This article seeks to determine the critical success factors for franchised restaurants entering the Kenyan market from the customers’ perspective. We used a quantitative methodology by taking a survey. The respondents were identified using convenience sampling. A sample of 389 franchised restaurant customers was drawn and a response rate of 98.7% was obtained. It is suggested that the critical success factors for franchised restaurants from customers’ perspective include good and consistent products and product range (menu mix), competent staff who were clean, warm, courteous and welcoming, a pleasant and clean atmosphere, reasonable and stable prices of products and a convenient location with efficient service. This paper has added value in theory by identifying the critical success factors for franchised restaurants entering the Kenyan market from customers’ perspective. The findings can be used by restaurant franchises that seek to establish successful businesses in the Kenyan market and other similar regional markets.

Digital libraries continue to be an important source for indigenous content and research output in developing countries, especially in the context where traditional distribution mechanisms failed. It is therefore useful for continual research to maintain and enhance our standing on the topic and to improve ways of making digital libraries more usable and sustainable to the user community. It is with this effect that this study on the success factors of digital libraries was conducted, with the objective to identify and validate a set of critical success factors (CSFs) for digital library implementation in developing countries. To address this, a quantitative exploratory research design was employed using a web-based survey questionnaire as the data collection technique. A total of 56 item statements associated with the Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) framework were developed and respondents were asked about their Perceived Importance and Actual Practices of those factors in digital library implementation. Digital libraries in Africa were sampled and an identified 155 digital libraries from this continent were obtained from OpenDOAR, with 111 sample size representative of the respondents. Based on a 70 percent response rate expectation, invitations were sent to respondents representing the digital libraries. After almost six months, there was a 67.7 percent response rate with 105 usable questionnaires obtained. This study revealed eight CSFs for digital library implementation in ranked order - Content, Architecture, People, Process, Standards, Location and Time, Policy and Advocacy. They are the salient factors that would not only assist to attain sustainable digital library development and implementation, but also provide guidance to library practitioners in appropriate decisions for digital library adoption. It may also help libraries to accomplish their digital library mission in the most cost effective way.

This paper attemts to ilustrate how the managers and the staff of a 5 star hotel in Kosovo define quality. Furthermore, it explores the number of critical success factors related to TQM culture and how they are applied in the hotel operations. Different theories related to the quality in the field of service provision, more particular in hospitality or hotel sector and the introduction of the TQM culture in the same sector. A conceptual framework based on existing theories and literature is developed which is than confirms through the research findings and analysis. The findings suggest that most features associated with TQM, like critical success factors assessed throughout the research (leadership, customer focus, and training, communication, teams and staff empowerment) can produce an advantage for the 5 star hotel operations that will affect the quality of service. Furthermore, it confirms that some of the TQM aspects are applied and can be applied in 5 star hotel operations in Kosovo. The issue is whether these aspects are understood as TQM principles and whether their added value is embraced in the day-to-day running of the hotel. The outcomes imply that, indeed, the TQM culture is present in the The Hotel, a 5 star hotel in Kosovo. Some of the critical success factors are directly linked to TQM and some less and it also provides suggestions for improvement where needed, especially related to specific tools that are integral parts of the TQM culture.

This paper represents the quintessence of our own research on the critical success factors identified by analysing the lives and deeds of 10 world leaders from an entrepreneurial perspective. In the research we looked for the answers to a series of questions such as: What defines these action people, who have calculated and taken risks to achieve the proposed objectives? What motivated these personalities to conquer minds, hearts, and territories? Where did they get the courage, they needed to act according to their dream? What were their strengths? What defines and differentiates a successful manager? Where is the boundary between the managerial style beneficial to the organization and the sinusoidal approach of the managerial path? The paper was made by substantiating these answers and developing a list of determining factors in achieving the success of an entrepreneur. The results obtained constitute a decalogue for entrepreneurs to achieve added value for the businesses they implement.

The paper proposes a systematization of the key success factors of projects, through the theoretical review of family-owned companies operating in the EU market. It is the small and medium companies that in their own way contribute to the overall success of the national economy in terms of economic activity, increased employment, development activities and defining better business environment. The theoretical review observed numerous studies of family businesses, and the contribution of this work is in the systematization of the results of previous research – over three horizons, i.e., over the role of managers in the creation of successful projects (or owner if it is a family enterprise), institutional support for companies in Serbia and the EU, specific industries and the parent (regional) markets where a family company operates. Project management, as a general representation of the concept of implementation of strategic and operational endeavors, contains many specifics in terms of critical success factors of projects depending on the environment in which they are implemented. The goal of the paper is reflected in the identification and presentation of critical success factors of projects implemented in family companies. The paper concludes with a discussion of the research results in relation to the existing, similar research studies, as well as with the announcement of future research, which will examine the conclusions drawn on a real sample.

As manufactured vehicles have become more global, the competitive pressures from multi-national companies have increased substantially. Based on that, it is clearly shows that, the important of understanding the implementation of green indicators concept. Hence, the principal aim of this paper is to highlight the establishment of Green Design concept for Malaysia automotive industry by establishing a set of ‘Critical Success Factors’ that will be applied at the design stage. Survey methodology was employed to collect data. Data were obtained from 104 automotives companies and related suppliers in Malaysia with 29% response rate. This paper presents findings of Confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) results on green design concept for Malaysia automotive industry.

Organizations have made significant investments in ICT projects, hoping to gain competitive advantages, growth and improvement of productivity. The success and failures of the project is one of the fields in Project Management with most frequently discussed. Project planning is an important part in the project management and has a stronger impact on project success. However, weakness in project strategy and planning lead to lack of business support, inefficient use of resources, poor estimates, poor scope control and increase risks. Previous studies have reported that well-defined project plans play an important role in the success of the project. In recent times, various factors contribute to project success namely; organizational, human, project management, complexity, quality, and technical. Hence, this study aimed to explore and identify critical success factors on project planning that lead to project success. A model is derived from findings of the literature review and tested within the Malaysian public sector through quantitative methodology. Thus, the finding of this study provide the organization with insight to drive their performance improvement in managing investments for project management field, especially through strengthening employees and organization competence as well as benefit the public’s sector.
