive on the world market. This article provides a review and analysis of the nomenclature of the main and auxiliary equipment for the water supply sector. The article offers an overview of patents for useful models in the field of water treatment which are feasible to produce in the domestic industrial market, however, they are currently imported from abroad. The review investigates the extent of import substitution demanded by the industry of water supply and sanitation in Russia. It also describes types of water treatment equipment to be produced in Russia. The structure of the paper is as follows: - the history of the development of water supply and sanitation industry; - the analysis of the current status of water supply and sanitation industry of Russia and review of basic technological equipment for natural water treatment plants and for wastewater treatment; - the review of utility model patents in the field of water treatment; - the conclusion.

The high quality of drinking water is the result of a comprehensive solution to a number of problems, the main of which are the development and implementation of modern water treatment technologies, the use of effective laboratory control mechanisms, optimization of water supply, an integral approach to assessing the quality of drinking water, the use of hygienically sound solutions in terms of water supply and sanitation.

Kitchen Vehicle is an indispensable equipment to guarantee the food in battlefield, which played an important role in series of activities include military exercise, flood-fighting rescue and earthquake relief. Water is a necessity in processing staple and non-staple food in field operations, so there is an urgent need to have one safety water supply device with smaller volume and lighter weight to meet the demands of field kitchen work, therefore, a small vehicular water purifier based on the membrane filtration technology plus activated carbon adsorption and ultraviolet light disinfection technology is developed.

In Nigeria most cities are water stressed, none of the cities are having regular water supply. Quality water for human consumption is a primary duty of the government but they have failed. Also, current cost of boreholes installation has increased beyond their capacity due to Naira devaluation in the world market. Water resources management requires constant monitoring in terms of its qualitative-quantitative values. This study presents potential impact of the Project Evaluation and Review Techniques (PERT) mathematical model software development for the supply of domestic well-water treatment plant. After testing software against the values then, the 37days calculated Expected Time (ET) is unreliable because the risk involved in this project is (100 – 34.23) % = 65.77 %. However, a new completing date can be predicted by PERT mathematical model for supply of domestic well-water treatment plant by varying probability of completion to predict new date of completing the plant. Therefore, concerning this research the Initial probability was moved from 34.23% to 90%. By interpolation with 37 days; the new acceptable date was 97.28 days. The risk involved now (100 – 90) % reduced to 10%, a very good comfortable zone for the project. This information has really helped in two ways: for easy computation and decision making in water supply scheme project. This result is useful in industrialization, individuals, housing estate, small and medium scale industries where quality domestic well-water for crops production is a necessity. Hence, it is recommended that, the developed mathematical models performed 


The current status assessment research of water use and quality of supplied domestic water in Thu Dau Mot city, Binh Duong province, as well as the clean water use situation of the local people. Sampling and assessment of the quality of supplied water at Thu Dau Mot Water supply enterprise. The water treatment process here is strictly conducted to ensure stability, constant pressure, inlet and outlet water flow. The analysis results of physical and chemical parameters of water quality at Thu Dau Mot Water supply enterprise show parameters within the allowable limits of water standards for domestic use QCVN 02: 2009/BYT and domestic water QCVN 01: 2009/BYT. However, during the water treatment process in the rainy season, it is time consuming and costly for the use of many chemicals in the treatment process, as high turbidity and high color temperature, low TDS, low pH, low chloride, high SS, Fe and Mn content changes in the wet season higher than in the dry season. After sampling for analysis and treatment, the output water meets the clean water standard to meet the needs of the people in Thu Dau Mot City and surrounding areas.

Although the water supply and sanitation sector of the state of Karnataka in India has made significant progress in terms of area coverage and, to some extent, meeting consumption targets, two tasks, i.e. fulfilling the unmet backlog demand and meeting the water needs of future population, continue to remain as its major challenges. Based on an analysis of the data and information pertaining to the sector during 1999–2001, this paper aims to assess the financial capacity and reform commitment of the state to meet these sectoral challenges successfully. Towards this end, this paper (a) describes the current status and recent performance of the sector, (b) reviews the financial health of the sector including an estimation of the magnitude of budgetary subsidy, (c) discusses the causes for and consequences of subsidy growth; (d) identi.es the issues and strategies for sectoral reforms including an evaluation of some recent reform initiatives and (e) concludes by highlighting the major implications for sectoral policy in the state in particular and India and other developing countries in general.
