The concept of Occupational Health and Safety has become increasingly important as a result of increased industrialization and the development of new technologies all over the world. The basic philosophy of Occupational Health and Safety is to reduce the number of work accidents and to provide a healthier work environment for employees. The most risky sectors in the world are designated as mining, agriculture, forestry and construction. Markets are classified as "Dangerous Classes of Occupational Health and Safety" issued by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security (ILO, 2004). When the risks are taken into consideration, marketing companies should perform risk analysis to ensure that hazards and problems will ocur. In this context, it is needed to provide and implement training on occupational health and safety regularly in order to protect against the identified risks. Periodic evaluations are performed at regular intervals that decrease in loss of life and property at marketing companies, both tangible as well as intangible losses will be reduced. The problems discussed in this study relate to the number of employee work accidents that tend to increase each year significantly due to aspects of the work environment, work equipment and materials, and how to do work. Therefore, this study's purpose of identifying and analyzing employees' occupational health and safety at the Makassar City Fire Department. The research method used is descriptive-quantitative. The population in this study were all firefighters in the Makassar City Fire Department, with a total sample of 214 people. Data collection techniques used in this study were questionnaires, observations, interviews, and document review using a Likert's Summated Rating (Likert's) scale analysis and SPSS 17 program assistance. The results showed that the occupational health and safety of the Makassar City firefighter department is a positive category. In addition, 196 respondents or 91,5% positive outlook and 18 respondents or 8,41% have a very positive outlook in environment work, 133 respondents or 37,9% positive outlook and 81 respondents or 37,9% positive outlooks about work equipment and materials. The last aspect shows 135 respondents or 63,1% positive outlooks and 79 respondents or 36,9% positive outlook on how to do the work

Objective - This study aims to determine and analyze the influence of Occupational Health and Safety, and the Working Environment on Employee Performance with Job Satisfaction as a mediating variable in PT. Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) with sample on DAOP I Jakarta. Methodology/Technique - The study population numbered 292 employees and 75 respondents be adopted as a sample of the study. Techniques of analysis using a statistical test structural equation model-based variance (SmartPLS). Findings – The results showed that, (1) Occupational Health and Safety had no effect on Job Satisfaction and Employee Performance, (2) the Work Environment had a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction and Employee Performance (3) Job Satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on Employee Performance, (4) Occupational Health and Safety has no effect on Employee Performance even though through Job Satisfaction mediation, (5) the Work Environment has a positive and significant effect on Employee Performance through mediation of Job Satisfaction, (6) Occupational Health and Safety, and the Work Environment simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on Job Satisfaction with the coefficient of determination, which is equal to 0,533, (7) Occupational Health and Safety, Work Environment, and Job Satisfaction simultaneously have a positive effect and significant to Employee Performance with coefficient of determination, which is equal to 0,890. Novelty - The company is expected to provide adequate rest periods, maintain the nutritional intake of its employees by providing healthy food, provide educational scholarships for further levels for employees, safeguard the work environment from chemical hazards and other hazards, and give positive motivation to the employees. The Agrifood Industry is the largest Portuguese Industry, constituted mainly by micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). It is noted that more than any other type of organization SMEs have their own speci?cities that make it particularly appropriate to develop tools to facilitate communication and knowledge sharing for employers and workers. To this extent, identifying critical success factors is the key to increase SMEs productivity. Likewise, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) in SMEs have their own characteristics, which dif?cult the prevention strategies implementation and aggravate the problematic of work accidents. This study analyses a ?eldwork in 60 food processing companies in Portugal, related to the dairy, meat processing, bakery and horticultural subsectors. The analysis of the results allowed to identify that, at the national and regional level, the main failures are concerned with (1) lack of risk assessments regarding occupational noise, lighting, thermal environment and vibrations; (2) safety signaling, the circulation ways are not identi?ed with appropriate safety colors; (3) general lighting, with too many shade areas and finally (4) complementary presence of associated risks to falls at the same level, falling of objects, thermal burns, the use of machines and equipment, ?re, mechanical, ergonomic hazards and incorrect body postures. This study assesses the most relevant occupational health and safety risks in the Portuguese food processing industry to contribute to the improvement of OSH management and prevention of work accidents.

Diverse devices and supplies implied for farming machines are utilized in farming processes which are either manually or mechanically operated. In spite of the fact that there have been advancements in new technologies, sustainability is the most important issue in farming. Modern farming process and advanced machineries have solved OHS (occupational health and safety) problems of farming. But modern equipment's smoke, dust, chemicals, and fertilizers both in manual-driven farming and modern farming are major environmental issues. So in this chapter, sustainability issues in farming are prioritized such that the policies, equipment, and process must be modified.

Risk assessment is a foundation for successful management of Occupational Health and Safety, as well as an important key in order to decrease the number of work accidents. Moreover, risk assessment is an essential part of normal safety activity in work places and it includes positive factors such as: productivity, motivation and creativity. The first part of the paper focuses on a legislative background of risk assessment in Romania compared to Finland, based on the Occupational Health and Safety Act. The second part represents a comparative analysis regarding the risk assessment instruments used in Romania in comparison with those from Finland. The third part includes a current perspective regarding risk management in Finland and its impact of the situation in work life. The aim of this paper is to realize a brief review of risk assessment in Romania compared to Finland in order to take into consideration both the advantages and disadvantages regarding legislation, instruments used in the process of risk assessment in these countries.

The current generation of dedicated Mixed Reality (MR) devices can be considered as the first generation, which is truly mobile while also being capable of sufficient tracking and rendering. These improvements offer new opportunities for the on-set use of MR devices enabling new ways of using MR. However, these new use cases raise challenges for the design and orchestration of MR applications as well as how these new technologies influence their field of application. In this paper, we present MR On-SeT, a MR occupational health and safety training application, which is based on the experiences of an operational division of a world-wide operating German company. The intended purpose of MR On-SeT is to increase employees’ awareness of potential hazards at industrial workplaces by using it in occupational health and safety training sessions. Since the application is used at various locations throughout the company’s world-wide subsidiaries, we were able to evaluate it through an expert survey with the occupational health and safety managers of seven plants in France, Germany, Japan, and Romania. They reported the condensed experience of around 540 training sessions collected within three months. The purpose of the evaluation was twofold: 1. to understand their perceived attitudes towards the application-in-use, and 2. to collect feedback they received from respondents in training sessions. The results suggest that MR On-SeT can be used to extend current, predominantly theoretical, methods of teaching occupational health and safety at work, which also motivates existing employees to actively engage in the training sessions. Based on the findings, several further design implications are proposed.
