Postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) is the leading cause of maternal mortality. All women who carry a pregnancy beyond 20 weeks’ gestation are at risk for PPH and its sequel. Although maternal mortality rates have declined greatly in the developed world, PPH remains a leading cause of maternal mortality elsewhere. The aim of this study is to investigate the incidence of PPH in patients delivered by different modality and identify the importance risk factors. A Cross sectional study of 9674 patients admitted to the labor or obstetrics word and theater unit during the period of 5-months duration from 2nd of January to the 31th of December 2015. The results of this data indicated that the identified risk factors of PPH are essential to increased effective care and eventually increased the maternal survival.

Kata kunci: perdarahan postpartum, paritas, kematian ibu Abstract The main causes of maternal mortality in Indonesia are hemorrhage (28%), eclampsia (24%) and infection (11%). Postpartum hemorrhage is a common cause of all deaths due to obstetric hemorrhage. Parity is one of the risk factors for the occurrence of postpartum hemorrhage. The objective of this study was to determine the relationship between postpartum hemorrhage and parity at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padang. This research was analytic study using cross sectional study design by taking 72 medical record of postpartum hemorrhage at RSUP Dr. M. Djamil Padangwithin the period 1 January 2010 until 31 December 2012. The statistical analysis used was chi-square test with a significance level of 0,05. The result showed that most of postpartum hemorrhage in this research is primary postpartum hemorrhage (69,4%), the most parity is parity > 3 (37,5%). Chi-square statistical test obtained p = 0,49 (p > 0,05) which means there is no significant statistically between primary and secondary postpartum hemorrhage with parity. Although it’s not significant statistically, postpartum hemorrhage was increase along with the increased of parity. It is suggested to pregnant women with risk factors of high parity to regularly check her pregnancy to health providers so that maternal health can be controlled in order to prevent primary postpartum hemorrhage. Keywords: postpartum hemorrahage, parity, maternal mortality

The maternal mortality rate (MMR) and infant mortality rate (IMR) is a barometer of a country's health services. In developed countries, the incidence of severe preeclampsia and eclampsia ranges from 6-7% 0.1 to 0.7%. While the maternal mortality rate due to pre-eclampsia and eclampsia in developing countries is still high (Betty & Yanti, 2011). To analyze the risk factors of weight in Pre eclampsia Referral Hospital Sultan Imanudin Pangkalan Bun and Dr. Doris Sylvanus Palangkaraya. This was an observational study conducted using a cross sectional study design. A cross-sectional study is when the influence of independent variables (exposure) and the dependent variable (effect) is observed and measured at the same time. Based on multivariable logistic regression analysis of factors affecting the risk factors PEB is the mother's age, education, gestational age, parity, ANC. Factors unrelated significantly is work, spacing, PE history, history of diabetes, Gemelli, economic and social decision-making. Factors that increase the risk of PEB is the mother's age, education, occupation, gestational age, parity, history of PE, the ANC and the social economy. Factors unrelated significantly is spasing, history of diabetes, Gemelli, and decision making. For pregnant women can do a pregnancy without looking at risk factors for PEB or no risk factors, to see some of the risk factors determinants. For health workers to carry out pregnancy tests with a focus on the pregnancy.

Objective: To determine the frequency, risk factors and existing practice for the management of massive primary postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). Study design: Retrospective cross-sectional study. Setting: Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at Kuwait Teaching Hospital, Peshawar. Materials and methods: this study was performed from June 2008 to June 2010. Women who developed massive primary PPH after admission or were admitted with it, were included in the study. Medical record files of these women were reviewed for maternal mortality and morbidities which included mode of delivery, possible cause of postpartum hemorrhage, supportive medical and surgical intervention. Data was entered in the pre-structured proforma. Estimates of blood loss were made on history, visual parameters and patient’s condition. All the data was analyzed by using statistical computer soft ware SPSS 6. Results: During the study period total number of obstetrical admissions were 2944. Forty nine out of 2769 (1.76%) deliveries, developed massive primary PPH. The highest frequency of massive primary PPH was observed in grand multiparous patients. Uterine atony was the most common cause of the complication. Birth attendants other than doctor and delivery outside the study unit were significantly associated with the adverse outcome in these patients. Seventy five percent patients,(36/49) who had massive PPH, delivered vaginally. High dependency unit (HDU) was required in 12% (6/49) of women. Only one caesarian hysterectomy was done. There was one maternal mortality. Blood transfusions were required in 82% (40/49) of the patients. Conclusions: Postpartum hemorrhage can be a preventable condition if early identification and timely management of this complication and its risk factors is observed. Uterine atony is the leading cause of immediate PPH. The main risk factors for PPH due to uterine atony are high parity, a large fetus, multiple fetuses, hydramnios, or past history of PPH. Determining the frequency, risk factors and management of primary postpartum hemorrhage will help design stepwise protocols for prevention and management of primary PPH in our setup.

Nathues C, Janssen E, Duengelhoef A et al. Cross-sectional study on risk factors for Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome virus sow herd instability in German breeding herds.
