Abstract The propose was to seek validity evidences of scales based on the model of reactions of higher education professors about the evaluation of graduate programs conducted by the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (Capes). The scales of satisfaction, justice perception, utility perception, and accuracy perception were applied on 814 higher education professors, being 50.36% males, with a mean age of 47.66 years (SD = 9.34). Exploratory analysis indicated reliability of the four scales (alphas ranged from .69 to .97 and omegas are from .70). These and other psychometric indicators of the scales indicate that the measures are reliable, and the reaction model was confirmed by the strong correlation between the scales.

<p>The present paper explores the extent to and the ways in which European mandates for teacher education for inclusion can inspire post-graduate teacher education for inclusion in the context of Greek higher education. With means of a longitudinal self-study on such a course for language teachers the empowering effects of teacher education for inclusion are identified, barriers to it are looked into and suggestions for improvement, as exemplified by the Greek context, are made. Administrators are an important human resource in Higher Education because they perform various duties that are critical to the daily operations of universities. In light of this, organisational commitment and job satisfaction of administrators are essential for the efficiency and effectiveness of universities. Notwithstanding the critical relevance and necessity of organisational commitment and job satisfaction, there is evidence of paucity of research on these areas among administrative staff in the South African higher education sector. The objective of this study was to examine the relationship between organisational commitment and overall job satisfaction on the organisational commitment of administrators at a university in Gauteng. To achieve the aforementioned objective, a quantitative survey approach was used to examine the relationship between overall job satisfaction and organisational commitment. The selfadministered structured questionnaires were issued to 383 administrative staff members. Descriptive statistics was utilised to assess the levels of both organisational commitment and job satisfaction, results of which revealed that administrators were satisfied with and committed to the university. Spearman’s rho correlation analysis showed that there was a strong correlation between affective commitment and job satisfaction; and moderate correlations between job satisfaction and moral imperative. Similar strong correlation was observed between indebted obligation and job satisfaction. Conversely, a weak correlation occurred between job satisfaction and continuance commitment. Regression coefficients indicated that job satisfaction contributed positively to the prediction of affective commitment, moral imperative, indebted obligation and continuance commitment. Based on these findings, the recommendations and future research opportunities were suggested.

Purpose. Over the past two decades, concerned with how stakeholders perceive the value of their services, universities have adopted entrepreneurial orientations and relationship marketing approaches into their activities. The fierce competition on the global higher education market, forced university managers to innovate, to look for new ways to build their offer. Relationship marketing and the knowledge regarding the stakeholders, primarily the students’ perception of their offerings, can provide universities with a competitive advantage. As such, university managers need to carry out satisfaction surveys, inquiries regarding the universities image or the perceived value of the academic programs and services offered, need to plan and organize offline and online integrated marketing communication campaigns. Methodology/Design/Approach. Based on the resemblance of perceived value with a Rubik's cube, university marketers can constantly innovate through the way they match the various dimensions of perceived value or facets of the cube to meet the stakeholders’ expectations. Result /Findings. This research highlights the dimensions of the perceived value of the educational offer and determines the extent to which factors such as the university image, the source of financing the studies and the duration of the student - university relationship have an influence on the perception of value. For this purpose we conducted a quantitative research on a sample of 320 students from the largest faculty from the West University of Timișoara, Romania. To perform the statistical data analysis, the following steps were carried out: (1) the reliability of the measurement scales analysis; (2) the opportunity to perform the factorial analysis verification; (3) the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis and (4) the research hypotheses testing. Research results showed that the perceived relational value affects the student’s perceptions on the quality of learning, the usefulness and quality of the acquired knowledge, the employment opportunities. The institutional image has a positive influence on the perceived value of the educational offer. For university or faculty managers, it is important to know how to combine the various facets of the perceived value-technical value, relational value, social value, temporal value- in order to provide the value expected by their stakeholders, primarily by students.

ABSTRACT Objective: to discuss the different impacts - technological, political, social and economic - of Graduate Program in Nursing at the Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, problematizing their indicators and their adequacy to the field of Nursing and Health, according to the genesis and nature of Nursing care, the Nursing science and its interfaces with other fields of knowledge. Method: a study conducted in July 2021 based on documentary sources extracted from an institutional form, for evaluating graduates and annual reports of the Program in the period between 2011 and 2020. The documentary data were submitted to descriptive analysis. Results: the technological, political, social and economic impacts and their respective indicators are presented as proposed by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Level Personnel for the evaluation of graduate programs. The evaluation of the impacts of graduate education in Nursing indicated that it represents a challenge to be faced, given the difficulties identifying quantitative and qualitative evidence allowing such verification. Conclusion: important impacts of the Program are evidenced; however, the indicators and respective criteria are questioned regarding the best adequacy and completeness to the field of Nursing and Health, according to the genesis and nature of Nursing care, the Nursing science and interfaces with the other fields of knowledge. Therefore, it is urgent to invest in studies and to propose indicators and criteria to evidence the real impact of the Graduate Programs in Nursing on society.

Advanced degrees are becoming more valuable in the workplace. In turn, institutions of higher education are providing multiple venues for students to obtain advanced degrees. These venues tend to reach a population beyond those who would have attended a traditional brick and mortar institution. This reaches students from a variety of backgrounds, and institutions are trying to adjust and accommodate this newly recruited and diverse population. The expectations of graduate programs have not changed; students are to emerge from these programs with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to partake in research on their own. However, these students are limited on the readiness they possess to conduct graduate research. This in turn results in attrition from the program and leaving behind their opportunity for a graduate degree. This chapter provides an overview of the skills and issues of graduate students and a discussion of how those issues affect students finding success in graduate programs. The chapter concludes with suggestions and recommendations for addressing these issues.


This chapter explains relevant parts of the historical development of American universities. It begins with the development of graduate studies in European institutions and explains selected parts of this history that are relevant to the doctorate in contemporary American universities. Details of the development of American colleges and universities are presented focusing on the nature of the doctoral degrees in American universities, the founding of the American Association of Universities (AAU), and the AAU's influence on the movement towards standardization of the doctorate.

Counseling graduate trainings, in-person discussions, one-on-one supervision, group supervision, and in-person mentoring are key components of clinical trainings. Thus, developing and delivering diverse counseling trainings by utilizing effective synchronous learning cannot be emphasized more in the field of counseling training. The purpose of this chapter is to explore effective, efficient, and achievable synchronous learning methods by analyzing current counseling graduate trainees' practical experiences on synchronous learning. The chapter will discuss diverse synchronous learning tools that counseling graduate programs offer and the effectiveness of these methods as well as the directions and implications for researchers, educators, and counseling practitioners in higher education.

During 18 years of experience in graduate education in the environmental area, the graduate programs in environmental sciences of the University of Taubaté have been consolidating the treatment of environmental issues in different geographic conditions, associated with the development of the metropolitan region of Vale do Paraíba, São Paulo, as well as environmental issues in the Amazon region. This edition of Ambi-Água presents 15 original articles from dissertations presented in the last three years, which reinforce the challenge in the treatment of environmental issues in an interdisciplinary context. The commitment of the PPGCA in the construction of knowledge in the environmental area that must guide the development of this important metropolitan region of the state of São Paulo is well known.
