ln order to study the measles antibody behavior of three vaccination schedules, 684 children were divided into 4 Groups: Group A (341 vaccinated children under the age of one); Group B (101 children at the age of one); Group C (74 children under the age of one and one at the age of one); Group D (163 unvaccinated children with a history of measles in the past - Group control). Children of Group A presented lower rates and 25.9% of the age group under two did not show any measles antibodies. In Group B, all the children presented antibodies. In Group C onby 4.0% did not. In all age groups, the geometric mean HI antibody titers of Group A were lower than the valuesfound in the other groups. The age at vaccination was the factor of greater influence on the results of this study.

e22509 Background: Enucleation used as the first-line tx option for RB, dx in advanced stages. Methods: To evaluate the enucleation rates of RB cases in 20 years period, to emphasize the recent developments in the tx of RB that contribute to the improvement of tx outcomes. Results: 262 patients, with the dx of RB between June 1998 &December 2018 in Ankara University Departmant of Pediatric Oncology were evaluated retrospectively. The M / F ratio was 1.2, mean age at dx 19.39 mos; 22.7 mos for unilateral &14.1 mos for bilateral dx. 61.8% of the patients had unilateral, 38.2% bilateral RB. 362 eyes were evaluated, 12.5% of the patients had a family history of RB bilateral dx was more frequent. The initial findings were leucocori in 58%& strabismus in 27.9%, similar to the literature. According to ICRB, 6% of the patients were diagnosed in Group A, 22% in Group B, 19% in Group C, 22% in Group D and 31% in Group E. Patients with bilateral dx were diagnosed at an earlier stage. Enucleation, in 50.5% of 362 eyes analyzed. There was no enucleated eye in Group A. In group B,10.1% of the eyes were enucleated, as of recurrence. 32.3% of eyes in Group C, 60.7% of eyes in Group D and 92.9% of eyes in Group E were enucleated. Enucleation was performed in 25.4% of the eyes within the first month after dx as of the advanced stage. 33.7% of of the eyes who did not have enucleation at the time of dx required enucleation at FU. The most common causes of enucleation were tumor recurrence, total retinal detachment & vitreous hemorrhage. The tx methods other than enucleation are systemic CT, RT & local treatments; cryotherapy, thermotherapy, episcleral brachytherapy, intravitreal CT & intraarterial CT. Systemic CT applied to 77% of the patients.CT protocol were VEC and ICE.RT was applied to 17% of the patients. After 2012, radiotherapy was used only in 2 patients with systemic involvement. Cryotherapy was performed in 48.3% of the eyes, thermotherapy in 38.6%, episcleral brachytherapy in 3.8% of the eyes included.Intraarterial CT to be used after 2004 was applied to 16.6% of eyes dx & intravitreal CT was used after 2009 was applied to13.2% of eyes. Enucleation was avoided in 84.6% of eyes in which these two tx modalities were applied together. Enucleation rates of 56.3% &61.2% between 1998-2004 and 2004-2009, respectively; with active use of intraarterial and intravitreal CT, decreased to 40.2% between 2009-2018. Conclusions: It was observed that enucleation rates &RT gradually decreased with using systemic CT and local treatment methods.

We investigated the actual processes for activating respiratory mucosal immunity. Hartley guinea pigs were immunized with particulate antigen of dinitrophenylated ovalbumin into the duodenum (group A), trachea (group B), and nasal cavity (group C) 1 week after systemic priming with the soluble antigen. The control animals (group D) received only systemic priming. Immunoglobulin A antibody titers in nasal secretions and saliva from groups A and B significantly exceeded those of groups C and D (p<.01). Many antigen-specific IgA-forming cells were detected in the respiratory and gastrointestinal mucosae of groups A and B. Following duodenal immunization, the appearance of antigen-specific IgA-forming cells in Peyer's patches preceded those in mesenteric and hilar lymph nodes, while they simultaneously appeared in the lymphoid tissues after tracheal immunization. These findings suggest that intratracheal immunization mainly stimulates bronchus-associated lymphoid tissue as a source of IgA precursors, as intraduodenal immunization stimulates gut-associated lymphoid tissue.

Background : Ovarian diseases and infertility are the very common health problems among the female population. Alteration in the volume of the ovary occurs throughout the reproductive life which may predispose to ovarian diseases such as cyst, polycystic ovary and ovarian carcinoma. Moreover, the reduction in ovarian volume leading to decrease the fertility of a women also. So the present study is designed to assess the volume of the ovary in Bangladeshi women in different age groups which will provide a complete and standarize the data in Bangladeshi population and also compare the data with other countries. It will provide resourcefull information which may further determine the ovarian reserve and reproductive age of female for improving the accurate diagnosis and management of ovarian diseases as well as infertility problems. Study design: Cross sectional and analytical type of study. Materials: The present study was performed on 65 cadaveric ovaries of both side in Bangladeshi female age ranging from 5 years to 65 years. Methods: The samples were divided into four different age groups. They were group A or prepubertal group (5-12years), group B or reproductive group (13-45 years), group C or perimenopausal group (46-51years) and group D or postmenopausal group (52-65years). Results: The mean (±SD) volumes were 2.84 + 0.22 milliliter and 2.83±0.24 milliliter in group A, 8.64 + 0.89 milliliter and 8.61± 0.89 milliliter in group B, 6.85 + 0.79 milliliter and 6.84±0.76 milliliter in group C and 2.62 + 0. 52 milliliter and 2.61± 0.50 milliliter in group D in the right & left ovaries respectively. The highest mean volume was observed in group B and lowest mean volume was in group D in both ovaries. Statistically highly significant difference (P<0.001) were found when group A was compared with group B & C, group B was compared with group C & D and group C was compared with group D. But when group A was compared with group D, it was not significant (P<0.50).The mean difference in volumes of right and left ovary between group A, group B, group C and group D were statistically not significant. Conclusion: In this study, volume of the ovary does not vary in between right and left ovary in any age group. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/updcj.v2i2.15482 Update Dent. C3 and C4 serum level were evaluated in 30 pregnant women which divided into groups: Group A16 (53.3%) (Pregnant women with history of abortion and positive anti toxoplasma IgM antibodies), Group B10 (33%) (Normal pregnancy women with no history of abortion or Toxoplasmosis.), Group C6 (20%) (Pregnant women with history of two abortion and positive anti toxoplasma IgM), group D 10 (33.3%) (Pregnant women with history of only one abortion and positive anti- toxoplasma IgM), group E 4 (13.3%) (Pregnant women with history of only one abortion and negative anti-toxoplasma IgM). The results showed that highest level of both C3 and C4 in women with positive anti toxplasma IgM and history of one or two abortion/abortions while the lowest level of these two complements were in women with negative anti toxplasma IgM even they had one abortion or no abortion. There is significant differences in concentration of C3 ( 189.7 ± 20.3 mg/dl ) and C4 ( 59.3 ± 7.5 mg/dl ) in group A and C3 ( 189.6 ± 17.7 mg/dl ) and C4 ( 63.08 ± 4.7 mg/dl) when compared with group B and E, and the result showed statistical differences in C4 concentration between group C and D at P< 0.05. We conclude that complement was play role in immune response of pregnant women especially against toxoplasmosis that cause abortion to these women.
