Introduction. Morbidity toxocariasis, second in prevalence geohelminthiasis in Russia, is a serious problem in recent years, especially in metropolitan areas. The involvement of earthworms in the life cycle of toxocarias remains poorly understood. The role of earthworms (paratenic hosts) in the circulation and prevention of toxocariasis is established. The work is aimed at a contribution finding out of earthworms Еisеniа fеtidа (paratenic hosts) in toxocariasis circulation and prevention. Material and methods. Nematodes dehelminthization derived from animals. For the first time in Russian Federation, experiments have been conducted on infestation of earthworms Е. fеtidа with infective eggs Tоxоcаrа cаnis and Tоxоcаrа mystax. Results. In the conducted experiments, possibility is proved of infestation of earthworms Е. fеtidа with infective eggs Т. canis and Т. mystax via earth bacterized with 10000 infective eggs. For the first time migration was proved of ascaridate larvae from intestines to skin-muscular sac of the earthworms. Conclusion. Besides, investigation was conducted aimed at finding out of the period duration of Т. canis and Т. mystax larvae staying in earthworms’ intestines and sinews.

Development of Thelohania solenopsae, a parasite of the red imported fire ant (Solenopsis invicta), until recently was thought to include formation of two types of spores: unicellular meiospores, maturing inside sporophorous vesicles in sets of eight (octospores); and Nosema-like binuclear free spores. Megaspores, discovered in 2001, develop primarily in alates and are morphologically distinct from the two previously known types of spores. The role of megaspores in the T. solenopsae life cycle, as well as their existence, has been questioned. The current research includes light and electron microscopic descriptions of the three major spore morphotypes characteristic of T. solenopsae development. In addition, individual octospores and megaspores were isolated into groups of 8–20 from methanol-fixed and Calcofluor-stained smears of the infected ants for subsequent PCR analysis by the laser pressure catapulting function of a position ablative laser microbeam microscope, a technique applied for the first time to research of microsporidia. The PCR-amplified SSU rDNA nucleotide sequences from octospores and megaspores were identical. This, along with the consistency with which megaspores are detected in infected ants, demonstrates that megaspores are integral to the life cycle of T. solenopsae.

Unauthorized construction, including unauthorized reconstruction, is a frequent violation of building and land management norms in the regulation of low-rise residential development in the Russian Federation. Giving the status of legality to such buildings is possible only in court, which is always accompanied by a judicial land management (cadastral) examination. At the same time, there are currently no requirements for its implementation. The author also observes a tendency for a lack of a unified approach to measurements, to state cadastral registration and to the life cycle of an unauthorizedly reconstructed building. In this article, using the example of the analysis of compliance with the distances from newly erected walls or other elements of the construction object in the process of (unauthorized) reconstruction to the boundaries of the land plot and to neighboring buildings, for the first time, an approach to the forensic land management examination of this type is systematized.

Cephalopods are intermediate/paratenic hosts in the life cycle of elasmobranch tapeworms, nevertheless most records of infection in this group of mollusks are outdated and fragmentary. The present work aimed to investigate the cestode fauna of the common octopus Octopus vulgaris from the Tyrrhenian Sea (Central Mediterranean). The parasitic stages were characterized by light and Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and sequencing of 28S rDNA. Three cestode taxa were identified to the genus level: the onchoproteocephalidean Acanthobothrium sp. (prevalence 28%), the “tetraphyllidean” Anthobothrium sp. (prevalence 13%) and the trypanorhynch Nybelinia sp. (prevalence 3%). The remarkable prevalence observed for gastrointestinal cestodes highlight a possible important role of O. vulgaris in the transmission of elasmobranch tapeworms, particularly Onchoproteocephalideans. Furthermore, the present work provides, for the first time, detailed morphological (SEM) and molecular support to confirm the occurrence of Anthobothrium sp. in cephalopod hosts. In order to gain higher taxonomic resolution for the identified taxa, we stress the need to collect further morphological and molecular data of adult cestodes infecting their elasmobranch definitive hosts.

AbstractStudies revealed the role of Artemia salina as intermediate host in the life-cycle of a cestode species parasitizing flamingos, i.e. Flamingolepis liguloides. Cysticercoids of this parasite were found for the first time in the Algerian populations of Artemia salina in winter of 2000 and 2001 in Chott Marouane and spring of 2003 in Sebkha Ez-Zemoul. The prevalence ranged between 10 and 33% for the two examined Artemia populations. The intensity of infection was 1–3 cysticercoids per individual. The abdomen was the most targeted site of infection (95% of the population of Sebkha Ez-Zemoul) followed by the thorax and the ovisac. Infected females were less fertile than uninfected ones (24.83 vs 43.70 cysts/brood) in Sebkha Ez-Zemoul or castrated in Chott Marouane.

Legal deposit system (LD), effective in Russia for more than two centuries, continues to be the source of library collections formation, preservation and enhancement of intellectual wealth and cultural values of our country. The aim of this article is to consider in generalized form the main stages of the LD system, to identify the features of the new stage associated with the entry into force of the Federal Law “On the Legal Deposit Copy of Documents”. For the first time, the author analyses the amendments to the basic Federal Law. The author proves the primary role of the Federal LD of printed publication, including the electronic form. The article presents the updated list of library and information organizations — the recipients of LD and reveals the certain priority order of receiving, formed by the Russian Book Chamber. Basing on the normative document of the Ministry of culture of the Russian Federation the author describes the contemporary structure of the Federal LD of printed publications and considers the receiving by the number of libraries of such significant and voluminous segments of the Federal LD as newspapers and dissertation abstracts. The author conducted the study to assess the relevance of receipt of the Federal LD by the largest libraries of the country in June-July, 2018. The main method is the survey of the heads of the largest library and information organizations of the Russian Federation — the recipients of the Federal LD of printed publications. The article presents in the table form the data on the proportion of the received Federal LD publications in the total volume of acquisitions in the library and information organizations. The results of the study and the professional discussion clearly confirm that the receipt of the Federal LD publications has the decisive impact, direct or indirect, on the completeness of the collection acquisition of practically all the leading libraries of our country.

Abstract. The maximum deepening rate per cyclone track is determined by the maximum height drop at the center of the cyclone (500-hPa low) on the basis of all the 6-h successive steps in its life cycle. The geopotential height gradient is calculated over the entire low area and the calculation continued with the variation of the gradient in the successive steps. The maximum intensification rate per cyclone is then determined as the maximum increase of the gradient in the life cycle. Maximum deepening rate for the 500-hPa cyclones in the area does not exceed, on average, 12 gpm/6 h. Maximum intensification which is 1.4 gpm/100 Km*6 h on average, occurs in the early stages of the cyclone's life cycle. This on the average happens approximately 9 h after the first time the low is detected. At the gulf of Genoa and the Adriatic Sea, cyclones usually show the maximum intensification after the maximum deepening. At Turkey's cyclogenesis area, however, this order is reversed. The spatial distributions of maximum intensification in the three sub-periods, indicate that it mainly occurs over Seas during late warm periods and over land during early and middle warm periods. Such a behavior underlines the role of low-level instability in cyclone development.
