Some machining and handtool properties of tetuya koroi (Albizia odoratissima) wood

The study was conducted to determine the suitability of tetuya koroi (Albizia odoratissima) wood for furniture manufacturing i.e., planing, shaping, boring, mortising, turning, etc machining and handtool property tests of this species grown in south-east Bangladesh.. The evaluation in both machining and handtool property tests was based on the frequency of the defect-free sample. Finishing property was also determined by implementing two types of polishing materials, viz.: carpa and shellac. The defects of the sample were estimated by visual and tactile observation. The percentage of defect free samples was evaluated for each property operation and classified based on five quality grades. The study's findings mainly introduced good working properties, and tetuya koroi wood may be suitable for furniture. All properties exhibited 63 % to 76 % grade 1 and 95 % to 100 % qualified grade. The finishing property of this wood showed good quality as well.

Standard techniques of electropolishing silver and silver alloys for electron microscopy in most instances have relied on various CN recipes. These methods have been characteristically unsatisfactory due to difficulties in obtaining large electron transparent areas, reproducible results, adequate solution lifetimes, and contamination free sample surfaces. In addition, there are the inherent health hazards associated with the use of CN solutions. Various attempts to develop noncyanic methods of electropolishing specimens for electron microscopy have not been successful in that the specimen quality problems encountered with the CN solutions have also existed in the previously proposed non-cyanic methods.The technique we describe allows us to jet polish high quality silver and silver alloy microscope specimens with consistant reproducibility and without the use of CN salts.The solution is similar to that suggested by Myschoyaev et al. It consists, in order of mixing, 115ml glacial actic acid (CH3CO2H, specific wt 1.04 g/ml), 43ml sulphuric acid (H2SO4, specific wt. g/ml), 350 ml anhydrous methyl alcohol, and 77 g thiourea (NH2CSNH2).

Facility layout is integrated planning of the flow of a product in an operating system to obtain the most effective and efficient interrelation between workers, materials, machinery, and equipment as well as handling and transferring materials. A company engaged in furniture manufacturing has a problem in its production process, namely, the distance between machines is too far so that it affects the cost of handling materials. Distant workstations are found on profile machines, milling machines, measuring machines, cutting machines. Therefore, improvements must be made to the layout of facilities on the production floor so that facility layout is efficient and material handling costs are reduced. The problem-solving approach used is the Graph Method and CRAFT Algorithm. The results of the research show that material handling costs are reduced by 7.58% or Rp. 17,765 using the CRAFT algorithm.

This article explores ornithology as a hidden resource in anthropological field work. Relating experiences among the Penan forest nomads of Sarawak, Borneo, the author describes how his personal knowledge of bird life paved the way for good working relations, and even friendship, with the Penan. Representing two very different cultures simple communication between the scholar on duty and the Penan community was difficult indeed, but the birds provided a common ground that enabled the two parties to exchange experiences, knowledge and skills. In certain ways the author's fieldwork-based project relates to the Penan’s religious interpretation of birds, but the article is primarily concerned with the fact that a mutual understanding was created from this common ground, and that our thoughts on fieldwork preparations may be taken further by such experiences.

Abstract For those attempting fault isolation on computer motherboard power-ground short issues, the optimal technique should utilize existing test equipment available in the debug facility, requiring no specialty equipment as well as needing a minimum of training to use effectively. The test apparatus should be both easy to set up and easy to use. This article describes the signal injection and oscilloscope technique which meets the above requirements. The signal injection and oscilloscope technique is based on the application of Ohm's law in a short-circuit condition. Two experiments were conducted to prove the effectiveness of these techniques. Both experiments simulate a short-circuit condition on the VCC3 power rail of a good working PC motherboard and then apply the signal injection and oscilloscope technique to localize the short. The technique described is a simple, low cost and non-destructive method that helps to find the location of the power-ground short quickly and effectively.

Monitoring consumer buying behaviors in terms of their preferences and attitudes has been known as an important driver for the success and development of various industries, including a wood furniture manufacturing. The aim of this study was to identify and compare the purchasing behaviors of furniture consumers in the period before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Two surveys were conducted in Croatia, the first in April and May 2020 with the assumption that consumer purchasing behaviors will change during the COVID-19 pandemic in the following year and the second one during March 2021. Differences regarding consumer purchasing behaviors and preferences for wood furniture between respondents regarding demographic and economic factors before and during the pandemic were found. The coronavirus pandemic is teaching us all hard lessons about resilience and adaptability, and new opportunities and solutions are essential. Nowadays, it is becoming increasingly important to produce information. Research offers insights into future design and building communication to better meet the information needs of different types of consumers and to more broadly increase the acceptance and appeal of wood furniture in society in the spirit of sustainable and bio-based circular economy.
