Grain storage and processing is the most important component of the grain market infrastructure. The task of grain storage is to ensure complete safety of quantity and quality with minimal labor and money costs. In the laboratory of the M. Kozybayev North Kazakhstan University, a prototype of an innovative type of grain storage was developed using horizontal silos, designed to reduce the cost of construction and reconstruction of elevators while improving quality, increasing storage times and reducing current storage costs. The design feature makes it possible to automate most of the operations of the technological process of grain storage. This article proposes a method for the automated formation of control actions on grain storage equipment as a result of data analysis from temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide level sensors and 3D measurements of the grain surface. A project of an automated system for monitoring and controlling grain storage facilities with horizontal silos has been developed. A distinctive feature of the proposed automated system is the most complete set of conditions for the correct storage of grain in comparison with other control systems for the technological process of a granary. Automation of work is achieved through the developed method for generating control signals, as well as such computational algorithms as forecasting the completion time of loading based on the conditional filling rate of the grain storage section, forecasting the completion time of unloading based on the conditional grain release rate, calculating the grain volume in the section using 3D measurements. The logic of the functioning of the basic algorithms for an automated monitoring and control system for a granary with horizontal silos is based on the analysis of the parameters of temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide level and 3D measurements of the grain surface in the sections of the granary. In the presented project of an automated system, scientific knowledge and achievements in the field of grain storage and the theory of identification measurements were taken into account, which makes it possible to use the described algorithms in information systems for monitoring grain storage facilities of other types.

The paper deals with the mathematical model of the rational distribution of vehicles, which allows attaching them to a group of combine harvesters during harvesting, depending on the carrying capacity of vehicles, the productivity of combine harvesters and the capacity of grain storage facilities. In addition, it presents a formula which allows determining the required number of vehicles that will deliver grain from a group of combine harvesters. Further the article presents calculations of routes of vehicles movement and determination of the required number of vehicles de-pending on the carrying capacity of one of the operating agricultural organizations.

The objective of this work was to design a automate system for microalgae cultivation on a continuous modes in laboratory scale and allow its remote monitoring and control. For this, a sensor were developed is able to measure biomass concentration. The concentration sensor used the principle of light scattering, that is, by measuring the turbidity of the culture medium by the use of a set of phototransistor and green led. It presented an mean absolute percentage error of 8.46% during the experiment. A pH, temperature and light sensor were also installed. The control of all the sensors was accomplished by means of an microcontroller. For remote control and monitoring of the controller, a database was designed and implemented on a Raspberry Pi connected to the network. The graphics and data collected are available on an HTML page that allows changes in the control mode of the photobioreactor, for example by changing the dilution rates. The controller was able to operate the photobioreactor in batch mode, as well as to maintain the culture operating in continuous regime. The continuous production of microalgae biomass in a continuous regime showed productivity 74.5% higher than the traditional batch process and 28.2% higher than semicontinuous cultivation.

Abstract. Hazards associated with grain storage facilities are a contributing factor to agricultural injuries and are a perpetual problem for Ohio farmers, especially as on-farm grain storage facilities continue to grow in popularity with producers. To establish effective injury prevention programs, safety professionals must first understand how the industry operates, the culture of the workers, and the current practices used to avoid injuries. This research project was designed to bridge the gap between what is currently known about the hazards that exist on Ohio’s farms, specifically how safety and health information is incorporated at the grain handling and storage facilities. Using a four-part survey, 182 cash grain operators, comprising a convenience sample of farmers attending educational events, were surveyed to determine the type of grain storage and handling facilities used on their farms, the occurrence of out-of-condition grain, and the health and safety factors practiced at these facilities, including their knowledge about potential hazards. Results indicated that the farmers preferred to get safety knowledge from a course or seminar (53.6%) or by reading a magazine or periodical (38.8%). The surveyed farmers indicated that they had higher knowledge of the safety risks of out-of-condition grain than of the health effects from exposure to out-of-condition grain (p < 0.01). They identified personal protective equipment (PPE) as their primary measure to prevent injuries, with the top PPE items being respirators, safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves. Farmers who encountered out-of-condition grain reported more employees on their farms compared to the other farmers in the sample and reported higher use of PPE. While these results cannot be generalized to Ohio’s entire population of cash grain farmers, they provide a good understanding of the on-farm grain storage and management practices, which will allow a more targeted intervention plan, both in better engineering controls and in future outreach programs.
