Malignant kidney tumors make up 6 % of all childhood tumors and require careful differential diagnosis with other diseases. This article discusses the differential diagnosis of nephroblastoma and kidney tuberculosis.Conflict of interest. The authors declare no conflict of interest.Funding. Insomnia is a common symptom in children with malignant diseases and especially in children with tumors of the central nervous system (CNS). However, little attention is paid this complication during the therapy of malignant neoplasms. Insomnia violates the quality of life of children and their immediate surroundings. In this article, the etiology, pathogenesis, and diagnostics are discussed in detail, and methods for treating this pathology are presented with two clinical cases confirming the diverse nature of insomnia in CNS tumors. Thus, the importance of an individual approach to the therapy of insomnia is emphasized.Conflict of interest. The authors declare no conflict of interest.Funding. Most often any kidney lesions are primary renal, but sometimes they can be secondary (metastases, lymphoma). Every year renal cell carcinoma tends to a significant increase in the incidence. Today there are many available methods of examination, however difficulties often remain in the differential diagnosis of kidney lesions. The article discusses about the modern possibilities of methods in the identification and assessment of kidney lesions, their role in determining the tactics of patient management and key approaches in imaging characterization of these masses using CT and PET, MRI and CEUS. The analysis of the modern literature has shown that the currently existing radiation diagnostic methods do not provide an absolute opportunity for differential diagnosis of rare kidney tumors. CEUS, according to various authors, demonstrates high efficiency indicators, but does not exceed these indicators in comparison with CT and MRI. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound is a potentially safe method and can be used as a method for additional examination to characterize indeterminate renal lesions.

Desmoid fibroids (DF) are mesenchymal tumours consisting of differentiated fibroblasts and excessive amounts of collagen fibres. DF are extremely rare pathology, its frequency is 2-4 cases per 1 million people per year and it is less than 3% of all soft tissue tumours. The surgical method is the main in the treatment of DF, however, while a surgeon ensuring a negative border of resection, there are functional and cosmetic defects that require reconstruction. This study presents the results of surgical treatment of 40 patients with DF extraabdominal localization using reconstructive plastic surgery, as well as adjuvant drug treatment with a positive border of resection. The scientific activity of M. Wilms is characterized by a versatility of his surveys and breadth of research. M. Wilms contributed to the development of clinical surgery and oncology by proposing new methods for diagnosing and treating the main forms of malignant tumors of the genital organs and kidneys; he made a significant contribution to the practice of world medicine. M. Wilms conducted classical studies of  teratoid tumors of  the ovaries and testes, mixed tumors, kidney tumors. The  tumor described by M. Wilms in 1899, is one of the most frequent malignant neoplasms in children, it usually occurs from 2 to 5 years, but it can be detected at any age, even in very old people. A talented scientist and teacher demanding of himself and his students, Max Wilms published over 130 scientific works, he was the only author of the vast majority of them.Conflict of interest: The authors of this article confirmed the lack of conflict of interest and financial support, which should be reported.

Neuroblastoma (NB) is one of the most common childhood solid tumors. Current problem of children’s oncology is treatment of patients from high-risk NB. Now the standard of treatment of these patients is application of the stage-by-stage therapy including induction, consolidation, and post-consolidation. During induction the maximum reduction of the primary tumor and the metastasis for a possibility of optimum local control is reached. Consolidation consists in high-dose chemotherapy which purpose is to consolidate the reached remission. After the completions of treatment patients receive the maintenance therapy, the standard is use of the differentiating therapy in combination with monoclonal anti-GD2-antibody (dinutuximab). Certainly, this tactics allowed achieving considerable progress in treatment of primary patients with unfavorable prognosis. Options of treatment for high-risk NB depend on some factors. Certainly, the tumor dissemination is characterized by extremely adverse forecast for life and recovery of the patient. However a local recurrence can be successfully cured. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate a rare clinical case of therapy from isolated central nervous system NB recurrence.Conflict of interest. The article describes a clinical case of a patient aged 15 years with a sequential transformation of the ameloblastoma of the upper jaw into ameloblastic fibrosarcoma and undifferentiated round-cell sarcoma as a result of frequent relapses against the background of standard anticancer treatment. This clinical example is of interest not only because of the preservation of the mutation in the BRAF gene at all stages of transformation, which made it possible to conduct successful therapy with BRAF and MEK inhibitors after the exhaustion of all standard therapeutic possibilities.Conflict of interest. The authors declare no conflict of interest.Funding. The study was performed without external funding

Renal artery aneurysm is defined as the dilated segment of renal artery exceeding twice the diameter of the normal renal artery. As more than half of such aneurysms have the annular calcification, they must be differentiated from the stones. Differential diagnosis of the renal artery aneurysm includes the parapelvical cysts, hydronephrosis and kidney tumors. Renal artery aneurysm can be diagnosed by CT, MRI, as well by ultrasonography and color dopplerography. Unfortunately presence of calcification renders the ultrasonographic examination impossible. In this article we share our own experience of two cases of calcified renal aneurysms diagnosed and treated at our hospital.
