As is known, the issues of clarifying the diagnosis of diseases of the female genital area with the help of contrast agents have been dealt with almost from the earliest period of the use of X-rays in medicine; however, due to the strong irritant effect on the mucous membrane of the proposed contrast agents, or due to the weakness of the shadows given by them in the picture, these substances were left.

The author found that low-dose x-ray therapy (the author used 15-20% NED) is a valuable way to treat inflammatory processes in the female genital area.

Molecular imaging enables us to non-invasively visualize cellular functions and biological processes in living subjects, allowing accurate diagnosis of diseases at early stages. For successful molecular imaging, a suitable contrast agent with high sensitivity is required. To date, various nanoparticles have been developed as contrast agents for medical imaging modalities. In comparison with conventional probes, nanoparticles offer several advantages, including controllable physical properties, facile surface modification and long circulation time. In addition, they can be integrated with various combinations for multimodal imaging and therapy. In this opinion piece, we highlight recent advances and future perspectives of nanomaterials for molecular imaging. This article is part of the themed issue ‘Challenges for chemistry in molecular imaging’.

Having examined this issue on a very large material, Veisunberg (Zentr. F. Gyn., 1923, No. 23) found that both of these diseases do not affect the endometrium, why menstruation with them proceeds normally, occasionally only, often with recurrentѳ. uterine bleeding is observed and in approximately ⅓ of all cases short-term amenorrhea after recovery.

The issue of radical treatment of uterine cancer has been deservedly attracting special attention of gynecologists for a long time. In fact, this disease, which until recently was considered incurable, accounts for about 3.5% of all diseases of the female genital area; so according to the statistics of Petrov (V. Petrov. On the issue of radical surgical treatment of uterine cancer. Dis. 1888) for the ambulatory of the St. Petersburg Mariinsky hospital and clinic prof. Lebedev, embracing 5,040 gynecological patients, uterine cancer occurs in an amount of 3.5%. According to statistics prof. Ott (D. Ott. Complete vaginal uterine eruption, etc. Doctor. 1889, No. 39-49) 4228 uterine cancer is 3.7% of all gynecological patients. According to Schrder (Schroeder. Guide to diseases of female sex. Organs) for 16,800 patients, this disease occurred in 3.6%.

Variants of pathological changes related to the group of white lesions: multiform erythema, flat lichen, candidiasis glossitis at the stage of formation of white foci. In this paper we consider the differential diagnosis of multiform erythema, planar lichen, candidiasis glossitis in the presence of signs of white plaque. Clarification of the diagnosis is based on a thorough examination and additional (including laboratory) research methods. Analysis of the results of observation of clinical cases of oral mucosa diseases to differentiate existing foci for correct diagnosis and subsequent treatment. The analysis of clinical cases of diseases of the oral mucous membrane indicates the similarity of their elements of destruction and manifestations of other symptoms, which greatly complicates the diagnostic search. A thorough survey, inspection, consultations of general specialists and additional laboratory tests allow to successfully solve the tasks

If there are still many unclear questions in the doctrine of tumors in general, the same should be said in relation to tumors of the female genital area in particular. Particularly poorly illuminated from the scientific point of view is the question of those tumors of the female genital area, the extraordinary size of which set them apart from the rest. We mean the so-called. colossal or giant tumors of the female genital area.

Abstract Background Percutaneous closure of patent foramen ovale (PFO) is routinely performed using plain fluoroscopy in the catheter room. This method results in inevitable radiation damage, adverse effects of contrast agents on kidneys, and high cost. We performed PFO closure with a simplified and economical transesophageal echocardiography (TEE)-only guided approach in the operating room. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of the percutaneous closure of PFO by only using TEE. Methods We reviewed the medical records of patients who underwent percutaneous PFO closure at our center from December 2013 to December 2017. A total of 132 patients with PFO and cryptogenic strokes underwent PFO closure by using cardi-O-fix PFO device under TEE guidance. The participants comprised 64 and 68 male and female patients, respectively. The mean age and body weight of the patients were 39.40 ± 13.22 years old (12–68 years old) and 65.42 ± 9.70 kg (40–95 kg), respectively. All patients only received aspirin (3–5 mg/kg body weight, oral administration) for 6 months. Contrast-enhanced transthoracic echocardiography (c-TTE) with Valsalva maneuver was performed during follow-up, and questionnaire surveys were obtained at 3, 6, and 12 months after the procedure. Results All (100%) patients were successfully closed. Follow-ups were conducted for 13 months to 48 months, with an average of 27 months. No severe complications were found during the follow-up period. Paroxysmal atrial fibrillation occurred in 4 patients within 3 months after the procedure. No recurrent stroke or death occurred in all patients during the follow-up period. Transient ischemic attack occurred in one patient 6 months after the procedure. Ten (7.6%) patients had a right-to-left shunt, as demonstrated by c-TTE at 12 months of follow-up. Among the 57 patients suffering from migraine, significant relief or resolution was reported by 42 (73.7%) patients. Conclusion TEE-only guided PFO closure was a safe, feasible, and effective method that did not require the use of X-rays and contrast agents.
