The turbulence of the current competitive environment emphasizes the importance of the role played by performance measurement systems in generating an improvement of business results. Starting from this consideration, the work pursues a twofold goal: firstly, it tries to verify the existence and the degree of a research interest about this topic; secondly, it seeks to identify, in measurement and evaluation systems, which factors are capable of producing an effect on performances of public organizations. In order to well respond to the research purposes, the work begins with a systematic literature review, which highlights a growing attention of scholars on all those variables considered critical in conducting and managing public organizations. The study, highlighting the existence of six variables to be advantageously taken into account in managing public organizations, especially in light of the potential influence that they seem to exert on different types of business performances, could be considered as a useful tool for both practitioners (managers of public organizations) and scholars (professors, researchers, students, etc.) aimed at helping to become aware about the advantages arising from an adequate management of performances measures. The main research limitation is the lack of an empirical analysis of public companies performance plans, which should be thoroughly examined to allow a possible further generalization of the theoretical findings achieved.

We conducted a bilingual literature review of the existing studies focusing on person-centered dementia care in China. We synthesized key findings from included articles according to three overarching themes: Chinese cultural relevance of person-centered care (PCC), perceived needs for PCC for older adults in China, implementation and measurement of PCC in China, and person-centered dementia care model. We also drew on frameworks, theories, and other contents from the examined articles to develop a person-centered dementia care model with specific relevance to China. The model is a good starting point to help us operationalize globally relevant core principles of PCC in the specific sociocultural context of China. The framework will be informed by more empirical studies and evolve with the ongoing operationalization of PCC. Although PCC is a new concept and has not been vigorously or systematically studied in China, it is attracting increasing attention from Chinese researchers. More empirical studies are needed to link PCC to measurable outcomes, enrich the framework for applying PCC, and construct assessment and evaluation systems to facilitate the provision of PCC across countries and cultures. Global consortia and collaborations with multidisciplinary expertise to develop a PCC common data infrastructure that is internationally relevant for data sharing and comparison are needed.

How traditional industries adapt to the digital economy to achieve sustainable development has attracted scholars and practitioners. Exploring the concept of BMA (business management adaptability) can not only theoretically explain adaptive micro-operation mechanisms but can provide practical guidance for enterprises to form adaptability. To date, although a lot of effort is being spent on detecting the adaptive construction elements, refining the BMA to specific management levels, a comprehensive review combines adaptability construction elements and specific levels have not yet been formed. In this trial, this paper innovatively utilizes a hybrid method that consists of a bibiometric and structural literature review to conduct a comprehensive theoretical study of relevant literatures from 1970 to 2020. By displaying current research conclusions and their defects, this study combines adaptability construction elements and innovatively forms a multi-level BMA framework. In this framework, this paper reveals the importance of setting up performance evaluation systems that focus on corporate profitability, probing and counterpoising relations between internal and external environments. Finally, this paper provides recommendations for practitioners about how to build their own competitive advantages when the digital economy hits the global world.

Classification and job evaluation systems have come under attack in the public sector. A literature review was conducted to help public sector human resource professionals make informed decisions about whether or not to change or even abandon traditional classification and job evaluation systems for compensation purposes. It is concluded that traditional classification and job evaluation procedures continue to have relevance in public sector settings. However, current classification and job evaluation systems need to be broadened to adapt to the changing nature of work in public sector organizations. Recommendations to shift the focus from “job” to “work” evaluation are offered.

Shifts between concepts of “graphic design” and “visual communication” offer numerous topical links and demonstrate their relevance for our research question: “How can communication designers design and steer rumor-based communication?” An interdisciplinary research team at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB) launched the project “Gerüchtekuchee” (“Rumour mill”) and conducted an experiment by planting a real-life rumor in organizational context. Results together with evidence from a literature review informed a practice application—“The Rumor Fighter”—as part of a museum exhibition, Gerücht: Museum für Kommunikation [Rumor: Museum of Communication], in Bern, Berlin, Frankfurt.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a characterization of the editorial design methods of technical books in a hybrid publishing context. Design/methodology/approach The paper starts by characterizing editorial design as a discipline itself within graphic design, which is then further identified as in urgent need to adapt strategies to technologies, communication processes and existing information flows. Along with the literature review, the paper includes an analysis of one particular case study, O’Reilly Media. Findings The paper provides arguments to conclude that the classical approach to the designer’s workflow should be reviewed and the way of framing the editorial problem should also be different: it should focus on the content. Originality/value The paper includes implications for the improvement of digital workflows and design processes in the STM hybrid publishing field.

AbstractRadiotherapy is an important treatment of oral and maxillofacial malignancies. Among the various effects of this locoregional therapy, osteoradionecrosis (ORN) plays a prominent role due to its physical and psychological impact on cancer patients. In the literature, the therapeutic approach of ORN varies from a conservative to invasive surgery treatment. Objective: collect in the scientific literature, concise and current information about the benefits of using these therapies in the ORN. The present literature review selected articles based on the titles that addressed osteoradionecrosis treatment, as well as the evaluation systems adopted. After previous analysis, 22 relevant articles were included on the proposed theme. According to the literature, several hypotheses have been established to explain the etiopathogenesis of ORN, as numerous evaluation systems have been developed in the last years. Regarding the main therapeutic modalities used, new less invasive therapies have acquired space, such as ozone therapy, laser therapy associated with photodynamic therapy and drugs, such as vitamin, antifibrotic and anti-resorptive. However, in spite of the promising results, new randomized clinical trials have to be performed in an attempt to discover the real effectiveness of these therapies in the ORN. Therefore, it becomes a challenging issue for dental surgeons, since it requires the constant monitoring and long term of these patients, due to the risk of progression or recurrence of this condition. Keywords: Radiotherapy. Osteoradionecrosis. Conservative Treatment. Ozone. Photochemotherapy.
