Javanese Christianity construction is not only built on the basis of biblical interpretation. Discourse and knowledge contained in literary texts show the existence of acceptance capacity, communication patterns and adjustments to the cultural context, as well as the important role of the agency. Dharmogandul manuscript is a text that is part of the construction of ideas, values, ideas, about Christianity that is understood by Javanese people. This study aims to examine the dynamics of the Dharmogandul fiber texts and discourses with genealogy approaches, connect and compare with the thoughts of Kiai Ibrahim Tunggul Wulung as a real life context, as well as psychological figures that provide worldview to the Christian community in Tegalombo, Pati. Exploring Dharmogandul fiber genealogy shows that the text originated from the concept of religiosity, in the historical development there was a shift in the meaning of Dharmogandul fiber in syncretic direction, until it became attached and became part of the comparison of formalistic religion. The results of the study showed some contradictions and comparisons in accommodating the discourse of meeting several religions in the Dharmogandul fiber with the real conditions of the Tegalombo Christian community. [Kontruksi Kristen Kejawen tidak hanya dibangun atas dasar penafsiran kitabiah. Wacana dan pengetahuan yang termuat dalam teks sastra menunjukkan adanya kapasitas penerimaan, pola komunikasi, dan penyesuaian konteks kultur, serta peran penting agency. Serat Dharmogandul merupakan salah satu teks yang menjadi bagian dari kontruksi ide, nilai dan gagasan mengenai kekristenan yang dipahami masyarakat Jawa.  Penelitian  ini bertujuan  menelaah dinamika teks dan wacana serat Dharmogandul dengan pendekatan geneologi serta menghubungkan dan membandingkannya dengan pemikiran Kiai Ibrahim Tunggul Wulung sebagai real life context, sekaligus figur psikologis yang memberikan worldview terhadap komunitas Kristen di Tegalombo, Pati. Jelajah geneologi serat Dharmogandul menunjukkan bahwa teks berawal dari konsep religiusitas kemudian bergesr ke arah sinkretis lalu menjadi bagian dari perbandingan agama formal. Hasil penelitian menujukkan pertentangan dan perbandingan dalam mengakomodasi wacana perjumpaan beberapa agama dalam serat Dharmogandul dengan kondisi riil komunitas Kristen Tegalombo.]

The paper presents the results of a study of the opinion of the fourth grade primary school students (N=60) from Sombor, Serbia, about the role of the textbook Nature and Society in the adoption of social contents. The aim of the study is to determine students? opinions about how the textbook assists them in adopting social contents and how this knowledge can be useful in the real life context, which can be a relevant starting point for improving the quality of textbooks. Qualitative methodology was used to analyse the obtained data. Focus group discussions pointed to problems about the presentation of social contents in the textbooks: extensive texts that must be memorised; the lack of explanations in the text; insufficient coherence of the text, which is the reason why the adoption of social contents require assistance in the interpretation of the text. Moreover, there is a problem in the relation between the text and visual displays; the examples given do not sound familiar to students, the text is not related to the real life context, which limits the usability of social knowledge adopted from the textbook. The students? answers refer to key standards of the textbook quality (the quality of the contents, the quality of the didactic design, the quality of the language used in the textbook), and indicate that the textbook that students use does not contribute to the process of learning complex social phenomena.

AbstractOur response to the commentators covers four general issues: (1) How useful is our proposed conceptualization of the real-life/laboratory controversy in terms of the contrast between the correspondence and storehouse metaphors? (2) What is the relationship between these two metaphors? (3) What are the unique implications of the correspondence metaphor for memory assessment and theory? (4) What are the nature and role of memory metaphors in memory research? We stress that the correspondence metaphor can be usefully exploited independent of the real-life/laboratory controversy, but that a variety of other metaphors, including the storehouse, should also be utilized in order to more fully capture the myriad facets and functions of memory in everyday life.

As Monika Fludernik (2011) points out, creative metaphors receive less attention than conceptual metaphors in cognitive studies. The complex role of metaphor in literature and its narrative function needs to be further explored. Realistic novellas do not display a predilection towards elaborate creative metaphors. They contain other figures of speech and more conventional figurative forms such as symbols, allegories and similes – the latter to approximate an experience or perception. My hypothesis is, however, that in realistic texts metaphorical agency is often contained and instigated by virtual micronarratives (digression, memory, association, imagination and dream). How does metaphoricity relate to virtual parts of the storyworld? In order to investigate this question I use Wilhelm Raabe’s poetic realist novella Keltische Knochen ( Celtic Bones, published 1864) as a case study. Raabe’s travel account shows how virtual passages can receive and entail a metaphorical dimension. In Raabe’s novella the narrator witness claims that it does not manipulate reality by rhetorical tricks and metaphorical transformations, and therefore makes a clear distinction between the virtual and real parts of the storyworld. At the same time this distinction is undermined because the virtual events interfere with the real events and transform them into metaphorical sequences. The metaphorical sequences open up alternative segments of the storyworld that can be coined as paranarratives. The case study exposes the negotiability and the co-text dependence of literary metaphoricity and contributes to the exploration of the narrative potential of figurativeness in literary texts.

The article analyses the final lines of V. Soloviev’s work “The General Sense of Art,” correlating them with the art tendencies of the modern civilization. The author addresses Soloviev’s idea about the transforming role of art in relation to the reality, the real life. It is stated that, in the modern era, within the commercial mass culture domination, the entertaining function of art comes to the forefront. At the same time, an opposing tendency can be observed: a movement towards the all-encompassing unity, understanding of the universal, the priority of common values (the ideas of ecological ethics, common religion, non-violence). The author indicates that the dialectic negation of the negation law is manifested in the history of art, in the realization of its varied functions.

The article focuses on the image of ground that had various meanings in the human culture from ancient times. On the one hand, it was a place of living that provided people with all means necessary for their physical survival and had an exclusively material value. On the other hand the ground was a part of myth; it was a subject of philosophical (or would-be philosophical) reflections. Step by step, humanity learned to perceive ground from artistic and aesthetic perspectives: as a place that sometimes could be beautiful by itself and sometimes needed to be decorated by people. In the modernity, the ground is more often viewed not only as a surface or a place for artistic work but as an environment or even a material for the latter. Inhabitants tend to decorate not only its aboveground but also its underground surroundings. This tendency has resulted in introduction of the modern high-tech underground buildings and the phenomenon of ecological ground architecture formation. In field of the visual design, the new approach to ground as a material for artistic activity emerged. The article presents a hypothesis that historical traditions contributed to the modern land architecture to a lesser degree. In the past the ground architecture was often awkward, pragmatic, and artistically inconsistent. It was a result of some specific materials, technological and climate conditions which people faced. At the same time, in folklore and fiction literature the aboveground and underground environments, including houses, were often depicted as artistically attractive. Therefore, for modern artists, the popular verbal and visual images of underground buildings serve as a rich source for inspiration in their work on the real-life projects in the field of ground architecture. The names and design features of some projects attest this idea. For instance, the modular “Hobbit House” created by the Green Magic Homes company makes an appeal to the literary works by J. R. R. Tolkien. The links between the modern ground architecture, literary texts and artistic images demonstrate that in the modern world not only the real life influences art, but virtual imaginative worlds begin to form the space of the reality itself.

Random-dot stereograms of an object standing out from a background always contain a monocular region at the side of the foreground object. This is equivalent to the monocularly occluded part of the background in the real-life viewing of one object in front of another. The role of these monocular regions in the stereoscopic process has not been investigated previously, although it is generally assumed that they are a source of difficulty in stereoscopic resolution because of the unmatchable texture within them. The basis of the present study was a prediction that the presence of texture within these regions would facilitate rather than retard stereoscopic processing. This prediction follows from a hypothesis that stereoscopic processing is initially located at disparity discontinuities. Unmatched regions are only found at such discontinuities, and could serve to locate them.

This paper is an analysis of freedom as concept by Paul, in a multicultural perspective and considering its expression as a relationship, in a transcendent dimension. This look is a challenging in any culture and it’s linked to the practice of Christian community with freedom in the Spirit into the real life. Freedom, as an option of Christian life, is in behalf of the community, and ought to be lived with equality and serving to one another, because of the love that is beyond the rules limits and prejudices. People in any culture desire freedom and its expression is by serving because of love, truth that the human person needs and that is independent of race, gender, or even culture, considering that this surpass borders and gives sense to the existence, to a life history.
