Tade gray mullet (Chelon planiceps) forms a lucrative fishery in the Hooghly-Matlah estuarine system. During eight months of investigation 232 specimens were examined to study length-weight relationship and relative condition factor (Kn). The length and weight of fish was varied from 41 to 283 mm and 0.81 to 208 g respectively. Two length-weight relationship equations were obtained from the analysis, W=0.0000397L2.952 for <187 mm size group and W=0.0000406L2.834 for >187 mm size group. The size at first maturity was recorded as 187 mm. The b value was not significantly different from 3 indicating isometric growth. The monthly mean Kn for the male and female were 1.041–1.125 and 1.009–1.236 respectively. The highest Kn value was recorded in July for both the sexes, which may be due to advance maturity stages. The present study will be useful in the context of biological management of mullet fishery as well as to find out aqua-farming potential of Tade gray mullet.

The Peppered loach, Lepidocephalichthys guntea is the least concerned freshwater species, commonly found in India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh. In West Bengal, it is popularly known as “Guntey” & it has commercial and food value. The current study aimed to the estimation of the length-weight relationship, condition, and relative condition factor (Kn) of the fish species Lepidocephalichthys guntea, habitats of Kangsabati river in the District West Midnapore, West Bengal, India. Total 161 numbers of species were collected between August 2019 to July 2020 and considered for examination. The fishes ranged from 5.4 to 10.7 cm in total length & 0.72 to 9.73 g in weight. The scatter diagram exhibits a linear relationship between the log length & log weight. The female species has a higher “b” value (b=3.452, P<0.05), which is greater than 3 which justifying a positive allometric growth. The parabolic equation among total length and weight of L. guntea is labeled as W= 0.008744991 L 2.7496 for males, W= 0.002153098 L 3.452 for females & W= 0.007575793 L 2.8155 for the combination of male and female species. Higher r2 (0.859, P<0.05) value in combined of male & female justifying a strong relationship between length and length. The mean condition(K) & relative condition factor (Kn) values were found to be the height in the male category with "K" value 0.654 & "Kn” value1.174 respectively indicating the well-being of the species. Although, this species does not sternly follow the cube law & shows a well status of health condition in their natural habitat.

Bharadhirajan P, Mahadevan G, Murugesan P, Murugan S, Pouladi M, Abbaspour Naderi R. 2019. Relative condition factor, length-weight relationship, and growth of three-spotted flounder, Pseudorhombus triocellatus (Bloch & Schneider, 1801) from Parangipettai Coast, India. Biodiversitas 20: 373-379. The three-spotted flounder, Pseudorhombus triocellatus is usually caught as trawl by-catch from Parangipettai coastal waters but regrettably, limited information on its age structure and growth is available. Hence, the present study aims to understand some basic parameters of its biology and growth. A total of 759 specimens (360 males and 399 females) ranging from 4 cm to 13 cm in total length (TL) and 5.26-35.41 g in weight were collected from the trawl catches of Parangipettai and Mudasalodai landing center during January–December 2015. The estimated growth coefficient (b) value for males (2.797) was greater than 3 and for females (3.023) was less than 3. The relative condition factor (Kn) values of females were higher than males except during February, June, and September. The values of asymptotic length (L∞) obtained in this study using various methods didn’t vary significantly (P>0.05). The most appropriate values of asymptotic length (Lα) for males were 137.11 mm and for females were 141.75 mm. The most appropriate values of growth rate (K) for males were 0.397 yr-1 and for females were 0.410 yr-1. The estimated length at age 0 (t0) for males and females were 0.197 mm and 0.292 mm, respectively. The longevity (tmax) of males and females P. triocellatus were 2.04 years and 2.24 years, respectively. The result of this study provides basic information for future studies.

The aim of this research is to know the length-weight relationship and condition factors of Mullet (L. subviridis) in Lereng Lagoon Purworejo Regency. The samples were collected monthly from February until May 2002. Total lengths and weights of the fish samples were measured. The length-weight relationships and relative condition factors measured were analyzed, and then t-test and least significant different test were conducted for length-weight relationships and relative condition factor respectively. The results indicated that the total length of Mullet had positive correlation to weight during observation. The length-weight relationships revealed that the slope values were significantly lower than 3 (allomatric growth) for each month of observation. The values of relative condition factors are vary from 0,9987 to 1,0162 for each size group for in all months. Those values are significantly not different to each other for all size and sex in all months.HUBUNGAN PANJANG-BERAT DAN FAKTOR KONDISI RELATIF BELANAK(Liza subviridis) DI LAGUNA LERENG KABUPATEN PURWOREJO

Length-weight relationship of 1119 specimens of Lepturacanthus savala (Cuvier 1829) from the Bay of Bengal, Bangladesh, was found to be curvilinear (W= 0.0003612 TL3.18) and linear (LogW= -3.44+3.18 LogTL) for both the sexes combined in arithmetic and logarithmic scales, respectively. The values of regression co-efficient (b) ranged from 3.002 to 3.337 (? ± 0.167) at 95% confidence limit. The regression 'b' value (3.18) followed the cube law and did not significantly (P>0.05) differ from the cube. The growth of the fish was found to be isometric. Relative condition factor (Kn) was also within the ideal range (0.9695 to 1.1155, mean 1.001± 0.033). Seasonal or in different length groups no dramatic changes in relative condition factor were observed. Length frequency distribution was found to be normal with maximum number of fish in mid length groups and minimum in the lowest and highest length groups. Length-weight relationship and relative condition factor (Kn) of greenback mullet Liza subviridis (Valenciennes, 1836) were estimated from 2286 samples (635 males and 1651 females) collected from the Pinang River Estuary, Balik Pulau, Penang from March 2013 to February 2014. The length-weight relationship and growth pattern were: W = 0.0117 L2.9989 (isometric) for pooled samples (male and female together), W = 0.0157 L2.8787 (negative allometric) for males and W = 0.0109 L3.0284 (isometric) for females. Independent t-test showed that female b value was higher than that of the males (p<0.05) with no significant difference between the wet and dry seasons (independent t-test, p>0.05). The mean Kn of L. subviridis was 1.01±0.13; however, no significant difference was detected between wet and dry seasons and between male and female samples (independent t-test, p>0.05).
